12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

HOLY COW!!! Yeah, nevermind! But thanks for looking for me, Shari. I think I'll pack a few things myself and call it good. I want to get an ornament at each stop and one on the ship. I think I will cut a piece of garland to hang on the curtain and add the ornaments as we get them. :santa: Our room should look very festive by the end of the trip.

Can we do twinkle lights or is that frowned upon?
No twinkle lights. Fire hazard.

Hey - Must say THANK YOU to Dis mods for removing the perpetrator so quickly. YES! :thanks:

Val - There was a time when I thought of a pillowcase for autographs, but since I have no kids I wimped out. :rotfl2:

I've done the pillow case signing and it was great. Dropped off at guest services with multicolored wash proof pens and a great big bag of candy. Every character signed with a different color and drew some pictures. I bring it with me on the cruises and use it to sleep on. Fun!

We dress for Pirate night so you won't be alone!pirate:

Taswira, sorry you had a hard week last week, big hugs to you. I know you will have a fun day tomorrow, check out Duffy's Christmas outfit at EPCOT, it's nice. I get my stitches out tomorrow morning and think I have DH talked into the Osborne Lights tomorrow night. My wheelchair will be just the right seat for viewing the lights for the first time this year! Maybe we will see you there?

First case of confirmed Cholera in Florida...a woman returning from visiting family in Hatti is confirmed to have Cholera...others being investigated. Guess it was bound to happen. Glad that DCL is so on top of hand wiping at the restaurants and throughout the ship!

Val-I do pillow cases or T-shirts (the girls sleep w/ them) I've brought 2 other t-shirts and gave them to my nieces as a gift :) Just an idea.
I went out last night and today and bought a few things. Nightlites, hampers, dry erase boards...I was going to pick up motion sickness meds (JUST IN CASE, IT'S MY OLDEST 1ST CRUISE) but thought to ask here first...is onw better than the other...Bonine or drema(something)? I'll pick up some ginger candy but i want this on hand. I went on this cruise same time of yr 2 yrs ago and it was the 1st cruise i had that the boat had alot of motion. I actually seen people walking around w/ lil sick bags :( Ughhh, I don't want anyone to ever experience that. Be well everyone

OK that's funny. I live with the :firefight!!

Instead of pillow cases we did photo matte boards last time. We used them to frame the kids fav. cruise pics. Process was the same. We dropped them off at guest services with some salt water taffy. One of the cast members sought me out to find out which brand and how to order. Too cute! The mattes were easy to transport and easy to sign.

Ironically, for my many years of college because I wanted to learn everything about every single one of my interests - lol - I have a degree (with honors) in Fire Science. It would be nice, but things that can be safe on land can sometimes be not-so-safe at sea in the confines of a little cabin. DCL realizes that not everyone would do things the right way and be careful. So I can live with that. ;)

Two weeks from Saturday we'll be sailing! Can you believe it? :dance3:

I prefer Bonine over dramamine. I have both for the cruise!! :) Gab and I are the ones most prone to sea sickness. The hardest part is the first few hours on the first night.. something about the Gulf Stream. I did make the mistake last time of taking bonine, then shared a drink with John at the Sail Away Party... I was in bed by 10! it made me soo tired! :rotfl:

My kids love their pillowcases!! :) I might bring a photo mat this time! (we did black pillowcases 2 years ago and had gold/silver sharpies.) they turned out really well.

Do you think I could get one of those Cat.3 rooms if I slip a $20 to a DCL clerk at the terminal. We had Cat.3 last time it just one word describes it. SWEET!!! Plus Duffy will be with us and he has some "connections" with the Big Cheese.

Wow! Shari, we can't wait to actually meet you. Every one of my family members shares an interest with you. Between the fire sci, photography, African safaris, travel, love of stuffed beings etc etc we are so excited! :rotfl:

Can't wait! Fate (and your kindness) has matched me with the perfect tablemates for this cruise! :goodvibes :thanks:

We take Dramamine. We all do it as a prevent instead of waiting until we get sick. We take it the morning before the cruise and every morning until we get off. No one has gotten sick doing this so I will keep to that.

Too funny to whoever is wearing the bridesmaid dress. I am doing the same thing. Some rit die to darken the shade and an all new formal dress is made. Mine is from 14 years ago.

We all dress for pirate night too. It is so much more fun that way.

Now to actually pack.:laundy:

The Dh and I are each buying a large white vinalymantion at WDW before we set sail and are giving a large pile of sharpies to sign. I don't know what gift we wnat to give our characters yet, but I will need to find something great for them. What do they like? Anyone know?

I'm sure the 'munks would love some chocolate covered nuts!

:joker:

:welcome: Welcome to the ArmstrongFamily. I just got home from WDW to find their submitted sign-up form. They also signed up for the 'Munk Walk and are now on the list. :thumbsup2

Frank - I had notice of a request from Cynthia (of the aforementioned family) to join our Facebook group, but when I went on FB to approve it, it was gone. Did you see her request?

I actually called before our first cruise and asked what was a good gift for cabin stewards, signers of pillow cases, kids club counselors and so forth. At first I got the usual, "Oh they don't expect anything. They're just doing their job." But I did not give up! I eventually found out that like the rest of us they tend to enjoy things from other places that they don't normally get on the ship and things that make their life on board more tolerable.

We went with bags of salt water taffy because the best taffy in the world is made right here in Salt Lake. We also did iTunes gift cards to help with the boredom issue. Both seemed to be big hits. I know all the Disney cast members seem to take acting lessons and are very gracious but they seemed to genuinely enjoy both gifts. Our head waiter actually asked us for the website for the taffy as he wanted to send some to his family in Croatia. We gave him what was left to send instead but ended up giving the website out several times too! And Mac's kids club counselor said the iTunes card was the best gift he'd ever gotten. :wizard:

Went and bought 2 pillowcases for autographs today... does anyone else do this?

I am glad you brought this up -- I just bought 4 pillowcases to bring with us. Is there a limit to how many they will do? I, too, will be giving the other 3 away as Christmas presents, as long as they will do 4!
And, do I have to supply the writing instruments (sharpies, etc.) or will they have some? I didn't realize that we should gift them "gifts" so I am glad others mentioned that, too! This website is so helpful for those of us DCL Newbies!!!

I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!

I was told the rule of thumb for autographed things is one per person in the cabin. So we have 5 people... 5 things!
definitely supply your own markers. ( they are returned to you.) I just read to give red/ black sharpies for the photo mat...that color looks really good, so that is what I am doing. :) Natalie's room is purple.. so her signatures will be in 2 shades of purple. I have heard fabric markers work better..
