Becka - If you get the 1/4 cow make sure you have a deep freezer. If you only have a reg fridge/freezer you will not have enough room. I was raised on a vegetable farm but we always raised a few pigs to butcher. They take up quite a bit of room in your freezer. I have never gone out and bought one that way but I do know that it is cheaper than buying it piece by piece at the butcher shop.

We do have a free standing freezer so I don't think space will be a problem. I will talk to DH tonight. :)

Well, I've got a little surprise for some of you here today . . .

(concerning earrings)

This is a link to a neighboring school district's handbook - with the dress code beginning on page 13.

This is the code that our other member wants us to pattern ours on.

That is a very strict dress code. I think I need to think about that...

If you are flying Jetblue, please go check your flights! I just saved an additional $60 on my roundtrip. This is for a single ticket! For a grand total of $80 savings from a $230 original price. This is my first time saving on my air ticket and I am astonished.

Pj

Congrats PJ!! Money found! Now what will you be spending it on??? :scratchin

Wow, John. They are VERY specific! I would have a few questions as a parent for clarifications (do you have to wear a belt??), but I think it is pretty upfront. What grade is this up to for elementary? Moustaches?? :rotfl:

So what do you think a student dress code should include?

One of my school board members is upset because another boy in his son’s 2nd grade class has an earring. He feels that is inappropriate in school, and his kids should “not have to see that”.

You guys may already know me well enough to know what I think, but what do you think?

John1

What the parent does not have the ability to explain why some males chose to wear an earring? Fashion, is there any religion that earrings are apart of (?), parental choice, because their sister got earrings and he wanted one too, etc. Has anyone asked why the boy has an earring? Maybe the parents like earrings and chose to have one on their 7 year old son?

My brother had one from 9th grade on, foolish boy, but he did it because it was "cool". What does the parent think it implies or will influence or affect his child to do? :confused3

The only reasonable issue might be one of phyical safety. An earring ripped from one's ear causes a lot of blood and trama. But this would have to apply to females as well then.

We are having a fall yard sale this weekend. Tomorrow I am going to make lots of baked goods. Any money we make I am going to take to my travel agent and ask her to put it for onboard credit.

I think I just heard DH come home and the kids are still sleeping.... later guys! :wave2:

I love those 100 calorie packs... really helps me out with portion control when I want a snack or a sweet. Have you tried the Fudge Stripe cookie ones? Those are my favorite! So yummy! popcorn::

FUDGE STRIPE COOKIE, what is this. Mind you we only got the Christie brand packs about three months ago, Oreo, chips Ahoy etc. And the Pringles about a month after that. And then last month the 100 calorie thin chocolate bars. But the cookie entrigues me, share please.....

It is a credit, has a 13 month window (10/26/2007) so it will pay for half of next years ticket to WDW/DCL. Silly Mom, thought it was going to benefit her in some way, :confused3 :rotfl2: .

This is K-12.

This is a neighboring district that is very conservative, and not very diverse. Just a few years ago a school board member there wanted "Of Mice and Men" and "Catcher in the Rye" banned from the school and the school library.

What does that tell you?

That is crazy! "Of Mice and Men" and "Catcher in the Rye" were both required reading in my school district. They still are required! That district seems a bit too extreme.

I too read these books in HS. I loved "Of Mice and Men", but don't remember it being inappropriate. "Catcher in the Rye" was, shall I say, a bit of an eye opener for a 10th grader! ;)

My uncle is leaving for his new house in Florida Saturday. We were going to take him out for a farewell dinner tonight, but he declined. :confused3 He is a strange man. So we are having pizza at my mom's. I don't even know if my uncle will be there for that! :rotfl:

So I have to call DH and order the pizza and get on over there now. I'm sure I'll be back later. Anything good on TV tonight?
