11 Days of Deluxe Dining,BOG and LOTS of SIGS! Completed

I see you have California Grill. It was my favorite meal of the trip, with Narcoossees a close second. I highy recommend the filet and the pork tenderloin. Liberty Tree Tavern is also a favorite. I love the pot roast and the ooey gooey tofee cake. O'hana was not a favorite of mine. I described it in another thread as like speed dating, only with food. I much preferred Kona Cafe

Thanks! I'm staying subscribed, and can't wait to see the rest of the reviews!

I felt disgusting my whole trip. I am used to eating low carb, so this really did a number on me. I came back 17 pounds heavier! A lot of it was water retention. I peed out 10 already. I know...way too much information!! :lmao:

My original plan was to eat at Be Our Guest on 11/16 after my husband arrived from the airport. By the time we got over to the restaurant (2-2:30) they were no longer letting people in.

We had eaten an 8AM breakfast at Crystal Palace. We were passing by the bridge of BOG around 10:30 and people were starting to line up. I wasn't actually hungry of course, but damnit, I got in line with DH!!! :lmao: We had the credits to use up anyway. I called my son who was off exploring on his own and told him to meet us over there in a little while.

We get in before my son arrived, so I had to send DH outside to go get him once he got there. I was so excited to be in there!! It was a little chaotic in there. You could feel the excitement. I didnt snap any pics of the menus, but I'm sure you have all seen them. It's kind of a pain in the butt that the screen keeps changing. I don't know if it will eventually be that you order on your own, but there were CM's to do the ordering for everyone. We placed our order, which took a bit of time, even with the CM doing it and quickly decided where to sit so we could put our rose on the table. I let my son choose, and he picked the West Wing. I thought I was going to like the Ballroom more, but it was so bright in there and open that it didn't thrill me. I have to say here, that we ate in the Ballroom at dinner and it has a whole different feel at night with the lights turned down low...especially when we were seated right in front of the window with the falling snow :cheer2: The West Wing was really cool and definitely my favorite room for a lunch.
I put the rose down and quickly went exploring in the other rooms. I wasn't gone very long, but the food was already at the table when I got back.

Croque Monsieur
Grilled Sandwich of Carved Ham, Gruyere Cheese,
and Béchamel with Pommes Frites
Disney163.jpg

This is what my son ordered. Actually, I should say that this is what was placed in front of him. I pretty much had my fork or face in everyones plate. :lmao:I thought it was really delicious and so did my son. I actually likes this better than the one I got at Le Chefs later in the week.

Vegetable Quiche
Mushroom, Zucchini, Bell Pepper, Onion, and Chive Quiche
served with Baby Lettuce coated with Champagne Vinaigrette
Disney161.jpg

I ordered this because I figured it would be something a little lighter since I wasn't very hungry. Although, when you think about it, there's nothing light about eggs, cream, and cheese. Ok, it just goes down easier! :)
The salad was nice and refreshing. I thought the quiche was ok. I wouldn't feel the need to have it again after trying it the first time. There was nothing bad about it. Just nothing spectacular.

Braised Pork (Coq Au Vin Style)
Eight Hour Slow-cooked Pork with Mushrooms, Onions,
Carrots, and Bacon served with Mashed Potatoes
and Green Beans Jardinière
Disney162.jpg

DH ordered this. I have to say, epecially for a counter service lunch, I was very impressed. The meat was so tender and delicious. I would definitely get this again.

Passion Fruit Cream Puff

with Whipped Cream

Triple Chocolate Cupcake
Chocolate Sponge Cake, Chocolate Mousse Filling,
and Chocolate Ganache

Strawberry Cream Cheese Cupcake
Vanilla Sponge Cake, Strawberry Mousse Filling,
and Cream Cheese Icing
Disney169.jpg

Disney167.jpg

I tried all 3 (of course!) and I liked the Strawberry Cream Cheese cupcake the best. It was moist and the cake wasn't too dense and heavy. I really liked those crispy little balls on top too. I didnt find any of the desserts outstanding though. I had "the Grey Stuff" at dinner and really liked that!

None of us finished our meals, due to lack of stomach space, but we all really enjoyed the experiece and would definitely go back.

I was very excited to finally try 'Ohana after reading so much about it here, and I guess also because the reservations are so hard to get! I built it up a lot to DH and my son.
Disney190.jpg

Things started out well. As you can see, I dug into the bread before I remembered to take a pic! :lmao:
Disney191.jpg

I've never been here before, so I don't know if the bread was supposed to be warm or not, but it wasn't and I wish it was. It was good, I just think it would have tasted even better warm.

Next came the salad which I enjoyed very much. I really liked the salad dressing. I wish I had been able to eat more of it before the speed meal started :crazy2:
Disney192.jpg

Very shortly after the salad arrived, the dumplings and wings arrived.
Disney194.jpg

The dumplings were just ok, and the wings were already cold and rubbery :sad2:

Less than 2 minutes later, the noodles and broccoli were brought out and they took away the salad bowl I never had a chance to get more onto my plate from. Yes, I should have said something. I was kind of dumbfounded by the speed at which everything was being brought out. It was like speed dating..only with food.
Disney193.jpg

Disney195.jpg

The broccoli was a little too crunchy for my taste. The noodles were very tasty, but again, a little on the not hot side. Again, less than 2 minutes later, the drive by "meating" started and everything was getting piled on my plate on top of what was left of my poor salad. :headache:

At this point, I was kind of cranky and forgot to take pics. I should say, my son and DH had no problem with this. They enjoyed having food piled up in front of them. I didnt eat much of the meat. I found it kind of dry. Again, DH and son enjoyed it. I did think the sauces were all very good. I let them take away my piled high plate and asked them to bring me some noodles. Funny thing is, it took a long time for them to bring them!! :rolleyes1 They were hot though, so I was happy for that.

Disney196.jpg

I think I built this up too much. The bread pudding was good, just not as good as I thought it would be. I enjoyed the blueberry croissant bread pudding at Sunshine Seasons more.

So, sorry to say, I think this was my least favorite meal of the trip. I don't want to discourage anyone from going, but I did not have a good experience. If you do go, I would consider telling them right away, that you arent in a hurry and would like time to enjoy each course before the next is brought to you. Unless of course..you are in a hurry

OMG, that is so funny! i am a carb and salt junkie....desserts not so much, but give me a plate of nachos or pasta and i do the happy dance....

Oh, believe me, I am not low carb because I like it that way! I would choose a big, hot crusty loaf of bread with butter, pasta and a dessert over a steak most days! Its just easier for me to keep my weight down that way

We went to Via Napoli for lunch. This was not our first time there. I ate there twice with my son last summer. It is one of his favorites. I very much enjoy it also. This was DH's first time.

Disney19th007.jpg

Disney19th006.jpg

Disney19th008.jpg

Bread and extra virgin olive oil was brought to the table. I forgot to take a pic :confused3

For appetizers, we ordered:
Eggplant Caponata

eggplant salad with olives, capers,
pinoli nut, tomato & raisins
Disney19th009.jpg

This was delicious!! Bursting with flavor...I would definitely order this again.

Fritto Misto
an assortment of just-fried seasonal vegetables, calamari & cheese. serves 2 people

arancini, mozzarella, calamari, melanzane, asparagi, zucchine, artichoke, mushrooms, pomodoro piccante sauce
Disney19th010.jpg

We also loved this :yay: The rice balls we've had here before and always enjoy. I'm not a fan of Calamari, but DH said they were cooked perfectly. They were crisp on the outside and not rubbery inside. I LOVED the fried vegetables! They were battered lightly, very crisp, and not greasy. There were battered portobello, zucchini, eggplant, aparagus, and artichoke. There was also fried mozzarella. The best fried mozzarella I ever had. These were not your standard fried sticks. This was chunks of fresh mozarella. Very soft and creamy on the inside, not waxy.

Lasagna Verde

spinach, parmesan, besciamella

Disney19th011.jpg

This was my dish. I was considering pizza, but went with this even though I've had it before. Delicious as always. Creamy, cheesy and all around yummy.
Candele

candle-stick pasta, sausage ragù,
polpettine meatballs, mozzarella, ricotta

Disney19th015.jpg

This is what my son ordered. I've read people raving about this on the boards but it never sounded that appealing to me and I was afraid to order it and be disappointed. I couldn't keep my fork out of this!! I would definitely order this myself next time.

Pollo Parmigiana
traditional preparation with tomato sauce, parmesan & mozzarella, served with roasted potatoes
Disney19th012.jpg

This was DH's choice. He liked it, but wasn't in love with it. I know he wished he got the pizza was was eyeing at all the other tables.

Now, for dessert, I am embarrassed to show these pics because I totally forgot to take them, BEFORE everyone dug in, so keep in mind they looked a lot better, and bigger when first served! :rotfl2:

Tiramisu
Disney19th017.jpg

Gelato Frizzante - Ice cream soda Italian style, made with San Pellegrino Aranciata and Vanilla Ice Cream
Disney19th018.jpg

Coppa Di Brutti Ma Buoni - Ugly, but good. Amarena cherry and vanilla gelato sundae with ugly, but good cookies of carnevale
Disney19th022.jpg

As you can see we were really enjoying them! Via Napoli is still a favorite and I wouldn't hesitate to go back again and again.

Same here! In a dream world, I could live on pasta and chocolate. :D

This is the first BOG lunch review I've seen. The Croque Monsieur looks yummo!

I can't they rushed you at Ohana. Maybe they were really crowded and needed to move people through but that's still rude. What's the point of eating someplace if you can't even enjoy the food. :(

Via Napoli looks good as always. I love their ovens! The volcano names are a nice touch :)

There is a thread in the restaurant forum about 'ohana speeding. Apparently, lots of people have been experiencing it. Maybe its like this at busier times of the year

Loving your review! I had to break out a notepad and jot some things down for our trip next year!

I hope it helps. Have you decided what restaurants you want to make ADR's for? We have been back exactly a week, and my son already wants to know when we are going back!

It was finally here. The payoff for 3 hours of busy signals the day they started taking ADR's for Be Our Guest. This was the first night you could make ADR's for. When I finally got through, it looked like they were already booked for the night, but while I was still on the phone, a 4:45 popped up. Not really my ideal time for eating dinner, especially when we had Via Napoli scheduled for lunch, but I wasn't going to pass it up!

I was so excited. I had lunch here the day before, but it was still so exciting to know they were expecting you and there were no lines to get in. We checked in and were given a beeper, but it went off within minutes. The door was opened for us and we were greeted many times and really felt like special guests. The Ballroom has a totally different feel at dinner. The lights are turned down very low and there are candles on all the tables. I was overjoyed to be seated right in front of the back windows. I couldn't stop staring at the snow, and taking video of everything to pay attention to the menu. I pretty much had the menu memorized anyway and didn't need to look at it.

We all ordered the Fruit Punch with Wildberry Extract topped with
Lemon-Lime Foam. Well, DH ordered a few beers also. I don't know why, maybe the excitement, but we all got them in the souvenir cups which added about 70 bucks to the bill. I know I wanted a cup, but why we got 3...!!!! I certainly wasn't expecting DH to say he wanted his in a light up cup too. Unfortunately, he was also the one to pack them for the trip home and 2 of the 3 broke.

Potato Leek Soup
Disney19th058.jpg

My son and I both got this. He polished his off in no time, and I let him finish mine off also. Not because I didn't like it, but I knew getting throught the meal on a less than empty stomach would be a challenge and he does love soup! We both enjoyed the soup very much. Nice flavor. Not too thick, not too thin.

Assorted Cured Meats and Sausages
served with Cornichons, Pickled Onions, and Toasted Baguette

Disney19th059.jpg

This was DH's choice. I can't tell you exactly what most of it was, but we enjoyed it and it ate it all. I really loved the pickled onions and kept spreading it on my bread.

Thyme-scented Pork Rack Chop

with Au Gratin Macaroni, Seasonal Vegetables, and Red Wine Jus
Disney19th071.jpg

This was my choice. The red wine jus was in that little white pitcher. The pork was cooked nicely and the veggies seasoned well. I also really liked the au gratin macaroni.

Pan-seared Salmon on Leek Fondue

served with Creamy Saffron-crushed Potatoes
Disney19th073.jpg

This was DH's choice. I'm not a salmon fan, but I kept digging into his leek fondue and potatoes which were yummy. He said the salmon was really good and cleaned his plate.

Rotisserie Cornish Hen

with Roasted Fingerling Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables
Disney19th072.jpg

This is what my son ordered. He was out of fork distance, but he did pass me a taste a long as I promised to keep passing over my macaroni :lmao: The meat was nice and moist. He enjoyed it, but was not able to finish it. DH was the only one to finish his meal. A few times during dinner, they introduced "our host", and Beast walked across the Ballroom.

Lemon Meringue Cupcake

Vanilla Sponge Cake, Lemon Custard Filling, and Flamed Meringue Icing
Disney19th076.jpg

Chocolate Cream Puff

filled with Chocolate Mousse topped with Whipped Cream
Disney19th077.jpg

AND.......

THE GREY STUFF!!!
Disney19th079.jpg

I can't quite describe the flavor of the grey stuff. It was chocolate, but I also detected a kind of fruity flavor. Whatever it was, I wish there was more of it, because it was yummy!!

After dinner, we had our picture taken with Beast. We really had a great experience. The food was very good, the service and atmosphere are excellent.
Disney19th081.jpg

After dinner, DH and I ran over to catch the castle lighting, and my son went off exploring on his own. We met up at the dessert party.

Disney19th091.jpg

Our table was right by the railing. The view was spectacular!
Disney19th089.jpg

Disney19th085.jpg

The temperature had dropped quite a bit and it was rather chilly and breezy. It wasn't the ideal night for it, but I was still excited. DH was still stuffed from dinner and ate very little which kind of annoyed me, but I managed to suck down a decent amount :rotfl2:
Disney19th096.jpg

The little cups at the back of the plate was a pumpkin mousse. This was my favorite of the desserts.

Disney19th093.jpg

Disney19th092.jpg

Disney19th094.jpg

My son stuck mostly with ice cream and cookies and complained a lot that he was cold! Luckily, we all forgot about being cold when the fireworks started. We watched from the railing even though our table was so close. I was afraid we would have a bunch of people standing in front of us when it started. The view is amazing. Especially seeing Tinkerbell flying by.

The desserts weren't spectacular, but you can't beat the view. I am glad we experienced it, and I would probably do it again.
