Don't know what to say, Judy...I have a hard time with family too, whether it be a mom who ought to be a travel agent for the number of guilt trips she sends me on or leaving a 16 year old furry child that I know wont be happy for the days we're away. You have to make peace with yourself on those fronts. Speaking for myself, I spend the entire year thinking of others and I'm sure you do as well. ONE week out of 52 for yourself, your peace of mind and a little enjoyment? Seems fair to me.... (I know I'm not Tony Little but how'd I do?).

Gonna go get some coffee and read the paper too. I had to turn the furnace on this morning it was so chilly downstairs....yikes. I really need to get up, throw on some shorts, go to deck 10, make a complete round to look for islands, dolphins, or whatevers out there, get coffee at deck 9 and meander back to the room.

Good morning all..............Well, I know Fall is approaching as I have just opened the house up for the first time since May:yay:

Today starts our new year for Sunday School. I moved up to First Grade because I couldn't stand to leave "my kids". They're probably going to be like "oh great, her again":rotfl2:

Judy-I don't have teenagers but I was one once. Until I was a mother myself, I didn't even like to go to the gas station by myself so I can relate somewhat to how your DD feels. However, because of this characteristic I also missed out on countless opportunities that I regret now. No one could have convinced me of that at the time though. I would have rather died than had to go somewhere where I didn't know anyone. Now look at me..............You can't shut me up:rotfl:

So, you have to let her make the decision. I fear that if she stays home, she'll regret it one day but you have to let her be who she is now. If she's miserable all week, you'll be miserable all week. If she stays home, Well.........you can always meet us on Deck 9 for a Full Frontal Nanaty:thumbsup2

Have a great day everyone, see you when I return from church

Are we sure we were not related in a former life?????
You nanaheads ae my "soulmate" family.... can't tell you how valued you are... guess I'll tell you on Deck 9 pixiedust:

Anyway we were at the mall earlier and we saw the Piratespirate: Crocs for the kids. It was tempting... but at $30 a pop... ah... no. Both boys feet are growing way too fast for that!! But they're really cool!

Would that be Mall of the Bluffs?? Or Westroads, Crossroads, Oakview?? I'm sure there about 20 new malls in the Omaha metro area now!

When I was in college, Oakview was just opening. . .now you can figure out how OLD I am!!!!

DD has some pick Mickey crocs -- luckily her feet aren't growing as fast so she should be able to wear them on the cruise. The boys will need pool shoes, so you better get them. . .:rolleyes1

You took the words right out of my mouth!! (and saved me a lot of time typing!!):thumbsup2

Judy, Kim is absolutely right! For our cruise last year, we originally booked my step-son Cal (who is also 16 now. . .) without telling him. We didn't want it to affect whether he decided to try out for the basketball team or not.

Anyway, as time grew nearer, we told him about the cruise to gauge his reaction. He wasn't absolutely thrilled (though our Wonder cruise was billed by him as one the best vacations ever), so Bill & I decided we didn't want to spend all that money if he wasn't going to enjoy himself. We canceled the ressie and got our money back. Unfortunately we wasted the plane ticket.

Hmmmmmm -- sounds like these two teens could get along like peas and carrots! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Too bad the price for us to add Cal was OUTRAGEOUS last time I checked.:sad1:

I hope she decides to give it a go! I'm sure she'll have a great time once she gets there. . .

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Our a/c was run-ning when we got up!

I refuse to accept the fact that fall is on its way! I just pretend not to notice that some leaves are already turning, crops are starting to turn yellow, etc., etc.

P.S. Hope Guido is doing well this morning.:flower3:

My Mom is stable although remains in a lot of pain. Don't know what we will do post hospital...she is getting to the point where I'm not sure she will ever be able to return home with her husband...he does the best he can but she is a handful and he lives every day on pins and needles...hoping she doesn't fall...which happens all too often..

Judy-my DD and your DD I think "sort of said-Hi" on my space. Chelsea said they just sort of said "how old are you?" Chelsea went on her first DCL cruise alone...well except for her brother who is now 17-well you know that already-joelidol-and all that...had a good time...but on her second cruise she had her cousin with her and did have a better time...so I too would love to hook my DD up with another teen :)

Hey I think we will hit the 6000 mark Chrisine set by Tuesdy   keep posting people....(Joshua is a work right now so I thought I had best help the boy out) :rotfl2:

Followed Kim's lead and opened all the windows up-put fans in the windows and turn the A/C off.

Hey Jeff-Joshua is thinking about applying to Pitt-do you happen to know anything about their engeenering program?....and 'NO' Bill I don't mean the choo choo kind :lmao:

Well, off to the hospital to see mom...

Hey Okie
Pitt's engineering program is absolutely top notch. I have a lot of friends and old fraternity brothers who were engineering majors of one kind or another and all of them got great jobs out of college and continue to succeed lo these many years later. I assume the job market is still good and Pitt has a long history of solid job placement at companies large and small. Ok commercial over. I don't get anything if he goes there so I should stop! (plus he'd have some DIS friends in the city if he ever gets lonely!) Be happy to talk to him about Pitt in general (not hte program since I was a lowly english major and my wife was biz and health admin) but I can give him all the lowdown on living in Oakland. :-)

Cheri - Just noticed that both you and I are approaching 1,000 posts. Not sure what that says about us...but I'm up for calling it a great accomplishment! :rotfl:

Afternoon all: Looks like everyone is having great weather. Off to my nephew's B-Day. Already talked to my brother and we get maragaritas as party gifts:thumbsup2

Cheri-I forgot to tell you congrats on your race. We had the big Rock and Roll Marathon here today. You and Bill and your families should put that on your calendar for next year. I won't run with you, but I'll have the drinks cool when you're finished.

Jeff-I have family in Pitt. Bethel Park I think the area is. Only been up once to that area. It was in April and we had a weather span of upper 70's to snow. It was Easter. Probably like '85 or somewhere therabouts.............

Anyhoo.........check back with ya'

Robin and I are doing a duo post...
Went shopping, decided they don't make big enough gut busters for us and went out to eat instead.
Found a fabulous dress for Rachel, Sarah and she are busy playing TImesplitters on the video machine....
Thanks for all of your thoughts, Robin has been saying this about Kayla for a week, she is smiling(rather smugly:) that you wise folks second and third her opinion.

Robin here: I, too, am an old English major! I remember being smart back in the day!

Hope Guido is recovering nicely...it's so hard when our pets aren't full throttle. Our black lab wannabe mutt dog had BOTH knees replaced. We could have gone on another cruise!!! I live with a compassionate DH, don't I???

Enjoy the holiday weekend...my Tennessee mother would have me remind you that we don't wear white shoes after Labor Day! God bless her, she raised me to be the governor's wife. I just wanted to be the Governor!:rotfl:

We walked down to the local deli/restaurant for breakfast this morning (a treat for me as I LOVE breakfast foods!). We chose to sit outside in the beautiful sunshine and lovely breeze and pretend that we were at Topsiders. Instead of seeing the street and a baseball field across the way, we pretended it was the wake from the ship. Off in the horizon we could see the islands we were passing by.

We are pathetic. :rolleyes1

AT least we made it to page 400.
Ugh, what a day I had. My feet are still sore from work. I hope your having fun Kathy. :goodvibes
Anyway, I actually got up this morning and was startled by the fact that I was freezing! When did that happen??? Now I'm sweating!
No colours yet, but it's beautiful to go to the Appilachans and see the trees change. :goodvibes

Dispite my mom's belief, I think we can reach 6000 by tonight. What do you say? Kathy'd be siked!

I'd like to thank the Academy for all they've done. And I can't forget you all, who helped us get this far.
10000 anyone?
