There are and you do not have to use them in the time noted, you can use them later-just not earlier than the listed time. Last July I collected fast passes for all the rides we wanted to go on, then late in the day we just went and rode.

This is what we always do at WDW. :thumbsup2 It works like a charm. :)

Well, for one thing, I already have clothes for the kids thru to the next 3 size ranges. DD is going into 6x and I have 7-8, and 10-12 put away for her. Between hand me downs and clearance deals it hasn't cost me very much at all. I looked at WM.com and to have enough uniforms for the kids for the year it would cost me $500...not counting special shoes, socks, or belts.

DS...6 pants, 6 shorts, 6 ss polos, 6 ls polos, 1 carnigan
DD...6 pants, 3 shorts, 4 skorts, 6 ls polos, 6 ss polos, 2 carnigans.

These are all on sale in some way.

Also beyond that it is the principal of the thing. Besides the fact that these are public schools...the school they go to is falling apart. The superintendant once again went in and raised the roof warning everyone their jobs are on the line if A, B, & C happen again. IMO they are putting too much energy into the outward appearance and not focusing on making what is really wrong with the school right. I feel that it is like putting silk and velvet on a framework made up of toothpicks instead of 2x4s.

Sounds to me like someone needs to go to a board meeting and push to have the Superintendent removed. I know that is what would happen in our district. Believe me, from John being on the board, I have been to plenty of board meetings where parents have come to voice their concerns. Maybe the board doesn't know of all the issues. Not only to you get the attention of the board, but of the media that is there to cover the meeting.

Here I thought you were going to tell Lisa that we are lucky if Sophia has something to wear in her current size . . .

Which reminds me, since you are home hun, laundry needs done!

Instead you sent Lisa to go "Harper Valley PTA" - good luck Lisa!

Devon needed just as many "regular" clothes those three years we did the whole Catholic Schools uniform thing......

Because once they get home from school they change into normal clothes.

I only ever had two jumpers. 3-4 shirts. (We couldn't wear pants)

Sears always had good deals on the shirts (but we had those cotton dress shirt round collered kind)

Then one day a week they wore their gym clothes (sweats or shorts)

I would think you could get by with 3 sets and wash mid week.

that sounds rigorous but also a good basis of comparison - our half day K has 25 sight words for the entire year. I would think the spelling words become sight words just from the exercise of looking at them to get the correct spelling.

thanks Joy!!!

The private kinder is an all-day program... but they also include art, music, Spanish, and computers. I imagine it's hard to get through everything in half-day (our district is just under 3 hours per day, including recess). That's why I opted to send Nick (will send Sarah) to private. It just seems less rushed, and it's not really that much more money than all day preschool/daycare, which I already pay now.

JOY ---- long time no hear! How are you all doing?

Hi!!!! Sorry everyone... I have been slightly lurking.... I got really sick with the flu for 2 weeks in April. Easter Sunday was a haze... I was in bed for a week with fever, chills, aches, etc. Then I developed asthma and lung inflammation and couldn't stop coughing. I really don't recommend it....:sad2:

We're heading down to DL for Memorial Day weekend so I am looking forward to that!:cheer2:

  Hope you feel better!

Enjoy DL! Annette and I going right after Memorial Day to WDW for a couple of days. Short but sweet! :woohoo:

LOL! Thanks for making me smile, John. I have had it with this school. Ever since we went to the superintendent in January & warnings have been issued I have been working on the committee to fix things. It is so political that it makes me ill! I am not going to let that school affect my health any more. I honestly don't have it in me to fight this anymore...my head is pretty beat up from banging it against the wall. I can honestly say that I have worked all year to get these problems corrected. Next election I am going to pay attention to the board candidates...and right now plan on voting for every new person who signs up!

I really don't want to be tied to having to do laundry twice a week. Hopefully the job comes thru soon and I will be scheduling my own hours. I am looking forward to having something else to focus on. Jumpers are out because they would be too heavy with a shirt in the warm months and then you have to worry about how they sit down so noone sees their underwear...so skorts or shorts would be her choices. I talked to a friend at that school today & feel a bit better about it. The girls can wear capris too! Their shirts have to be either white, gold (yellow), or purple...and can be any shade of these colors...except white of course. ;) If the kid has a problem with wearing a belt...just cut off the loops!!! :thumbsup2 I am going to pick up a request to be placed out of district form tomorrow morning and find out how to get DS in their AG program starting at the beginning of school. I am hoping that those teachers can just communicate & take care of that.

How awful!!!! :( Glad that you are doing better. Have a great time at DL! :cool1:

We actually have that here and I considered it but decided against it. I would have had to make the decision when DS was 4...to have him skip the 3 year PS class and go to the 4 year so that he would have that prep for Kindergarten. He didn't start reading until he was 5...in the 4 year PS class. The test they give kids to make an exception to the cutoff is so strict. Those kids have to be PERFECT to be approved while you have kids entering K "legally" by age who are way less prepared. Once the kids get into the school system they are essentially screwed because it can be difficult to completely skip a grade of material to make it up later.

Here the cutoff is 10/15. If we had moved to MD when DH was offered a job before DS started K, he would be in the 3rd grade this year.

I wouldn't have sent my kids either. But who they should be testing is some of the 4 yr olds who did not turn 5 until Oct or Nov. - and maybe they should have been held back because they just were not ready to be there yet.

LOL - I am right there with you Lisa. We almost had a strike - I had to explain to the kids what a strike was. Now our roof is leaking so badly that every ceiling tile in Giona's room is down and they learn surrounded by garbage cans of stagnant rain water.

Two board of Ed. members came to our last PTA meeting to glad hand etc.
I said that everyone has to think seriously before voting in these same people under which all this has happened. ENOUGH.

Angie - did you see the Disneyland rehab list - there are several things down including Splash Mountain. Some of them may be re-opened by your visit but we will miss them. booohooo. The Splash rehab is several months long - wonder what they are doing.

I am going to attend a PTO meeting this next month . . .

I try not to be just a "glad hand" - I really do Elaine . . .

I have to say John these two guys came down and seemingly wanted our vote just because they had come down to the meeting. We have a substantial problem with our roof - they just moved up by one year the date of the roof repair so it will be done this summer - they bid and were just about to sign the contract for the repair - both these guys claimed to be on the facilities committee, yet they could not tell us the name of the contractor whose bid they accepted. Nor did they have many details about the contract like what happens if the job is not finished by school start - "our lawyers look into all that". DUH? Wouldn't you think if they were visiting a school whose roof was leaking and asking for our vote they would have sought out the name of the contractor before arriving - or am I being unreasonable? These are nuts and bolts type questions that they should have been able to answer.

what do you think? maybe I am misunderstanding the process.

I have not looked to see what is closed while we are there. Unusual for me, I usually have planned in what order we will be riding what. :sad2: Maybe because it is just Dennis and I with son, dil and Aaron this time. No folks that have not been there that we need to make sure "sees it all."
