waltsgirl said:About 3 years ago I had terrible pain in my upper stomach I thought I was dying. Nothing helped, hot, cold. eating, not eating, it just kept getting worse. Finally I had to go to the emergency room and I had pancreatitis(not sure of spelling)... Of course, before the hospital told me I had this they sent me home. They gave me some pain medicine and some Flexall, a muscle relaxer and sent me home. After being home about 1 hour the phone rings, keep in mind it is now 3:00AM, I answer it and it is the Dr from the hospital who proceeds to tell me that I need to come back to the hospital to be admitted. They had released me using someone elses chart, some guy with back spasms, and I had to be admitted since I had pancratitis, thought to be caused by a gallstone.
Needless to say I was a little upset and after having the Flexall that was meant for the guy I had a hard time standing because my muscles were really relaxed!!! Anyway went in and had to have complete "belly rest" for 3 days!! Do you know that every TV show and commercial has food in it! i couldn't even have water, Just IV's.
I was like Carl for the first year. Watched everything I ate, cut out all fat and lost about 60 lbs. Well the memory of the pain has faded, like with childbirth, the reason you have more than one child, and I have gained weight and eat everything in sight!!!
Oh well.. I hope I didn't jinx myself by telling the story!!
What an amazing story Amy! I can't believe they discharged you in error. I have heard of patients getting the wrong medication but not being sent home! Thank goodness they called and admitted the mistake, and the Flexall medication didn't hurt you.
Brack!!

That is scary!
