Hey Shell,
I had a mojito this weekend in a salute to you at the french quarter fest

I just had a mojito Sunday!!:thumbsup2 Bill bought a mix. . .not as good as the real thing, but not too bad!

He also heard about a good mojito recipe that they use at some restaurant in the Chicago area -- they sell 1000's each week!!! Sounds like my kind of place!:woohoo: :woohoo:

How many drinks am I down now Shell-first it was the cat-$450+ a few weeks ago-then the fridge-now the van window--BOO HOO HOO :rotfl2:

Cheri-:grouphug: -sorry about your uncle.

Okie, you poor, poor woman -- a dry cruise for you.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hope your kitty gets well soon!

Also, thanks for the well-wishes.

Cheri

Tonya,
I feel your pain GF,I cannot believe we are not going. I am just be Cleopatra and the Queen of Denial on that.Maybe Woo could add our pictures to the list sort of in memory of:rotfl2:

Hi, everyone!

Does everyone know where they are staying the night before the cruise? Should I be concerned about booking a room in the near future? This is our first cruise so I can use any tips and advice! I think I have the hotel narrowed down to a few choices but I would like to know what everyone else recommends before I make a reservation.

Howdy, although we live close enough to drive we will be getting a hotel the night before, just makes for an easier morning on saturday.
We are staying at The Radisson. It is an older hotel but clean and has a great pool area. It took us 4 minutes to drive from the hotel to the port.
They also offer a shuttle to the port for those who need it.

There are a few others that are nice too.
The newest is The Country Inn and Suites, Ron Jons, The Residence Inn.
All are nice and close to the port. Ron Jon's is the farthest away, the others are almost side by side.
I would make a reservation within the next 2 months so you can have the choice of places. People do book out a few months because Friday gets filled up at most of those hotels because 3 ships are in port saturday. That is a lot of people to need rooms over night.

We are nice and sunny this morning, suppose to be 80 again today.
I have some errands to run today, so I will be out enjoying the nice weather for part of the morning.
Going to fix Tacos for dinner tonight.
Last night I made home made waffles with blueberry compote and whipped cream. YUMMY!!!

It's over the hump day everyone, have a good day!!:dance3:
We will make our reservations the first part of June.

Good morning Banana Heads

SHARON: Great to see you! How much did Jason get from the tooth fairy? Back in "the day" it was a quarter. Now I'm hearing as much as $10!

WENDY and TONYA: Let's think about this, shall we? Both of you want to go, both of your husbands are being buttheads. Following me?
  • One cabin for a 7-night eastern DCL ... $2700 (split in half)
  • Cocktails for 2 (without GUYS being there and being lushes) ... $700 (split in half)
  • Spending time with the WOO, Teri/Cheri/Mary and the rest of the Banana Heads ... PRICELESS

Brandie-Wow...thought your fridge would be fixed by now-yours when bad before mine!! :sad2:

Isn't this INSANE??? The good part is we're supposed to be getting a new fridge (only a step down from the one we have) out of this whole fiasco.

Excellent Job, Brandie ... and now we finally see a picture of Jeremy so we know that he's real and not an imaginary husband! :lmao:

:rotfl: I know! But someone's gotta watch the munchkin while I DIS!

Brandie, that is a great sign:thumbsup2
I actually went off and forgot my sign when we got off the ship:sad2:
So remember to pack yours when the cruise is over.:thumbsup2

have a Magical time!!!

Thank you! I'll try and remember!

Brandie - great sign!

Have a good week everyone. Dawn

Thank you! You, too!

Brandie, that's so cool! Great job! I love how Mickey is swirly. Have a great cruise!

Thank you! I appropriated from KristineN, here on DIS. She has some Disney designs she has offered for others to use. I got Stitch from "The Disney Experience" website. The pics are from our first trip to WDW last October.

Bright sunshine here in Denver. 60-something degrees. Kiddo went off to school in Nemo swim trunks, but I made Daddy take a pair of jeans, just in case. She was pretty garish, with her long sleeve red shirt and Nemo-patterns on her boy shorts. Right now she's into all things "Nemo." Pretty funny for a kid who, since birth, has been a little fashionista. All things had to match or she spit up on them or took them off. Seriously. Thankfully, she seems to be emerging from her "pink" period. I was pretty scared. ;)

Yeah, well, that's it from this side of the Mississippi. Have a great day!

Brandie

Ok I have to pout and vent
My sister turns 40 next month and her husband surprised her with a trip on the transatlantic crossing leaving May 12th, ummmm its not fair I wanna go, she doesn.t even like Disney as much as me....Woo, I need a hug, my husband won't let me go on vacation with you in November but my BIL(the suckup ) is taking her wahhhhhh

Woo do you really think my son would let me come by myself. GOD NO. He can hardly keep from flippin out about the one in July. Trey and I talked about it again last night. Who knows what will happen. Either way I want a t-shirt so that next year I don't look out of place when you all wear yours.

TTYL.

Uh, Tonya? Hunter doesn't really need to know where Mommy is ALL the time, does he?? :rolleyes1

Yes, unfortunately. I went to Home Depot sunday morning and I had about 5 calls from the house. "Mom, I'm hungry"; "Mom, Trey isn't up to cook"; "Mom, Can I wake Morgan up?"; "Mom, when are you and Aunt Marka gonna be back", etc. I finally just gave up and came home. It's not like there wasn't milk in the fridge and cereal in the cabinet. Just NO mommy to fix it. But I love him anyway. Makes me feel like Im needed. he he

Boy we have lots of posting today, that's great.
Just wish it was happier post where Wendy and Tonya say they are coming along too.

It is warm here today but clouds are coming in so not so sunny.

My crazy dog!!! I had the power cord for my laptop unplugged from my laptop and laying beside me for a minute and she put her wet nose on it and got a shock:sad2:
Then she got curious and did it again, (you'd think she would of learned) the 3rd time I grabbed the power cord and plugged it in and she gave me a funny look and wanted to attack my computer:rotfl2:
When i stopped her she jumped up on the other end of the couch, gave a big stretch with her rear up in the air facing me, then laid down and ignored me.
Some how I feel like i have been told off:confused3

:rotfl:

My doggie is curled up in the sun... You'd think she has her summer coat on. But no, she's soaking up the warmth in her double coat as if she was a reptile! :confused3

*wave* Talk to you later!

Brandie

We started out so good today and now nothing:confused3

Lets get some chatter here:hyper2:

Guess I will have to bring my whip on this cruise to show I mean business::cop:

Bill, you havnt posted in days?? Come on, we need to see a big hello from you now and then too.:dance3:
We need some monkeys around here:banana:
we have bananas everywhere, maybe that will tempt the monkeys to come:rolleyes1

Shell: The tooth fairy gave $1. I've heard the rate can be as high as $10 but I didn't want to start that nonsense. As an only child he already gets more than his fair share of things! He was thrilled with the dollar.

Kathy: Thanks for the info on the hotels. Right now I am leaning towards the Radisson too so I'm glad to hear you like it. I saw my sister's sister-in-law this past weekend and she couldn't believe that we hadn't already booked our hotel. I panicked so thanks for reassuring me that I still have time to take care of it.

We've been busy the past few months playing "room swap". We moved Jason's bedroom upstairs so he now has his own bathroom and a "big boy" bedroom. I'll have to take some pictures of his new rooms and post them here. I am going to move my office into his old bedroom and it's going to be Disney themed (of course). I hoped to have my room finished by now but work and taxes seemed to get in the way the past few weeks. I hope to get started on the room very soon and I'll definitely post pictures of that room once I get it complete.

It's good to be back!
Sharon

Laika1.jpg

Isn't this the most beautiful dog? Her name's Laika. I can't figue out her breed, but she was the first terrestrial organism to enter Earth orbit. She died seven hours after launch in Sputnik II, due to stress and extreme heat. The temperature was 104 degrees when she died. If someone can find me the breed of this dog, I'd be eternally grateful.

Not sure if this link will post, but it's a question and answer sheet that tells what kind of dog she was. Not sure how accurate it is, but it's a start! :) http://www.nasaexplores.com/show_58_teacher_st.php?id=02123183834

Here's some info from Wikipedia which sounds more accurate:

The dog that would later be named Laika was found as a stray wandering the streets of Moscow. She was a mongrel female, approximately three years old, and weighed about 6 kg (13 lb). Soviet personnel gave her several names and nicknames, among them Kudryavka (Russian for Little Curly), Zhuchka (Little Bug) and Limonchik (Little Lemon). Laika, the Russian name for several breeds of dogs similar to the husky, was the name popularized around the world. The American press dubbed her Muttnik (mutt + suffix -nik) as a pun on Sputnik,[6] or referred to her as Curly.[7] Her true pedigree is unknown, although it is generally accepted that she was part husky or other Nordic breed, and possibly part terrier.[8]
