Becka my quick trip, 12/6-12/9 was planned in August, that is as short ahead as I have planned a trip, since the very first one in 2000. I completely know what you mean.

I assume you are talking Friday at WS . . . we talked to V tonight, and I think we were talking about doing that on Friday too. How about we say 2:00 Friday? Is there a good place to meet during the F&W festival? We could meet in front of Mexico. Does that work? Maybe the bridge right before Mexico? You pick.

We could always meet in Canada - LOL.

I am so bogged down at work. I miss you guys. After reading the last few pages I am so homesick for a cruise!!!

I am enjoying my Mac but I have not had much time to play. Unfortunately I have been sick for the past week and I am still not feeling very good. I have a nasty head cold that will just not let up. It still feels a bit foreign to me but I am adjusting.

Plus on Sunday we had our A/C condenser line overflow and flood part of our living room. It looked really bad but we actually managed to get it cleaned up. Water damage is a scary, scary thing. We got everything dried out and we got new padding down and relayed the carpet last night. It is not a professional job by any means but at least it is back down again. Talk about stress....

Plus my company has posted an internal position for a DBA (database administrator) and I think I am going to go for it. I have had an interest in being a DBA for a while but I never had the confidence to apply before. I promised myself that they next time they hired for one internally I would apply so wish me luck!

Becka, just say "I am the DBA, I am the DBA". Good luck!!! You are the DBA!!!

I also happened to notice that the repo cruise now has a longer thread that we do. It was bound to happen but it was a fun ride while it lasted, huh?

well, I am very happy with this thread and it is still a fun ride. And that is the true miracle.

Last minute plans too . . . Amy decided long enough with no WDW - we are going to WDW from the 25-29 - super short notice to get a Disney fix. Can you believe if we make it to the World Series I will be flying down while Game 2 is being played in Cleveland?????

John, Can't Amy call Steve and convince him of the same thing? He says we have to save.... bla bla bla bla. I hate it when he is responsible.

Amy said let's go, and the next thing I know I am booking a flight (yes, on the dreaded Southwest, but for $79, who can complain?)

If I even thought about planning this, we probably would not be going. Once we found out V and PJ were going to be there, we just HAD to go!

Elizabeth's school calendar shows "Freshman class trip to Disney World" for the week after school ends in June.... I'm curious to find out more about her class trip. But of course her sister's school is still in session that week.

Just missed the Drats!

I talked to my boss this morning about the DBA position and he gave me his "reluctant blessing". He thinks it would be a great opportunity for me and he thinks I would be an extremely strong candidate but he would hate to lose me on his team. Hopefully I will get the position if it is meant to be.

One plus is that I think my vacation schedule would be more flexible since I wouldn't be dealing with year end taxes, W-2's etc.. I still wouldn't have the money to vacation as often but at least we would have a better choice of available dates.

Did I tell you DGS said his band will be doing another DL trip in the spring? But, we will be taking a bus, not flying. Ok, we can do this! We love the band kids, but a bus for 20 some hours!

Scary news:
A teen was apparently plotting a Columbine-style attack at our local high school. Luckily, another kid found out about it, and went to the police with his dad. Police found lots of weapons, hand-grenades, etc in the kid's room. The kid had left the district in 7th grade to be homeschooled. The suspect's name hasn't been released, but according to all the kids, the boy was in Elizabeth's year; she had 7th grade science with him before he left school.
Now, Elizabeth switched to an all-girl's Catholic high school this year, so she's not at the targeted school, but Hannah's elementary school is behind the high school (just the athletic fields separate the buildings). So, even though nothing happened, it's pretty scary to think about "what if?"
Oh, and even worse: the kid's mom bought the semi-automatic weapon for him (may have done more!)
