Trying to clear up this Smarties problem.... To me, Smarties candies are those little tablet-sized fruity candies. Apparently they're known as Rockets elsewhere. And, if my Googling is correct, the other Smarties are like M&Ms. We need to keep our candy references clear!! Because I couldn't see the Smarties in combination with potato chips.

How about dipping potato chips in chocolate ice cream?
(the saltier the chips, the better)

Will have to try that on the ship, they have chips at one of the counter places right, oh oh oh, room service sandwiches come with chips!

Oh, and the fruity Smarties... contain dextrose/corn syrup solids. Another product off the list.

OK guys can I vent here? I swear sometimes I don't understand DH. Is it just that he is lazy or :confused3 or what!!!

I do sometimes lay out the kids clothes the night before but honestly a lot of the time I just don't remember but I really can't figure out hard hard it can be to pick out clothes for the kids each morning. He puts the wrong clothes on the wrong kid, he puts things on backwards, he puts them in clothes that are obviously wrong for the season (sweatshirts in July, tank tops in February), etc.. Am I expecting too much? AAAARRRRGGGGG!

Now Becka, this is the man you love after all.

We have the same problem here. Ken could never figure out Jaea's clothes. They would have the sash in the front. The buttons in the back etc. - granted girl clothes are tricky.

I always buy funky colors and he would often put Jaea into Giona's purple clothes etc. I would look at it and it would scream girl outfit but... hey, he has no fashion sense. I usually buy his clothes too.

Our biggest problem is that the kids do lots of outdoor activities and it necessitates several changes of clothes a day. For hiking, he wants polyester - who buys poly kids clothes? I told him that he needs to go to an outdoor shop and buy all that he wants to have for them because they don't sell the specialty stuff at Gymboree etc.

I organized all the winter hats, gloves, neck gaitors, wool socks into separate girl and boys ziplocks - I told him that he was in charge of it from then on. Every time they get dressed to go snowboarding, ice skating etc. it is a disaster. LOL.

But it is frustrating. I can either get mad about it or be glad that he is hands on enough to be taking them to these activities which they now enjoy.
You have to catch me on the right day to find the answer to that.

When the kids are younger, it is easier to have them swap clothing - but now Giona will not want to be caught wearing pink and yellow. KWIM?

Ken pointed out that there are some things that I do well and some things I don't want to do - like get the cars fixed etc. Same for him.

My favorite Ben and Jerry's is called Chubby Hubby - it has salted pretzels, nuts, etc. I just love getting that surprise taste of salt from the pretzel mixed in with the ie cream.

Elaine, haven't found that one up here yet, will have to make a trip to the Beaches one of our two Ben and Jerry's. I have liked Chunky Monkey, banana ice cream, chocolate chunks and walnuts, for years, though.

And Becka, I don't know what to tell you about the clothing issue... DH is out of the house early, so he's not around when the others are getting ready. Elizabeth can watch out for Hannah's appearance if I'm not around, so he has competent backup there. Hannah's fashion choices ... oy. Bad color coordination, pattern coordination, choices (picking the "demoted-to-play/gardening/painting-only" clothes for church!)

Maybe it is because he has been doing the laundry and doesn't know what clothes go where?:confused3 DH has been very lucky that we have all girls, but he has gotten the size thing and the front/back thing wrong before...

oh come on Caroline - your hubby is a gem - I thought he was really good with the girls and he seems like nothing really fazes him - that is why Ken liked him too.

From the male species (ok except for maybe John...) Yes it's expecting too much... They just don't notice these things...

Now maybe if you put Nathan in a skirt and ballet shoes he may get the picture... But even to my DH..oh is it blue? Then it's jeans...

I always had to lay stuff out or be prepared for the outcome...

Men...Can't live without em'...Can't shoot em'

:grouphug:

I think we want to control this stuff because that is the Mom's way, very often. But when you let go and realize that you can just put a sweater on over the tank top then it becomes far less problematic. Of course I would never put a tank top on a child in the winter either. But if you need help and ask for it - you have to be willing to take a little less than the perfection that you would provide and Nathan is none the worse for it.

Give Aaron a lollipop and tell him you really appreciate his help but could you suggest next time that he choose a long sleeve shirt for Nathan. The approach for husband and son is very similar in my experience. ;)

We just got a new car and Ken suggested I read the mini-manual that came with it - duhh - would I ever? I start the car and drive. It would be like getting him to notice whether Jaea was wearing one of my shirts or not. ;)
KWIM?

It's really a test of human nature - there are just some tasks we do that are more attactive than others and that we give a greater deal of attention to.

How many dads would spend that long finding the right foods for his son's allergies? I'd say he's a keeper!!!

Yes! REAL smarties have no chocolate!:stir:

Maybe a diamond in the rough.....that is still VERY rough!;)

Very true! He is looking out for Nathan's best interest where it counts the most!

Gotta run. Amanda has dance and I really should buy some paint so DH sees I did something today.:rotfl:

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

:grouphug: BECKA :grouphug:

I have to say that when it really matters, DH can get both of the kids dressed appropriately. If it is a weekend and we aren't going anywhere special DD will pick out her clothes. Sometimes they match...sometimes not so much. She is learning though. I just have to smile when she comes downstairs with everything including a headband that doesn't match and is pushing her hair up. :rotfl:

I have the opposite problem - Jaea has too much a sense of what she wants to wear - believe me it is easier the other way. I will suggest 3 outfits - if she vetoes them all - she is on her own. Today she wore a pink dress, pink sweater and a headband as a choker around her neck. She shows me up all the time - lol. I just was never very girly.

She has no idea how I will be letting her down when it comes to hairstyles and makeup.

Giona on the other hand, often puts his clothes on over his pajamas because it means he has to look away from his Legos for a few minutes. He has settled on a pattern of wearing everything of one color - blue pants, blue shirt, blue sweater.

How could twins be so different?

Becka....DH rarely gets the kids dressed and definitely not during the week as he is up and gone by 6am. He helps me on his day off but only after I pick the outfits out.

I do have to say he's got the good end of the deal...he only has to get himself up, dressed and off to work....I have three people to get ready before getting out the door and then a stop at daycare. But then he does agree to many Disney trips and lots of frivilous purchases.....

DH has it easy in the am as far as the kids go. He gets up by 5 am, closes their doors so he doesn't wake them up, and gets ready. He leaves while we are all still sleeping.

OK guys can I vent here? I swear sometimes I don't understand DH. Is it just that he is lazy or :confused3 or what!!!

I was in the bathroom getting ready while he was giving the kids breakfast and getting them dressed. I come into the living room when I am done and I find the kids. Nathan is dressed in a TANK TOP and Allie is wearing one of her brothers shirts that is obviously 3-4 sizes too big and it hanging down below her knees. :confused3 WTH!!!! We have a winter storm warning and he thought a tank top was OK? Also how could he fail to notice how large the shirt was on Allie. :confused3

WHY???? Could someone please explain this to me? I just don't get it. Last week he put a pair of 2T sized ruffled jeans on Nathan and when Nathan complained they didn't fit DH ignored him. :sad2: Nathan came running to me to tell me there was a problem with his pants. Ya think??? I can't even figure out how he got them on in the first place.

HE'S A MAN! pug: Remember what Tim Allen said "Men are pigs!" They had clothes on and he could have sent them out in loin cloth!

I'm looking good to my DW now!
:lmao:

How many dads would spend that long finding the right foods for his son's allergies? I'd say he's a keeper!!!

Very good point! I think that we all have something that we can replace "finding the right foods" with and it is what makes us still love our DHs or DWs. ;)
