I love wine. Are there any bars on board that have a cruvinet? ie. tap?
Just wonderng if any of those bottles of wine that are available at dinner with the package are also available by the glass elsewhere on the ship?

Any interest in a wine group? Maybe we could all bring 2 special bottles onboard and have our own tasting. could be fun.

You know I hadn't really wanted to count backwards but I finally did last night and saw that Sat. would be the first booking day. I have to call our TA and ask her to add this as Disney told me I need to go thru her. We used Barb at Platinum.

We also just made reservations for the Resort at Cocoa Beach - we thought we would get in the beach mode for 2 days before the cruise starts. The suite has 2 bedrooms - good for us with MIL joining us. $120 with AAA rate.

Anyone staying there? We will rent a car and drive from MCO - pick up some wine, Diet Coke and water to drop at pier.

Did you know that Barb will be on this cruise? She has not connected up with our group, she goes to relax. Not much of that with this group, lol.

thanks Kim - that is good to know. I was planning on getting a facial. Think I should do this early on in the cruise or after all the sun?

elaine

Here is the problem with facials. They will make you break out. After 1 or 2 days, you will be blotchy and may have imperfections. If this does not bother you, I would do the hydrocleansing the first or second day and friday do the marine based facial. If this bothers you, only do the marine based facial later. Also make sure they give you the Elemis eye mask. It is to die for! No facial should take less han 50 minutes either, they should also make minor adjustments depending on your age and skin quality. Don't let them tell you they can only give you the one product, they can make minor adjustments.

Sorry, I got on my facial platform...

Yes the live eviction is tomorrow night. :)

Hope that DD enjoys tomorrow. :) DD brought her backpack down from her closet this afternoon. She is talking about her teachers more & is happy because I described her assistant and now she knows who she is. :) I am hoping it goes well tomorrow night when we meet everyone.

Is the Stingray adventure at CC recommended?

Hubby did this elsewhere and thinks that the kids are not old enough. He didn't really enjoy it because the stingray got into a tussle with his dive equipment which made him uncomfortable.

I embarassed DD because I am too friendly. Apparently I talk to to many people and I just walk up to people I don't know and introduce myself. Also, she hates my sandals... Boy, it starts early huh? Also, today I learned I am just a little bit fat... Good day for me.

Elaine, there is a wine and cheese scheduled on Thursday. :)

Kim, come stand by me on the ship and she will think you are a skinny bean pole, lol.

Elaine, several families are doing the CC stingrays, it is about 15 mins of instruction, 20 mins of feeding and then 30 mins of free time in the stingray area.

yes Barb did mention that she will be on this cruise and also mentioned that she knows the Palo staff well. ;) apparently she will also be several doors away from us on Deck 5.

I am sure as an experienced cruiser that she has a certian routine - while I will be running around like a nut trying to do everything. LOL.

I am looking for a wine volunteer though since I don't drink and never have. You might all get those wine in a box things if no one wants to volunteer...

Kim

I can't help with that either....maybe Elaine can help you. :) We aren't a really formal group though.

Is Barb another one from your office? Are you all in accounting, cause if you are I pitty the fool who gets in front of you on the last day while you are looking forward to a fun christmas holiday at work doing year end....

Kim, you are ahead of your time, wine in a box is coming (already big in Europe and Aussie), there are suppose to be the next big thing, lol.

thanks for the added detail about the stingray adventure. I think the kids would really love it. But it is not often that hubby is more conservative than I am about stuff so I'm not sure if I should insist or not.

Maybe I will try and book it for the second day and he can check it out on our first visit to CC.

What are the cancellation policies for these excursions. And do you pay for them at booking time or later?

elaine

LOL! No, Barb is the person who has been on over 50 DCL cruises on the boards. She is now a TA. :)

I would be happy to help if I can with a wine party. Not sure what you have planned or what the budget is. Feel free to fill me in. We will have a car to drop things at the port if part of the plan is to shop and BYO on board.

I don't think there are any wines worth drinking in the states that come in a box - maybe in Europe the quality is higher. But there are certainly plenty of inexpensive, but decent quality bottled wines to be had.

elaine

Barb is from Platinum Vacation Planners. She runs www.castawayclub.com and posts the Navigator issues on her web site. She also has some great pics of the spa and staterooms.

I gathered from reading her material that the secret to frequent cruises is to book an inside cabin and just enjoy the ship. I would still think that all the travel and onboard expenses make it pretty pricey anyway. But I am still in sticker shock because our trips to WDW are always so cheap.

elaine

Like I said, it isn't anything fancy...pretty much just a great chance to visit for a couple hours. Angie brought some wine last year I know. You just bring what you would like to share.

Well I am definitely a facial novice. Maybe I should have one at home first. I don't want all the pics to be with blotches. thanks for that advice.

I took my DD cruise dress shopping on Block Island (beack resort) this weekend and she told me chubby people don't look good in dresses. I guess I better get out there with the soccer ball before the cruise. LOL.
