oh my.....my bad weeks seem to just keep rolling. I think I am having the turn 32 pre mid life crisis. These girls....I cannot begin to imagine age 16.

Oh V...That's why they give you 16 yrs to get to that point...You need it...
But what worries me more for you is when your two pre-teen girls hit puberty....Yes it starts there and more..no need to wait till 16 anymore....

I'll be 36 when dd turns 16.... Young enough to remember all the tricks she'll try to pull but old enough to know better... (Shame i won't be old enough to feign senility through it all.)

But Haley's teacher is concerned by her speech - well, lack thereof. (her ped is NOT, he wrote down all the words she said in his office and said she was fine)....now I know this is MY FAULT. I let her have a binky.... And Samantha speaks for her and above all. I can tell what she wants/needs by her looks and actions and I try to anticipate that. But I guess now I won't.

First a comment on binky's... Great when they're first born..Not so great later on... One of my dear friends had a son who had to have speach therapy at age 4 when he started pre-k. The speach therapist said he needed to re-learn all his words due to learning to speak with a binky in his mouth. Said he didn't learn how to announciate right.

and as for not talking much...my 3 yr old nephew was like that last year too... My Dsis was giving him everything without making him try to ask for it or say the words.... He's babbling away now..not more than a year later though.....

I guess they should require testing before you become a parent. Johnny and I probably shouldn't be parents.

Now you know you're doing the best you can...We all are... The hard part of being a parent is that they don't come with instructions and the training....well it's mostly on the job if you know what i mean. ;)

and to be honest. I don't want to rush her through anything. With Samantha I was there, with a notepad waiting, wishing, willing her to do something great.....I'm sorry. I guess they should require testing before you become a parent. Johnny and I probably shouldn't be parents.
Hang in there V. The most important thing is that they know their parents love them. DD developed speech slowly and none of her teachers gave a flip about it. Just the fact that you are worried about it shows that you are a

oh my.....my bad weeks seem to just keep rolling. I think I am having the turn 32 pre mid life crisis. These girls....I cannot begin to imagine age 16. Somewhere along this motherhood journey, I am just not V anymore. And selfishly I know, but I hate that. Alot. I know we are AWFUL parents. We are pretty go with the flow and I am a spoiler, so I have created these monsters myself. I just want everything for them to be so much better than it was for me. Is there a way to incorporate that without creating brats?

Then today. The school schedules conferences...so far they have always said no need - they go over the children's skills and where they are lacking. But Haley's teacher is concerned by her speech - well, lack thereof. (her ped is NOT, he wrote down all the words she said in his office and said she was fine)....now I know this is MY FAULT. I let her have a binky....we're lazy I know. And Samantha speaks for her and above all. I can tell what she wants/needs by her looks and actions and I try to anticipate that. But I guess now I won't. All this goes in their school record so I feel my not even 2 year old is being judged.....and I know they have to evaulate....but gosh. I feel like such a failure. And I know without a doubt she is the absolute favorite at school. This child gets SO much attention I am embarrassed (well, sometimes) the teachers from the other class come and visit her. Everyone HOLDS her all day long and even the kids in Samantha's class all scream "Haley" when we come in. And above all she is the teeniest one there....but they all tell me, she has no issues holding her own and that no one....boy or girl takes anything away from her.

and to be honest. I don't want to rush her through anything. With Samantha I was there, with a notepad waiting, wishing, willing her to do something great.....I'm sorry. I guess they should require testing before you become a parent. Johnny and I probably shouldn't be parents.

First of all....they are in PRESCHOOL!!!! This information DOES NOT go on their perminant school record. :) Nothing before 5th grade really counts. Most of the kids around here do NOT go to PS....think of the advantage that she will have when she starts Kindergarten. She will not have to go thru all of this then. :thumbsup2 The 5th grader that DD fought against last week told his mom that I shouldn't worry about anyone bothering her or trying to take her away. LOL! That is a GOOD thing. :thumbsup2 The 2 year PS teachers also told me that DD was great to have around because unlike all of the older siblings that were in the class who cried or whined when another kid took what they were playing with and ran to the teacher to get it back, DD simply went right over to the kid who took the toy, said no, and took it back going on with her play. They thought that it was a positive thing. :confused3

DS didn't open up to anyone else until he was over 3 yo. He didn't pass the "tests" that the doctor gave him at 1 or 2. I told him that I knew my child & his personality made him clam up & not do what was asked. He was fine. The doctor trusted my judgement on this with both kids. DD's 2 yo test was hysterical actually. :lmao: They wanted her to feed a doll a bottle. Well, two problems....she didn't have dolls (and this one was ugly!!!) and she had never taken a bottle so didn't know what it was. :lmao: I told the nurse that if she wanted me to go out to the car & get her sippy cup & teddy bear, she would do what she wanted her to.

V, I have one more question about this teacher that critized your baby. You don't have to answer here but answer to yourself.

I she a college educated, certificate holding, official Preschool teacher? Or, is she like I was one year, a PT mom off the streets trying to teach in a PS atmosphere?

None of the teachers in our PS were "factory" trained. They were generally well experienced and loving but I wouldn't have taken their advice over the Doctors on speech developemnt.

Well, that's late enough for me. Tomorrow they had better watch out because I do not feel like holding anything back. If the principal asks me why I am not staying past 2:30 tomorrow I will simply tell her because I will not screw up my family life another day because people aren't courteous enough to show up when they are told. :rolleyes1

Speaking of Missy's bad day.

Who is planning on the Tequila tasting besides my DH and I?
Oh tequilla does bad, bad stuff to Angie.....or Angie does bad, bad stuff when on tequilla. Remember table dancing story and then there was the front lawn while poor DrHug had to take care of DD who had a migraine. But that cool grass felt soooooo good, never mind what the neighbors thought! HHmmmmm, I think not this time.

Extremely cool! :thumbsup2

And I heard it as CJS saying "No"...

Patsy, actually all the teachers (aside from the HS volunteers) are college educated (in some education field) and have had to go through the state of FL's requirement preschool teaching classes. (not sure of the formal names)

I guess my position is....they (as well as "we") baby her as much as anyone. For example. She is between rooms right now...but Haley has to make an "enterance in the Little Bee room" before being taken to the Big Bee room. While I am so pleased they love her to death, I fear that not only is it bad for the other children but it sets her up for life...not everyone is going to love her....(BUT look at her pics....who couldn't)

I know I am at fault for a lot. and just as bad to compare her to Samantha. Which the teachers do as well. .......apparantly Haley is the sweet one. (not at home)

Is it 1900 dinner that you are joining us then?

I'm so sorry. I must seem like the biggest cry baby this past month or so. I think every last thing is getting to me.
