My mom just returned from two weeks in Cozumel January 27. She said that their hotel was the only one open for in a six block area. And only 20 some rooms were available. They stayed at Playa Azul. Any way she said they were still working on the shops and beaches at a feverant pace to get it ready for the ships again. But the hurricane really did alot of damage. Their hotel did not even partically reopen until Jan 2. They arrived 9th.

It was so sad to see all the damage that was done there. We went to Cancun a few years ago and it was was one of my favorite vacations. I think the Mexican people are some of the most warm, hospitible and friendly people I have ever encountered. They really can not do enough for you and it is genuine. Were they able to do any "touristy" things or is everything pretty much still in the repair stage still?

Sorry you East coasters.....we're havin' a heat wave...a tropical heat wave. It isn't suprising the temerature's rising. It certainly can a can can. Freiking 91 when we got out of church this morning. Now all we need is one of those idiot firebugs to play with matches. I'm thinking of all you guys today.

So I guess it will get even hotter here tomorrow....it was about 74° today....hot enough.

Whatcha wanna know about Cozumel?? We went there at Christmas time on our Norwegian cruise.....still plenty to do. I heard the reason DCL isn't going back is because there aren't enough tenders and no one else wants to share!

Costa Maya......not much there. A couple of Mayan Ruins, only one of which sounds worth going to. HUGE pier complex, two excellent restaurants (lobster!) two swimming pools, beach, shops...all right there at the pier.
One small town within walking distance...Mahajual...with bars, food and beach.
There will be a lot of snorkeling excursions, some catamaran sails, the ruins tour, but otherwise, just the pier thing. There IS an excursion similar to the "Beach Break" that sounds really nice, lots of fun stuff for the kids to do in and near the water.

Hey gaRry! Your wife has called ME several times. Having loads of fun!!

I called SUE they have about 8 inchs I think thats what she said We got too that part and the call came in, they lost power for a short time things are good now she was happy that we cared!!!!!!!!!

DO YOU have a number of your DIS BUDDY????????? that was the one thing if you don't have a phone number and they stop posting how do you check on them????????

Thanks Stace for the CM info. I bet it isn't near as crowded as Coz. usually is. One of my fellow April cruisers found the site that tells all the ships in port that day and they say the tenders can adequately serve 4-5 large ships. Our CZday there are 6 or 7 scheduled so I think they will pull out.

Okay guys--so what exactly is a
t.o.p.? is that a dumb question?

I bet all the eastern ski resorts are thankful for a nice winter surprise right before presidents weekend.

Walter and Lampskies---did you turkey cruisers get a group discount? I wonder if they will do that on holidays or special cruises.

It looks like the TA are going to have a harder time of beating DCL prices now with the new changes. I know for this cruise I was quoted exactly the same amount from everyone. Only diff was onboard credit. I had no idea Barbs name could not be mentioned on these boards. Is that new? Mary whats up with that?

She said that the ocean was warmer than the pool. But it was really windy so they didn't get to do much in the water. They did some shopping and visited some ruins. But it is still really under construction.

Yes Judy, uneventful..yes, but half the fun is trying to steal ( ) it from the other guy. Same thing with the milestone posts. Ya, you can try to claim them, but hey there's a just lurking to steal it from you. It's something that originated from the X-mas '04 cruise thread that has kinda stuck around with some of us. Ya, I know, some people may think it silly (I think we were being patronized a bit on another thread), but hey, it's a little game we play here and we think it's fun. So join on in and try to steal them when ya can .
