Nope, mom is about 5'6" and dad is around 6 foot. He was about 3 weeks early though so that may explain it.

I vote he might be shorter....

DD was 4 wks early but she was 21" long.

Believe me....the meds I am taking are helping me stay calm on the outside but I am burning mad inside. If ANYTHING happens to DD I will be suing the school or school board for neglegence and subjecting her to a dangerous situation. The administration is aware of the problem & they are "handling it" but it is not improving things at all IMO.

As a parent of a child in this situation, you should ask the school to document how they are "handling it". Claim it is for the comfort level of the parents involved to prove that all administrative steps are being taken to ensure the situation is being corrected/maintained immediately.

We had a situation where one of Devon's teachers required a substitute one day. The substitute felt that it was her right to let the class take a break and tell jokes at the end of the class. Her idea of jokes were of the "your momma's so fat..", "your momma's so stupid..." etc variety; she even asked the kids to make up a few! When we heard that, we flipped! A nasty letter was written to the school citing their policy of tolerance and demanding this be corrected and proof that it was handled given back to us. A week or so later, the teacher in fault wrote us a letter apologizing for her actions.

In the end, the school needs to evaluate their policy to the letter, enforce it, reassure the parents that they are handling it appropriately as well as communicating this and preventing it in the future. Just because they are a large organization, that does not give them the right to ignore the parents or not explain how it is being handled, they OWE us that much....the parents that pay their salaries. :furious:

Sorry, I'm rambling....breathe breathe breathe....

:sad2: That is an AWFUL feeling! My DD has been telling me how a girl in her school was making death threats to DD's friend and they haven't even suspended the girl yet.

We also had an incident at a local high school where a girl had an unloaded gun in her backpack. :sad2: I'm starting to get really scared myself with the way kids in schools are these days. :guilty:

WHAT!?!

Unloaded gun?...if something wasn't done about that on a major scale, you should be going past the school, the district admin, then to the press....

With Columbine and that other Colorado school...kids like that should be pulled and dealt with in the strictest methods, first time - no warnings.

I need to calm down....this is gonna drive me crazy.

Bravo!

Well said!

Absolutely!!

Sometimes you have to hold their feet to the fire. I think schools sometimes (sometimes) take the path of least resistance. Maybe talk to the other parents of your DD's class......strength in numbers?

thank_you.gif

Remember, pen is mightier than the sword....go to the district admin, then the community, newspapers, etc....embarassment will go along way. I don't have a problem making the school admin accountable...they take for granted that we are parents and are educated, the old school methods, back when they used to teach something in the schools....

We can start our own candy talk Brandi. ;)

I love Snickers and Reeses - both of which my DH is allergic to. :sad2:

Reeses and Almond Joy are my favorite candy bars.

I recently discovered that Slim Fast makes snacks that have only 120 calories and they have one that tastes EXACTLY like snickers and another that tastes exactly like a butterfinger?! Those are soooo good. :cloud9:

Oooh, candy talk!

Count me in for (and not necessarily in this order):

Twizzlers

Dove Chocolate

The chocolate bars they sell at IKEA :cloud9:

Limited Edition Hershey Bars with tons of nuts

An occasional Skittles (original flavor) -- mooched off my DS in the movies

That is what I don't like about this time of year. You have to have a change of clothes with you most days.

Yep, it's frustrating when I'm getting the kids ready for school because it's so chilly in the morning but by the time I pick them up it's warm. DS wants to wear shorts to school still but I know when he's outside in the morning he'll be cold.

I think something was done about the unloaded gun. It was on the news last night, they didn't say what was done but I'd think if it made the news they must've done something.

This is the 2nd incident in the last few weeks where a kid in high school's here had a gun! I'm so nervous sending my kids to school these days. :sad2:

But the girl who threatened DD's friend wasn't punished. The school informed the girl's mom and the next day the girl came up to DD's friend and threatened her life again because she said "You got me in trouble now I'm really gonna kill you!" The girl is STILL in school everyday. I do not understand how threats like that don't warrant suspension!!!!! :furious:

And where do you buy them? I've never seen them for sale anywhere, yet there are always some in the Halloween bag.

:rotfl: They're the fruitcakes of Halloween candy.....they just show up each year!

So...DD & the kids in her class have been instructed to run out into the hall way when the "bad kid" does something to threaten them. So far his favorite thing to do is pick up a chair and hold it above his head then throw it. I really don't want her in the same class with him but that would require me to take her away from her teachers & friends to go in another class & that would be stressful for both of us. She stopped crying in the mornings a couple weeks ago. I really do not want her to go thru that again. This is the same kid who threatened her & another girl that he was going to bring a knife to school & cut them. :(

You know what scares me? Where are these kids learning this from? Are they subjected to this kind of violence in their homes? And if so, do you really think the parents will correctly handle the situation when told their child is doing this or will they most likely handle it in a way that just makes the child worse? :sad2:

Just when I was starting to breathe again, too.

:furious:

I would SO be in the face of every school official if this wasn't dealt with immediately.

I see mod powers struck again for a milestone :rolleyes1

DH's car was not fixed when we went to pick it up last night so the mechanic had to work on it some more. He called this morning and says it is fixed again so I am going to run across town and pick up DH and run back across town for him to get the car on my lunch break.

Today is picture day at school -I volunteered to comb hair and help out to get and meet the kids from each of my kids K classes. That should be fun - aspirin anyone?

elaine

That is SO nice of you! I volunteered to do this at DS' school one year after half of them had hair all messed up, collars crooked, etc. in their pics.
