12/16/06 10-day holiday cruise Part 3

This year they get out on the 22nd and return Jan2. Not a long holiday break at all.

Next year we are heading to Carlsburg, CA for a week, then Hawaii for a week, but I am hoping that since Christmas/New Year's falls on a Wednesday next year, they will be giving them more days off (Monday b-4 X-Mas till the Thursday after New Year) and she won't be out of school for as many days. They don't set the schedule till March so i won't know if I have a serious problem till then.

I agree, 3pirates...it does get harder and harder to plan these trips.

We were toying with a repo Med Cruise, but the cruise out interfers with the end of the year school and the repo back would cut into the first week of school. And like you, I said, "No way that is gonna happen". Oh well, I look at the bright side...I saved myself a whole heep of $$$$$$$.

Party at my house :dance3: ...coool "Bring it on" We have the PTA pool party at my house every year...between adults and kids we have about 79 bodies. You should see my pool and it is a BIG pool...wall to wall kids and people and you don't want to see what it looks like when everyone leaves
But they are all great about bringing my house and yard back to order before the last person leaves....great people, great friends!!!! :thumbsup2

WoooHoooo :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'll bring chicken wings and dip    and, some type of alcoholic concoction, of course ;)

Hey, what can i say - it's that Type A personality and the list of things I need to accomplish before the cruise including wrapping close to 150 gifts for and stuff 150 stockings before December 2, 2006 - I have my charity event.

So, for the record I am not always that anal - but this year, a) I am home, b) we are leaving Dec.5 c) I have my charity event d) and company coming from Atlanta, e) and Halloween f) two Christmas parties and the annual Toronto Santa Clause Parade, g) Tickets to Mickeys Magic show- I feel like that's a lot.(LOL I know I have to justify the wrapping of gifts this early somehow) :rotfl:

So the wrapping of the gifts is a stress reliever for me.

Don't laugh- I have started washing and ironing the summer clothes we are planning on taking on the cruise.

What can i say I am a planner

Denise

hey..no grief here. You're smart to get a jump on it. This cruise will be here before we all know it.

Me, I seem to work better under pressure....Or at least, that's what I like to tell my lazy butt :rotfl:

Same here and also did not want to fly with my kids for 14 HRS...YUK...but again same here fell at the wrong time for that cruise. Wonder if there will be more adults than kids...when we did the Panama canal crusie there were only 350 kids...it was great for the kids clubs and councelors because the kids got all that extra attention...it was wonderful!!! :)

JR -- what do you think of Studio 60?

TAR fans -- am I the only one PRAYING for Rob and Kimberly / Peter and Sara to get Philiminated???? :furious:

As for S60, I'm kind of 'meh' at the moment. Sorkin preachy worked well on WW, but not so much on a show that is supposed to be funny. The sketches haven't been very good so far. But I am going to stick in for as long as it is on air and see if it gets better. I mean, it's had its funny moments, but there is something missing.

But I have to go to the UK next week, so I'll have my WW DVDs to watch en route. :)

As for TAR, I'll be happy to see both of those teams go. Peter is creepy and, personally, I think he is gay (not that there is anything wrong with that). I was cheering for the father and his daughter, but they are gone, so right now I am cheering for the Asian brothers. I did like the coal miner and his wife, but she got on my nerves this week complaining b/c her husband couldn't row the boat. Like a coal miner does a lot of kayaking.

LOL, I agree. :happytv:

its like 3 in the morning and i am still up...what's wrong with me

Yeah, our schools are out December 16-Jan 2 too. the next town over gets out a week later for the holiday, glad we moved! I won't take DD out of school for the cruise and DH says this is probably our (or at least his) last Disney Cruise so I am going to enjoy it!

Sam didn't get on the board last night either, i didn't get home until nearly 8:00 by which time it was time to take a bath, get ready for bed, etc. Plus we got home to find about 5 packages for DH that we didn't order, something about setting up a business at home??? :confused3 Then called the cc company and found out someone had gotten hold of his info and has been using his card all over the internet! So we had to cancel the card and go through all that mess. :furious: By the time that was all done I was ready for bed!

I was starting to pull things out for the cruise this weekend and while I was at it I wrapped the Christmas presents I have gotten for people so far (except for stuff for the cruise)! Really working on cutting back what we spend this year so not buying much. In fact, I think I am pretty much done buying for DH already! Scary, I know.

DH threatened the other day if I mention the cruise again for a while he isn't going! Says he is tired of hearing about it already! Ugh. So I am being good and keeping quiet. Oh well...I think I can do it, I think I can, I think I can.... as long as I can come on here and talk about it :rolleyes1 .

If I had any gifts I would wrap them--would be nice to have that done! I think this year I AM waiting for Santa :santa: to just handle things for me. I'm thinking nieces and nephews are all getting cash this year--they'll probably like that better anyhow! (Do I get any points for having ideas????) That's probably as far as I'll get this week, unless I find some wonderful stuff at a charity lunch/market thing I'm going to tomorrow. My big goal this week is Halloween costumes and getting Winter sports in order. The place where Kev plays b-ball only takes walk in registrations. That's his favorite sport so I gotta get on it! Of course, the weekends are still consumed with Fall sports...

Ohhhhhhhh....the credit card thing is AWFUL! We had a mini episode of that a few years back and it took forever to get resolved. Came home to find a $3500 piece of musical equipment in my garage that was supposed to be sent somewhere in North Carolina. Called the store that sent it, and they had suspected something so sent it to the billing address. The interesting thing was that the people who ordered it were on the phone with him chewing him out for sending it to the wrong place! Seems to me like they should have been running :moped: . We return shipped the item, got the charge removed, etc. We put a fraud alert on that account, and just don't use it much any more. The problem with fraud alert is that they will decide randomly to decline the card--too much of a hassle!

yay i'm finally all done with my trips to the dentist!

i still need to christmas shop. but it can wait. i only have to buy for my 3 sisters and my parents. oh and i guess my best friend and my boyfriend. carp :rotfl2: but that can all wait, maybe i can find something for my best friend, boyfriend and 2 of my sisters on the cruise. we're not celebrating christmas as a family until after the cruise. since hayley isn't coming anymore (or at the minute anyways) and heidi and i aren't getting anything from our mom and dad because the cruise is our christmas present, which we're totally cool with :goodvibes

Hey - Holly & Heidi...obviously I missed outcome of the big decision somewhere along the line so..................

:welcome: :welcome: Welcome BACK Aboard :welcome: :welcome:

I'm so glad your family was able to work things out and you guys can still go :cheer2:

Not much shopping going on here either. This is the first Christmas since my Dad passed and since we are not going to be around I'm not even sure if/how my side of the family is going to get together. Jimmy's side pretty much doesn't get on too well, except for one of my BIL/SIL and they are the ones that are going to ST Lucia for X-Mas. Unfortunately, we will already have come and gone by the time they start their vacation.

Not doing much for Julia - just a few small things we can take on the cruise for Christmas Morn.

Yeah, we aren't doing much either. I got a few small things for DH, some to bring on the cruise and one for home for afterwards. I have collected a few small things for Sam and a book and calendar that will go under the tree. I need to find something to bring on the cruise from Santa but not sure what yet. DH suggested some DVDs, may go with that. Really, I just have other family to buy for at this point. Mostly done with Mom, but need to get Dad, DB, SIL on my side and niece and something small for SIL on DH's side. Really don't want to (and can't afford to) spend much money this year, that's for sure. And some of them may wait as I may get them something on the cruise if I don't find something else beforehand.

I always say "this year I am not buying as much as last year" - do I ever stick to it - Hell No :rotfl: I think this SANTA thing is costing me too much $$$$.

Maybe there'll be some relief when the kids know its Mom and Dad!! For now their lists are ever growing and I have had to number the items in order of importance - Even explaining Santa can't bring all that stuff (I'd be unable to afford the trip) it's still costing close to $500 for the two girls :confused3 .

Anyhow, I am glad to get the whole X-mas thing out of the way and after wrapping for all those kids that aren't mine I am usually in "no mood" to wrap my own gifts.

Can you believe that I communicated with someone on the DIS on the CDN board and it turned out that 3 years ago we worked together -its a small world!!

Thanks to all of you have have e-mailed my daughter; Jessica and have started a nice Pen Pal relationship with her - she looks very forward to checking her e-mail when she gets home from school every day.

Also to those of you here on this thread and those on the DIS who are helping me with my charity event - I sincerely thank you!!

Have a wonderful day.

Denise :)

Morning/Afternoon/Evening(depends on when you read this)All,
I have not gone x-mas shopping yet either. My boys have so much that hard to think of what to get them! They like $$ but they still believe in SAnta so Santa has to come both home and cruise...they understand that the cruise is our present to them.(more for me and dh, :rolleyes1 ). They like computer games...could use new bikes..I;ll just have to think hard. Also like all of you this trip is $$$$$..5 days at WDW at the BC and 10 day cruise is enough to get my Deck built, house re=stucco"d and do some new landscapping. And we live here in very expensive SanDiego. But OOOOOO what fun we will have  we do a big vacation like this every year so promised dh we will put off till 2008 for next one.

We are also a victum to Identity Theft..but we were lucky they causgt the guys(due to them having my Drivers licence) and took awhile but had all taken care of. I do all my banking online and view my cards often so was able to catch it into 3 days of use. Did not even realise that they had my wallet because it was a weekend and did not go anywhere.

As as far as always talking about this trip....everytime we get close like 8 months out... LOL...I eat, sleep. breath and won't shut up "Disney" My Dh just smiles because he understands and has a great time himself. But sometimes I'll be talking about it and he just kind of smiles and stares into space,as if to say "Will you shut up already". He sometimes wonders why after being on DCL so many times how I act like it is my first!!!

"Yea Disney"

Robin

Hi Denise, :)
What is your Charity and how can I help?

Jen, :)
You have only been posting one line at a time, have you been busy? and have you entered int any more Events?

Robin

p.s. I post a lot in the am and pm cause kids are out of school for 2 weeks and in between helping them continue with there studies(poor DS"say "were on break that means no studing and mom says"NOT") they have consumed the 2 computers. I could use my lap top but has this irritating pop up that I cant get rid of. Well the Indians are getting restless so time for them.

I love playing on my comp. I shall go clean the boys Bathroom instead :
