So last night, we go to dinner at the Marina Bar in Portage Lakes (outside deck known as "The Key West of Akron", which in itself is an oxymoron). ANYHOO ... we left early because we were starved, got there around 5:20. Got called for dinner at 5:45. We saw a friend there who bought us a round of drinks (btw, probably the strongest mojitos I've ever had ... or merely the results of drinking on an empty stomach). We order dinner by 6pm. We wait. We wait. We wait. Around 7 the waitress starts apologizing. By 7:15 she offers to comp our appetizers and iced teas. By 7:30 she says, "You know what? I'm comping your entire meal." By 7:45 we got dinner (mind you, just a burger and a chicken sandwich).

So there you have it ... 2 free cocktails, 2 free iced teas, 1 dozen free wings, and 2 free dinners. Not too shabby!

Oh ... and drunken BFF texts ...

That's right. We're off the ship. AND we are boo-hooing. However, the pain has been mitigated by the fact that we checked into one of the most spectacular hotels we've ever stayed at. Really had no idea it was THIS nice as we got a decent deal on the room and room credit too!

We're at the St. Regis Monarch Beach in Dana Point, California. We just got done unpacking and are heading to the pool.

Cruise was really great but we REALLY did find ourselves missing the bananaheads big time. While we aren't necessarily the most social folks when it comes to going out at night and hanging at the adult pool due to the kids' schedules, we really missed having dinner with friends and seeing folks we knew all over the ship.

I'll post a trip report of sorts and photos at some point..hopefully after we get home on Friday. More of a things we loved and things that were different and things we didn't love so much. One hint - WAAAAAAAAAAY too many pre-teens running amock. THis is our fourth cruise and I had never seen anything even approaching what we saw this time.

The really good news is that Emily LOVED the club this time - last year she was not yet ready to make friends and stay there for long periods of time. She can't wait to see some of the counselors in Nov. so we hope to have some additional adult time to be more social.

We're all exhausted though - up way too late last night and then up at the crack of dawn to get ready for disembarkation.
