11 year as single rider?

I'm wondering about my 11 year old going as a single rider on some rides. I am particularly thinking of Test Track because I'd like to fast pass Soarin. But it might come up in other situations too.

He's a total rule follower so I feel very sure he would follow cast member directions and would meet back up where we told him to.

I seem to remember seeing 7 as the minimum age per Disney, is that right?

Anyone with experience or insight on this?

Thanks!

Yes.

The rule is 7. He should have no problem, as long as he wouldn't panic in the event of a ride mishap.

As long as he got instructions from a cast member he would be fine. If he got stuck in a dark spot for a long time, like twenty minutes, with no instructions, he would probably get pretty upset. I'm assuming that if a ride breaks down a cast member gets on some kind of PA system pretty quickly and starts giving directions? He would for sure follow directions.

Thanks!

My kids did it at 10 and 12 on Test Track with no problem. They wanted to ride again and the stand by was ridiculous. The FPs weren't until hours later (legacy). I gave them the option and they were all for it. So we all went in the single rider line. They were just instructed to wait in the exit area when they were don. No problem!

In most cases, there will just be a recorded message stating to remain seated. I'm sure he'll be fine. He should be with other people by using the single rider line anyway, so it's not like he will be completely alone. Just reassure him that in the event the ride stops suddenly that he needs to listen and remain calm. :goodvibes

My kids were doing single rider by the age of 11 on Test Track. I would say half the time, one of us, or their sibling was in the same car with them. Not always, but fairly often. They had no issues, and we have gotten stuck more than once. They have ridden it enough times to know it happens, and just sit patiently and wait.

My DD aged 12 did single rider on RnR and ToT several times last month while I waited outside the rides. She was fine and she's not brave really....

My DD rode single rider at Test Track, Everest, and RnRC two years ago when she was 9, no problem! :thumbsup2

My DD just did single rider at RSR in March at DL, a few weeks before her 8th b-day. She wasn't thrilled with the idea of riding by herself, but when I asked if she'd rather wait 20 mins in single rider or 80+ in SB, she hopped in the single rider line. She ended up riding with a really nice family and loved the experience.

He will be fine. We were in the single rider line with a 6 year old (yes the rule IS 7)! The wait can be a bit longer than you expect so dont worry if it takes a bit of time. If you have an extra cell phone and he does not have one, that might be a good idea.
