Good Morning Everyone! :wave2:

I woke up to the news of the UK airline plot. :sad2: I hate that we had to live in a world where this kind of stuff happens but thank God that it was apparently stopped in time.

I know some other group put Banana in their name but while I agree that we are DIS geeks I think our title should be something maybe a little more "exotic" (and not in a X-rated pole dancing kind of way....get your minds out of the gutter! ). Something that when the others on the board read it they are going to wonder what the heck we are up to. KWIM?

I hope everyone has a good and safe day.

Morning Becka - you were right about Expedia, I emailed to see if I purchased if I could later have a FL or AP discount applied and the answer was no.

I called again this morning and the honeymoon suite at the Poly had opened up - so I guess there is hope!! ;) And the CM this morning was so nice....she sia d- "honey, things open up all the time, ya gotta keep calling!"....I wish they had a waiting list or something!

Morning everyone.

Sorry to post a gloom & doom story but for those that haven't heard yet, woke up this morning and saw the news of a major terror plot foiled.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/08/10/us.security/index.html

I guess the wait at airport security check-ins will now be even longer.

"Due to the nature of the threat revealed by this investigation, we are prohibiting any liquids, including beverages, hair gels, and lotions from being carried on the airplane," the DHS statement said.

OMG! This is so not what I needed to read about. :( I feel sorry for those going on British airways.
The British Airports Authority said no hand luggage would be allowed onto planes leaving British airports until further notice.
Can you imagine being stuck on an airplane for a trip to the States with a kid and not have anything with you to keep them occupied or even fed if they are using bottles...depending on how much they are enforcing this. I am glad that they caught the terrorists but hate that they still win. :furious:

OK, if this ban on liquids and gels is still in effect when we cruise...since we are driving down to FL, I will be happy to pick up whatever anyone needs & take it with us to FL and you can pick it up at our room. :)

HEY - WHEN DID OUR THREAD NAME CHANGE?

I knew we were joking about it and then I see that it changed. Granted, i've only been on the boards for about an hour until I noticed, but NEATO!!!

'Morning everyone!

This is my second attempt at this - the power went out and my first attempt went "poof".

Maybe it is "double dip dis'ers"?

My email notifications still have the old thread name though . . .

And V, you and your DDD's!

Too bad we could not work in "bananas", "coconuts", or "cult" though!

I am assuming Lisa had a hand in this with her magic powers.

Angie, BTW wanted to RSVP on the cpap and bag. Last trip I bought a Samsonite rolling computer bag. It holds my cpap, laptop, and camera gear - barely. It's better than what I had (got it at Sam's Club), but still not perfect. It would have never worked with my old cpap - it was the size of a large loaf of bread. My new one is like the mini loafs you get at a restaurant - much more compact, so it fits.

Back to work. I need your levity due to some tough stuff I am dealing with at work.

Be good guys!

John

BTW - I don't want to be around when Kim hears about the new security procedures! I can hear her all the way from Utah right now! :furious:

Think about all those cruisers who buy their booze on the islands to carry on the plane home! Who wants to deal with that group???

DING! DING! DING! DING! You are on the ball this morning, Karen!

December Double Dip Cruisers DIS Geeks United. :cool1:

I did consider "Cult of the DDD Cruisers DIS Geeks United" but didn't want to offend anyone by putting cult in the thread. Not anyone in the group now...but anyone not knowing us and just what the word may imply for some people.

Anyhow....you don't think that you would wonder why there were a bunch of people saying that they were geeks? :lmao: We have them all here....band geeks, techie geeks, greek geeks, D&D geeks, camera buff geeks...... :)

OH NO!!!! I will pack extra hair stuff for her DD's hair. :)

YIKES!!! Those leaving after today will know about it already but the Magic has already been to their ports & people have already purchased their booze. :guilty: It's not going to be pretty at MCO. :(

Wow - ! I didn't think of that! They'll have to ship it home. Do the boats show the news at all?

It isn't so bad after all....that stuff can be put in your checked bags. :)

"Effective immediately by order of the TSA, passengers may not bring liquids or gels of any size at the security checkpoint or in the aircraft cabin - including beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, toothpaste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency. Such items may be transported in checked baggage. Passengers may have baby formula, breast milk, or juice if a baby or small child is traveling. Passengers may also have prescription medication labeled with a name which matches the name on the passenger's ticket, insulin, or other essential non-prescription medications. Beverages purchased beyond the security checkpoints must be consumed before boarding the aircraft. For further information, please go to www.tsa.gov. Thank you."

OK Here's the question I'm working with.
There will probably be stricter restrictions on Airline travel from now on.
Train travel usually follows in step with train travel.

Where does cruise travel sit? Will we still be able to check luggage full of Dr Pepper and Water?

Oh, and hopefully the flight attendants will be ready with formula, diapers and baby toys. They had just better lighten up on the cost of onboard water and softdrinks.

They do...but we make a point of NOT watching it.

I think shipping booze across state lines is illegal. I know it would be illegal to ship it here to GA.

This was just posted by someone who is a TA and called DCL.

I just called Disney and asked if they had made any changes and Megan at Disney said that if it passes through the airport than your good to go with them. She said they have the same machines as the airport and all should be fine.

As for those who plan to carry-on a rolling cooler at the port. That has not been changed as of yet and your still good to go.

I was just going to post the same thing. It is illegal for some states. They changed the law so that you can ship it TO FL but IDK if you could ship it from FL if your state doesn't accept it. :confused3

OK, so they can put it all in their checked bags. I guess that the airlines will be collecting lots of over limit fees?
