Oh what a bummer!! :( Where else are you planning so far?

I'm hoping to do BOG, Le Cellier, Jiko, and Artist Pointe. Of course, I need a trip reservation first. Lol! Just waiting on a discount. >.<

I had one of my favorite meals here last year, so I knew I definitely wanted to come back again. This would be DH's first time here.

Disney065.jpg

I love walking in here. It's so cozy and inviting. A nice break in the middle of the day.

Disney053.jpg

They don't serve bread at lunch, but that didn't stop us from asking for it ;)
Disney055.jpg

We really liked the honey butter that is served with the rolls.

Crab and Spinach Dip For Two
Blue Crab, Spinach, and Cream Cheese with Warm Flatbread
Disney056.jpg

DH and I split this since it was "for two" I had mixed feelings about this. It does not specify on the menu, but I had it in my mind that this would be a hot dip. I was expecting a gooey, cheesy dip. It was a cold dip, so I was a little disappointed. The flavor was good, and I liked the flatbread it came with, but I don't think I would get this again.

Tavern Fried Cheese

This is what my son got. Not much to say about it. It's your basic mozarella sticks. I was bummed they changed it from last year and did away with the curds. I really liked them!

New England Pot Roast . . . Our Tavern Keeper’s Favorite

Disney060.jpg

Dh and I both got the pot roast. I had it last year and loved it, so had to get it again! This really is a great dish. The meat is so tender, and has great flavor. The potatoes were creamy, and delicious.

Freedom Pasta
Fusilli Pasta with Sautéed Chicken, Seasonal Vegetables, and Mushrooms tossed in a Cream Sauce
Disney059.jpg

My son's choice was the Freedom Pasta. I thought it looked a little dry when placed on the table, but there was plenty of sauce on the bottom to be mixed in to the pasta. He really liked this. I tried a few bites for reporting purposes :lmao: I also thought it was very good. I expected it to be a little bland, but it was nice and cheesy and had good flavor.
Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake

My son and I both got this last year and loved it, so we both got it again this year and yup...still love it!

DH got this. It was pretty good, but couldn't compare to the ooey gooey goodness of my dessert

Been busy baking for the bake sale at my son's school tomorrow, so haven't had time for any other reviews, but here are some pics of my cupcakes :rotfl2:

LTT looks really good! I had cheese curds for the first time this year and loved them. Too bad they took them off the menu :/. The toffee cake sounds scrumptious :goodvibes:

Your cupcakes are adorable! Love the snowflake one :)

Yeah, wonder why they took them off the menu. The curds made it special. You have to try the toffee cake. It is sooo good! Thanks for the cupcake compliment. Hope they all sell.

This was another signature I was looking forward to trying. We didn't spend 20 minutes looking for it like we did for Narcoossees, so that was a plus! :lmao:

DH decided to booze it up a little. I'm sure it wasn't because of the company;) It was quite tasty!

Arancini Crispy Risotto with Cremini Mushrooms, Asiago, and Charred Tomato Coulis

Disney083.jpg

This is what my son got. He LOVES arancini. I got a tiny taste of this before it was inhaled. It's safe to say that it was a winner!

Cheese Course Trio Murcial al Vino from Spain Fourme dAmbert from Auvergne, France and

Petit Agour from the Basque region of France served with a Wild Strawberry and Balsamic Jam
Disney084.jpg

This was my choice because I adore cheese. This wasn't my favorite cheese plate. It wasn't bad really, just that I had much better ones at Narcoossees, Yachtsman, and Jiko.

Panadas Spiced and Slow-cooked Beef and Pork in crisp Phyllo with Tamarind Sauce
Disney085.jpg

I kind of "suggested" DH get this as an appetizer because I had read some good reviews about it. Neither of us were really thrilled with it. It was kind of dry. So far, my son was the winner in appetizer choices! I passed a table on the way to the ladies room, and of course checked out what was on their table..the Romaine Salad, and Butternut Squash Soup looked really good, and had me wishing we had ordered those instead.

Madeira-braised Short Ribs Trofie Pasta, Wild Mushroom Ragoût, and Truffle Crème Fraîche
Disney094.jpg

This was my son's choice. He loved this also! I was able to steal a few bites. The short ribs were perfectly tender and delicious. The sauce and pasta was really tasty.

Berkshire Pork Two Ways Chermoula-rubbed Rotisserie Pork Tenderloin and Roasted Berkshire Pork Belly with Aged White Cheddar Polenta, Escarole, Bacon and Sherry Brussels Sprouts with Garlic Gremolata and Pecorino
Disney089.jpg

This was my choice. I was on a mission to find pork belly! I had it for the first time in Vegas 2 years ago at Puck's restaurant in MGM. It was amazing! So, when pouring over menus before making ADR's, there were 4 restaurants that had it that I made ADR's for. This was the only retaurant that still had it on the menu by the time our trip came around
Unfortunately, I didn't care for this. The pork belly was kind of dry and not much flavor. The pork tenderloin would have been good had it not been for the sauce that was all over it that I really did not like. It ruined the polenta for me too. The brussel sprouts with bacon was really good though. I gave most of my meal to DH.

Braised Veal Shank Carrot-Potato Mash, Roasted Vegetables, and Toasted Citrus Gremolata
Disney090.jpg

This was DH's choice. He was very happy with it. I had a little taste. The Veal was very tender and had a really nice sauce...unlike my pork

So far, my son was the winner here. He had a great app and entree. I was skunked twice :guilty:, and DH liked his entree, but not crazy about his app.

Tropical Fruit Creme Brulee with Mango and Assorted Berries
Disney101.jpg

My son ordered this..basically for me since he really only cares about ice cream. None of us liked this one too much. It was very heavy on the mango flavor and you really couldn't taste much else. It was very pretty though ;)

Warm Chocolate-Banana Torte
Disney097.jpg

This was my choice even though I'm not a huge fan of molten cake type things. I do love banana though, and it looks really cool, so I went with it :lmao:It was very impressive looking, and pretty good considering, as I already said, not usually a lover of molten cake. I let my son have the ice cream since he was kind enough to order a dessert for me to try.

Tiramisu
Disney100.jpg

DH is a big tiramisu fan, so had to get this of course. I only took a tiny taste since DH hates bananas and I couldn't offer him any of my dessert. Can you believe that? He hates peanut butter too! I love peanut butter  Anywayyyy....we liked the tiramisu! :lmao:

So, to wrap it up, we had some winners, and we had some losers here. Narcoossees, and California Grill were still at the top of our list. I would come here again though, and wouldn't discourage anyone else from eating here. It was a very nice restaurant, and we did have some very good dishes....well, they did. :rotfl:

We spent Thanksgiving day at Animal Kingdom. Originally, we were supposed to have a pre park opening breakfast at Tusker House, but cancelled it when they changed the park opening to 8AM instead of 9. I was bummed about missing TH, but we would have been way too full for lunch at Y&Y and dinner at Jiko.

Thai Chili Chicken Wings - fried chicken wings tossed in a sweet Thai chili sauce, spicy Asian pickled cucumbers
DisneyFood2061.jpg

These were so good!! Nice and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I hate a rubbery chicken wing. The sauce was very tasty. Sweet, but not overly sweet. The chopped green onion on top was a nice addition to the flavor.

Wok-Fried Green Beans - battered green beans, sweet Thai chili dipping sauce
DisneyFood2062.jpg

These were really good too. Nice and crispy with a really yummy dipping sauce.

Pork Pot Stickers - pan seared or steamed, soy lime dipping sauce
DisneyFood2064.jpg

Again, another winner!! We enjoyed these and the wings much better than the ones we had at 'Ohana. We polished off all 3 apps and thoroughly enjoyed them all. I was happy at this point that we cancelled Tusker House breakfast or we wouldn't have had the appetite for all of this!

Baby Back Ribs - slow-roasted ribs, hoisin BBQ sauce, chicken fried rice, sweet chili slaw
DisneyFood2065.jpg

DisneyFood2066.jpg

This was my choice. I picked this based on the good reviews I read on here. The ribs were really good. Extremely tender and not at all dry. The fried rice was ok, nothing extraordinary, the slaw was very good. Still crisp, nice flavor.

Sweet and Sour Chicken - Tempura chicken, ginger, garlic, bell peppers, pineapple
DisneyFood2069.jpg

This was DH's choice. I was surprised he chose this. I was expecting him to choose something more adventurous.
He enjoyed it, but don't think it was a must try again.

Kobe Beef Burger - 10 oz grilled American Kobe beef burger, sesame-soy sauce, mayonnaise, crispy shoestring fries. topped with choice of shiitake mushroom & scallion compote or Asian slaw
DisneyFood2068.jpg

This was my son's choice. He got it with the shiitake mushroom & scallion compote. This burger was fantastic!! :worship: I was into his burger more than my ribs. It was cooked perfectly, juicy, and that compote gave it so much flavor. I kept taking bites of it. The fries came with a seasoned mayo dipping sauce.

Fried Wontons - Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey vanilla drizzle
DisneyFood2074.jpg

I knew all along that this is what I was going to order. I've read so many great reviews for this and couldn't wait to try it. I was so full, but I managed to eat all the wontons anyway :lmao: I loved it! They stayed nice and crispy, and didnt taste greasy. The fruit helped cut into the heaviness of the dessert. A definite winner.

Mango Pie - shortbread cookie crust, fresh whipped cream, raspberry sauce
DisneyFood2071.jpg

This is what was "placed" in front of my son, but really, it was for me and DH to eat.:rotfl2:Like I mentioned before, my son isnt big on anything but ice cream for dessert, so he ate the vanilla ice cream that came with my wontons. This was also really good. It was light and refreshing. We both really enjoyed it.

Chocolate Cake - Chocolate pudding cake, raspberry sauce
DisneyFood2076.jpg

This was DH's choice. I had a few bites too. It was really good also. It was very fudgy and dense. I wouldn't be able to eat a whole piece of this myself. It was chocolate overload. The raspberry sauce that came with it was a nice addition to cut into all that chocolate. Not that chocolate is a bad thing of course!!

We all very much enjoyed everything we ordered. I would definitely eat here again.

this was the wrong thread to read while i am currently starving and staring at a can of soup and apple....

humpf

Citricos and Yak and Yeti are two restaurants that's I've always been on the fence about. Some people's reviews look so good and then others look meh. Your pork belly dish looks great; I'm sorry it was disappointing :/. I love ribs, so those alone may have sold me for Yak and Yeti! Lol! :D

We really did enjoy Yak & Yeti. I was surprised just how much. Yeah, I was bummed about the pork dish, but I can't knock the restaurant because my son and husband had good meals. The pork dish at California Grill is outstanding!

I haven't had much time on the computer lately so I was so happy to be able to have some time to catch up on dining reviews! I was able to read your review from the start and I'm loving it!! They Grey Stuff looks delicious - but I believe you so I won't ask the dishes!:rotfl2: Sorry to hear that your 'Ohana dinner wasn't so great. The first time I ate there with my sister I absolutely loved it but the second time was closer to your experience, just meh.

I can't wait to read your Jiko review. I'm doing the Princess half marathon on Feb and I made a solo ADR for Jiko because I've read such great reviews lately. I hope yours was great too!

I'm so glad you are enjoying my reviews! I will try to get Jiko up today. The pics from the rest of our meals were taken with my cell phone because I dropped and broke my camera after lunch at Yak & Yeti while waiting to get in It's Tough To Be a Bug :sad2: Surprisingly, the cell phone pics look better than a lot of my camera pics! The only problem was that my battery kept draining before dinner and I had to run around looking for outlets to charge my phone which is really hard to do! Unfortunately, I couldnt get any pics at Biergarten for that reason :(

Great reviews! Yak and Yeti is on my must try list. After reading all these Ohana reviews about speeding I am worried. We loved it the first time but that was years ago. Maybe we should try something new I hate to feel like we wasted a credit lol

I understand how you feel. It was my first time there, so I have no other experience to compare it to. If you really loved it there, then stick with it and just start out the meal telling your waiter that you don't want to be rushed through your meal and would like time to enjoy each course before the next comes out. Have you ever tried Kona Cafe? We ate there on our last day and thought the food was much better than 'Ohana. The potstickers were delicious!!
