Seriously? What does the dentist do with all that candy?

At the Halloween party we went to, there were friends of ours - a dentist and his wife. One year she told us, she was made to give out toothpasted by her DH . . . She said one kid said to her "This isn't really toothpaste is it? I bet when I squeeze it, it is candy" She said she told him no, it is toothpaste, and then went in the house and hid!

thanks to everyone who gave me :grouphug: last night. I went in today and opened the office again and closed it. My boss did finally come in and we sat down and talked. our budget is extremely tight right now. I thought he might offer a small bonus or something to make up for all the extra time and stress. he basically said that there is very little we can do. we can't pay out the vacation because our personnel policies prohibit that. we can't carryover the vacation time because our personnel policies prohibit that. he did say that if I run out of vacation time next year he would grant me an additional week without any problem. I tried to explain to him that there was no way I would run out of vacation time. I tried to explain to him that I can't take what I earn because of the way the office is structured and operates. He just doesn't get it. I actually did feel better after talking with him because at one point I told him that I was planning on coming in today and telling him he had to do my job for a week without me. He said "there is no way I can do what you do". that did make me feel that he does realize how much I do. I can't wait until Dec 8th. We leave for Indy and catch a plane the next day. I am not going to worry about what happens. I am not going to stress over whether the payroll gets done, or whether the phones work, or whether the computers crash during the check run. Someone else gets to do that for 2 weeks. I don't know who will do it but at this point, I am comfortable with letting it go.

thanks again for the support. you guys are great.

If your computer is an older model the USB port in the front probably isn't 2.0 but 1.1 and it doesn't have the power for the iPod.

Yes that's it....I knew it's some kind of power issue but didn't know those terms....

Our computer is about 4 years old (not a dinosaur) but we had this problem with DD's Ipod..... a dis'r actually helped me solve my problem by telling me to plug into the back and then my computer recognized the unit.

Goofy, not always...

THe two I have on the front of mine work just fine with the wifes 30g video Ipod and the DD's sandisk player.

It will probably depend on the computer, and the amount of power going to those USB ports. Some USB ports do not carry adequate power for charging iPods - some do. Depends on your setup.

Having never eaten there, I guess I need to know the story with the ketchup. :confused3
Just make sure you aren't the first person in the dining area to ask for ketchup. I know my dear neice who was seven at the time said she will never ask for ketchup again at a restaurant.

Carla - I just noticed the engraving!!! I am LOVING the IPOD world and I didn't even really get to use it yet!!!! Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! A million and more thank you!
You are very welcome. I am seeing you are having some issues. Did it come with the CD? I don't know what is in the new packages. I forgot you have dial up. ITunes 7.0.2 is the newest version. Is that the one you have loaded?

Brandi, after you have finished downloading iTunes again, install, and open it. Make sure that your ipod is not connected at this time. (It comes with an 80% charge, and will charge once you connect it after itunes is installed.)

Ok, do you have music on your computer? In iTunes click on File, Add to Library, chose files or folders to add to the iTunes. Make playlists that you like, I find it is easier to load a group of playlist to a nano, then single songs. I also will drag and drop extra single files to the nano that just don't fit with a playlist.

Then connect your iPod. It may take up to one minute the first time to recognize the iPod, this is ok.

Click on the ipod in the left navigation bar.

now your iTunes should show all the catagories that could be on the nano, chose to manually manage iPod. Say Yes to the pop-up.

Click on the music tab, and chose to update selected playlists or do not update, and you will get to drag and drop, playlists and songs to your nano.

Any questions, PM or post. Begin the journey.

Pj

ETA: POST 3000 and it is about an iPod, so typical, lol.

Amazing!!

Sometimes I think the days of June Cleaver might have been easier. At least then you did not have guilt about if you were making the right choices....they were made for you. :sad2:

I understand not feeling passion for what you do. One of the things I lament the most is that in my normal day I don't really help anyone. I don't make any difference except to a bottom line. I know I should probably do more volunteer work to try to balance it out but as a full-time working Mom I feel like I don't spend enough time with my kids as it is. Adding a lot more volunteer time just cuts into that. Hopefully someday my kids will be able to volunteer with me some.
the problem with my job is that I do feel I am making a difference. I work at an agency that helps people with developmental disabilities. I am the finance director but so much more. I have met and made friends with people that weren't suppose to live a real life. I have learned from people whose parents were told would never be able to learn. I have gone on trips with people who were never suppose to go outside. I love what my agency does. I usually love what I do. Sometimes it just gets so over whelming knowing that I can never get totally caught up. Then I get a call from a parent whose child was expelled because he acted out at school, and she tells me that her child can't control what he does eventhough he has a plan for defusing situations. but the teachers and school administrators don't think there is any reason to follow it because her child will never be able to complete high school anyway. I know that life is not perfect. I know there are challenges for all of us. I just wish that we did live in a world that could support all people no matter there ability. I am very committed to what I do and believe in. My father was a special education professor. My brother had severe learning disablities. I now work in a field that I grew up in and I really do feel that I can make a difference. I just wish my boss would work a little bit harder. Sorry, I will get off the soap box now.

It didn't come with the CD. I tried "running" version 7 but now I am "saving" it. It does take a long time with dial-up.

John helped me. He was great. I am just so anxious to use this little bugger. It is so cute!

When she asked how late someone would be there for people to pick up their orders today (IOW how late would *I* be there) I said 2:30. When she questioned me about that I told her that I would not put my family thru that again and needed to recover from last night's problems.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

:cheer2: :woohoo: :yay: Good for you!!

the new ipods do not come with a disc, iTunes gets updated to often, for the disk to be up today for more then a couple of weeks.

Someone help me because I am dense and slow. Where is WCC?
wilderness lodge. if you ever get a chance to eat there, do it. we got in just by luck. ADRs are really needed most of the time. our kids had a blast and so did DH & I. it really made up for the fact that our room wasn't ready until after 5:30.

Excellent. He is great isn't he! :thumbsup2 So no DSL capabilities in area? Verizon needs a big ol' tower in your neck of the woods.

My DS had his first show and tell this morning. He took his favorite Thomas train. It is funny but Henry is his favorite. He could not remember 1 thing that a girl had for her show and tell. The first thing he told me was that the one boy had a tractor. He was funny. I actually took a picture of him holding his first show and tell item!

Carla,

Apple stopped including CD's with their new packaging . . . They ASSUME everyone has broadband . . .

Anyway, Brandi's issue is the version of iTunes (she had 4.0), and I tried to help her out. It is hard to think sometimes on the Windows side though!

Good luck Brandi!
