I hit Goody's today with DS & found three skirts on clearance. They were B2G1F so I paid $37 for $220 worth of skirts. :) Not sure if I will be wearing one of them on the cruise... I tend to dress a bit more but might take a casual outfit for one night. I'll have to see what everyone else in the house will be wearing. I know that I have my formal & semi taken care of & there are a few more dresses from previous cruises that I can pick from for Palo.

Good deals are all over it seems! I picked up Disney Princess flashcards at the dollar store yesterday...they had matching, addition, subtraction, ABC's - all kinds. I plan on sticking those in giftbaskets for the girls along with the Disney Princess Graco soft baby set that I ordered from DD.

Oh yes, we have the flash cards from there...along with all the workbooks. I picked up some Cars erasures too.

They had some stickers but it was $1 for a sheet with not all that many on....call me cheap but Oriental Trading has a much better gig on those!

V- you need to get busy downloading pictures from your trips and posting to your trip reports instead of going to the dollar store!

I bought some green sandals to day to go with my shirt!!

I learned a valuable lesson last year. We took our family on vacation to Hawaii last december and I tried to find clothes for all of us in November. Well, because it snows 24 inches in 24 hours several times a year, they do not sell summer clothes in the winter. I ended up spending a fortune online and in Hawaii, so this year I have hit the sales and socked it away. Mostly for DD who I am hoping won't grow to much...

Mother superior, wow, tough song! Love to hear it, any chance of an encore performance?

Kim

LOL! Yes, Kim! Stick around us & you will have everything socked away for the trip. ;) I actually have things for the next few years for the kids. I even ordered shirts the next size up for DS. By that time, DD will be out of her smalls & can have her DB's mediums....and we can still match. ;) :lmao:

The way those Disney shirts are sized I figure DS will get quite a few years of use out of them. ;)

I have been looking for books to get about the Mayan culture so DS & the rest of us can read them before our trip. I found out some interesting information on the tour site.

http://www.chacchobenruins.com/wst_page6.html

You can take as many photos as you wish, the only limitation is that tripods are not allowed unless a special fee is paid. Requests for permission to use tripods must be directed to the INAH (National Institute of Anthropology and History) regional office in Chetumal.

Please observe that there's a fee for the use of video cameras, it is $30.00 Pesos and must be paid at the service area. You'll get a receipt that will be checked upon your entrance or could be required once you are inside.

It also says that the average exchange rate is $10 pecos = $1 US dollar...so $3 fee to use video cameras. LMK if anyone would like more info about the tripods.

RE shopping:
Although there aren't fancy shops, you'll see that local people are entering the tourism business and have set a small commercial area where you'll find souvenirs.

Prices are definitely lower than at Costa Maya, and can get lower depending on your ability to negotiate.

Observe that credit cards and travel checks are not accepted, only cash (US Dollars and Pesos).

Also...Our recommendations!
Comfortable walking shoes are basic.

Bring a bottle of purified water or buy it at the service area, you'll need it.

Bringing or buying bug spray would be wise.

Make sure your camera is ready with enough film and batteries, you might not get them at the site.

Chacchoben is now a protected area, please avoid smoking during the walking tour.

It isn't permitted to enter the site with food or alcoholic beverages.

There aren't trash cans in the ceremonial center, please use the ones at the service area. Help us keep it clean!.

Becka,

I got Sophia an iPod Shuffle (512 mb is only $69) and it is great on car trips. She plugs in to her music, and is happy for hours. They are also pretty simple to operate for a youngster.

I've been mowing and cleaning up the yard all day - we finally got some sunshine here. Also been training the dog on the underground fence. Really a great thing - I can now play fetch across the yard and try to wear her out, but she will still come in and counter surf! She really picked up on it quickly, and won't go near those flags.

With all of this talk about iPods (I LOVE mine  ) I thought it might be a fun little way to learn something about people if you put your iPod/mp3 on shuffle and put down the first 10 songs. No cheating even if it is one of those embarrassing songs. I always think I can learn a lot about somebody just from the kind of music they listen to. I happen to be listening to mine so I guess I will go first. Gee, I hope nothing too bad comes up.... :rotfl:

Ok what does that say about me? ;)

I haven't bought an iPod yet; although I have come close a few times. I do have an XM radio in my car and office. I listen to Deep Tracks and Classical music. I have picked 10 songs that I would want to have if stranded on a deserted island. They are:

Changes in Latitude - Jimmy Buffet
Easy Livin' - Uriah Heep
The Hangmen - Mason Profitt
One Body in Christ - John Michael Talbot
Roundabout - Yes
I Know You by Heart - Monty Montgomery
Sexy Sadie - Beatles
Toccata - Mannheim Steamroller
Enter the Sandman - Metallica
Love Broke Thru - Phil Keaggy

What do you think?

That is outrageous! Ours was given to us but I KNOW that it didn't cost that much. Sounds like you need to go shopping in Orlando...or know someone who can get one for you cheaper. ;)

I bought my XM Roady for $25 and my office model for $50

I noticed a few songs from Wicked on those shuffle lists. I have the book on my to be read pile. Off topic but did you like it? Is it scary? (okay I admit it I still close my eyes when the teacher is riding her bike and becomes the witch in the movie - yikes). I really wanted to see it in NY and now the touring show is coming here. I love going to shows. DD saw her first musical last month - Annie.

Wicked is a great musical. One of the songs called 'Dancing thru Life" is the ringtone I use for my DW.

getting sirius in the new jeep this week(XM wont be around for too many more years )LOL ...Have it in my truck but since the truck is being sold I have to make sure its in the new fun ride...

I think Brack is on to something here . . .

Ten songs you would want with you if stranded on a desert island . . .

Here's mine - not in any particular order:

1. You Can't Always Get What You Want, Rolling Stones
2. The Secret of Life, James Taylor
3. You've Got a Friend, James Taylor
4. Against the Wind, Bob Seger
5. Thunder Road, Bruce Springsteen
6. Pride (In the name of Love), U2
7. Brown Eyed Girl, Van Morrison
8. Bridge Over Troubled Water, Simon and Garfunkel
9. Here Comes the Sun, The Beatles
10. Up on the Roof, James Taylor

As you can see, I like JT quite a bit - I've probably seen him in concert more than any other artist. Every one of these songs brings back lots of memories. I do listen to a lot of new music, it just hasn't made my all-time favorites list - Yet.

Well this game is a lot less embarassing than the last game... But my little secrets are already out there.

I have been trying to catch up on the main site and it sounds like quite a few of you ganged up on a poor :stir:. Lisa and Becka - You go girls! Lets not have any more of that "testy banter". Boy, Lisa do you ever feel like the school principal? I bet John could give you some tips on that. :rotfl2:

I am trying to use more graphics in my posts, so if they don't work, blame it on my DIS novice.
