Becka - believe me I have the same misgivings about travelling with my MIL. But the kids will enjoy having her along - at least DD. And we will have the help which will almost balance out having to eat every meal with her. Now that both my parents are gone - she is the only remaining grandparent.

We really feel that we are our own style of parent - completely different from the way our parents were. I don't feel guilty about not doing it their way because it just wouldn't work. Your kids will like you best being who you are.

If you have many plans already set maybe you can include MIL in your next trip. She may just not want to feel left out of a good time - LOL.

DD needs to start learning how to write faster. She took over 2 hours to do her homework and it should NOT have taken that long.

I turned it off ASAP!! DD just started JR High and I don't need to see that stuff! I think cell phones should be totally banned at school anyway and this stuff just adds to my plea.

This stuff is amazing! I thought that I was out of the crowd in school but I never experienced anything like this. This makes me not want to send the kids to HS.

DS Giona scored 6 goals in his soccer game last night. I was so happy for him - he seriously needed the ego boost. He said it was "sweet". Last year, soccer at age 4 was a disaster. The twins had a terrific soccer camp this summer which they loved and it really seemed to turn the game around for them.

I hope everyone else is having a great soccer season too!!

yes I think that is the case with our school as well. Usually only about a dozen parents attend. It seems so hard to get up on what is going on. So I guess I have to volunteer for some committees?

Is anyone else watching Primetime? They are showing how young girls attack each other verbally at such a young age. Scarey!!!

I'm watching... it's horrifying!! I am afraid of when they get back to the 15 year old boy to find out what happened to him... I assume he killed himself. So sad that this is happening every day!

I hear you!!!! Today I actually told the kids to take a break & watch TV before they did their homework. DS kept asking me if his break was over. I told him at 4 pm. At 3:45 he said that he wanted to go upstairs and read a book. He is such a perfectionist that it takes him FOREVER to write anything. OY!!!!

You know I decided to take Vanessa's advice and look for a Wendy costume at WDW - I would save the shipping cost even if the price is the same as on Ebay.

I also am finding it easier to just put things aside for the cruise as I put away the summer things. It is already fall here - looks like no Indian summer this year. Already too cold for sleeveless attire.

I also bought several new things for DD and DS so I have those all together in a large box and I just keep dropping things in there. I have another box started for items I want to ship ahead.

It does seem that between the purchases, excursions, onboard shopping - that this little cruise is going to really add up. LOL.

Costume Express has great costumes. We have ordered from Shindigz too. We try to pick something that not everyone will have. DD is going to be a geisha this year. Last year she chose Snow Angel. She was also a can can dancer - which we ordered from CE and it is a beautiful, colorful costume.

DS insists on being some action hero every year and I let him decide even if it is not what I would choose. He bases it on what kind of face mask the character has and whether it is comfortable.

Some judges in costume contests seem to really respond to the princess costumes - they usually are so pretty.

good luck choosing - it's always so hard. I go for the color and photo ops.

Yes, she was called fat in Kindergarten by a couple girls there. I guess if they are starting that early....what these 14 yos is just how it winds up by that age. Who has so much hatred against people they don't even know. It makes me worry about what she may face in a few years.

Remember to keep it all in perspective. I doubt we will ever see a Primtime or dateline do a story on all the great things that happen in JR high and high school. All the great friends, memories, and fun times, that wouldn't make much of a show. Who wants to see the good???

Can I at least say that I thought the show was boring? I have watched every Survivor that has been on and this one interested me the least at the beginning.

Maybe it is because the whole show I kept thinking I should check the DIS instead?

ok somehow i forgot erase the old programming, so watching on KIRO, missed the first ten minutes, but saw a commercial with them all on a pirate ship.

But DIS at the same time!
