I am working on my application for this DBA position. I hate these kind of things. I hate having to write about how great I am. It just feels so pretentious to me. :sad2:

Congrats John! I heard it was a good game.

DH was flipping between the Missouri game and the NASCAR race. Missouri put up a good fight against Oklahoma but they blew it in the 4th quarter. This was their chance to move into the Top 10 but it was not meant to happen. Homecoming is this upcoming weekend and we are looking forward to the parade. It is a annual tradition for our family and the kids love it. We have always gotten donuts to go before we go to find our spot but with DS's allergies this year I have not figured out what to do. I may have to make some muffins or something but it just won't be quite the same. I hate that some of our traditions have to change because of DS's allergies. It is not his fault but I know he feels bad about it.

This doesn't make sense. Sophia's teacher has never mentioned speed in regards to reading. In fact, the reading program that they use is where the child brings home a book based on the level that the child is reading at. They have to read the book and then they take a test on the computer whenever they return the book. The test is to see if they comprehended what they had read.

So what if the child can read the test questions really fast, if she doesn't understand what she reads she won't be able to answer the questions and won't do well.

This is why I cannot even talk to them anymore. I feel like I am crazy talking to them and if I hear the word "indicator" one more time I will flip out. So we are now reading for an hour every night. She is reading nate the great and historical chapter books. She has trouble with new proper names until she sounds them out once, but other than that she seems fine to me and she reads at what I consider a normal speed. I wish someone would tell me where they expect her to be on this speed program... I wake up in the middle of the night and cannot go back to sleep having one way conversations in my mind with people who only care about test scores and have never actually heard my child read (not kidding here)

So here is my second evil confession. The school wanted someone to teach the gifted and talented 2nd graders in math and they sent home notification to everyone in the school because this is evidently hard to find.

This was the day after I learned they only care how you fit on the bell curve in a test session. So my thoughts are: gee, my PhD professor of mathematics father would love to help little kids, but if he helps them and Savannah (because she is fast enough at math) it will change the curve and then I will have to push her harder. This is just like graduate school, I remember this! So what did I do in grad school? Pick the smartest kids, form a study group and limit access.

So now my dad is teaching Savannah and her friends from ANOTHER SCHOOL times tables and division.....

This is psycotic. I am employing grad school technics on 2nd graders. I am so pleased I should probably start saving up for the post elementary school therapy that she will need.

Posting from the camp in WV. Hope everyone is doing good. W're just counting down the days until the cruise in December.

Excuse me while I get my virtual scream out. :rolleyes2: :headache: Work is driving me crazy this morning and I felt like this was a better option than standing up here in my cube and screaming out loud. :scared1:

You can go back to your regularly scheduled DISing now.

Becka, I felt that all the way here in Toronto,

HUGE HUGS!
Pj

Did it help, Becka? I hope so.
Can I get a virtual cure for my cold by posting here? Think of the possibilities!

John, I kept looking for you in the crowd at the game last night!

Sorry I scared you PJ! I just really had to get all that pent up frustration out of my system somehow. It is just not healthy to hold that kind of anger inside and my release options are limited here at work. :sad2:

Thanks, Becka, for the smile! But I'm kinda partial to the real Sudafed! You know, the stuff you have to get from the pharmacist, show your driver's license, and watch how much you buy. I like to live on the edge with my medication. The other day I had to get some kid Sudafed and regular Sudafed... was worried that I might have exceeded my limit, but the pharmacist let me buy the whole stash!!!:)

Wild mom on Sudafed, that's me.

Can you get real Sudafed in Canada? or have the drug dealers ruined it for you, too?

Woohoo... time for more cold medicine!

Ball Game!

Tribe wins 7-3!

Indians up 3-1!

One more game and off to the World Series!

Wahooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Congrats John! I thought of you this morning when I heard the score on the news. Since the Cardinals can't win it I will root for the Indians just for you. :)

Very strange morning here in mid-Missouri. The sky is scary and beautiful at the same time. To the west it is very, very dark with ominous storm clouds and lightning. To the east is a beautiful sunrise....just gorgeous - very colorful. All around we have swirling fast moving clouds and then to top it off looking towards the west there was a bright full rainbow over the storm clouds. Odd....

They are calling for us to get some strong storms today including the possibility for tornadoes. :scared1: I hope the strongest of the storms stay away from here. They sky looking so strange has me a bit worried.
