I want more than 8! The 5D is 12 I believe but the EOS1d has nire features with 8+ mp.

There is a camera with over 20mp but it cost more than my first house!

S3 si is 6 mp and 12x optical, sigh!

My rule: If you buy anything dealing with technology, DO NOT look online or read the same magazines you used to make your decision any more, at least for awhile. It will drive you crazy with the new stuff you could have had!

Caroline, I will always lean to the Canon family. I really like the colour quality.

The S2 Si is still available down in the states and it great camera, but a little big (I like that feels solid.) It is in the 350 range giving room for buying cards.

Camera talk reminds me too much of computer talk. I am asked what I am looking for and the problem is I don't KNOW what I am looking for. I also don't know what I need. I just want it to be good and worth while.

I'm a Canon fan too. So that should narrow your search down, since it's endorsed by PJ, Brack and me!

The S2 IS and S3 IS both look good. I'll pull out my Consumer Reports info to give you some other options.
