Depending on what beach you want, St. Maartin has a nice small beach area by the pier at the shopping area too. That is easy to do on your own. It is small but nice sandy beach, chairs and umbrellas for rent, cheap!! Drinks and restrooms available, food too. Just take the water taxi at the end of the pier, on the left. costs $5 for all day round trips to the shopping area.
when you get off the water taxi walk a few feet until you meet up with the sidwalk that runs along the beach. You can go right or left just 25 feet to a nice beach area and someone will approach you about chairs and such.

shopping is right behind you if one of you wants to zip out for a quick shopping event.

also the ride is only 5 or 6 minutes, so it is easy to go back to the ship for lunch and then back to the beach if you want. You have a great view of the ship from the beach. It is NOT crowded there either so nice for little kids to toddle around without getting run over by people . It is just a thought unless you have a specicific beach in mind. Theyhave several that are beautiful, this isnt spectacualr but it is nice, close and EASY to do with kids. Cheap too.

Our grandkids loved it!!!

Kathy

I've read about this beach before I think.

Maybe we could do the close-by beach for St. Maarten and then do a paid-for tour excursion for St. Thomas...

Which island has the trolley that goes up to the nice view? Is that St. Maarten? It sounds like you could just walk to that according to what someone else said.

I am leaning towards bringing our youngest DS(18 mos.) but DH now isn't so sure as his Mom has offered to watch him. But right now I'm going under the assumption he'll be along. I want to decide tho before booking day so I can book him some Flounders time in conjunction with a Palo res. for us.

What day do you recommend for Palo?

Hello all,

by trolley do you mean the tram up the side of the mountain at St. Thomas??It is a short walk from the pier. Just walk to the far endof the shops and cross the highway, it is right there. DD took it and loved it. Said the view was great and there are trails to walk and a bird show a couple times a day. Food and souvenirs are available too.

Honestly if I had young kids with me I would do the beach i talked about above at St. Maartin at the shopping area. It is so easy and quick to get to, very clean, not crowded so easy to keep an eye on the toddler. For me I would take an umbrella stroller so I could walk around some stores while baby is napping, if I wanted, plus it is a fairly long pier for a toddler to walk to the water taxi. I'm sure you'll have fun no matter wher you go.

We are still HOT here too. expect 105 with the humidity again today. I need to do some ironing, so it will seem hotter!!

Have any of you done the Screamin Eagle Power Boat excursion?? I think it is St. Thomas?? It is only an hour all together but looks like fun. I am considering it.

Shell, have a good trip. Leave Guido in charge and everything will be ok.
With age comes maturity, he will do fine. Bill, well thats another whole story:rotfl2:

Hope our shirts come today !!!!

Morning, all...WE GOT OUR SHIRTS YESTERDAY! Sarah slept in hers.

Yep, tourists drive us crazy, too. We try to head for the locals areas as parking is at a PREMIUM during the season.

Back at work today with a long afternoon session. I, of course, will be making lists for the cruise if it gets too boring.

TTFN:banana:

Good morning everyone:flower3:

Off to take Jacob to B-Ball Camp. Hope he leaves some of the field there today:sad2:

Bill-we're expecting hourly updates from you. You know, "hi, i'm here and not in jail", that sort of thing:thumbsup2

Shell is the one I'm worried about. I just love me some cowboys:rolleyes1

Jail isn't a concern anymore....since I found out that neither Woo or my friends would do bails...I steer clear of that stuff. That doesn't mean I can't get into trouble.

Yes.. that is what I was thinking of. Great, maybe we'll just do the beach in St. Maarten by the shopping area and the go up the trolley in St. Thomas and possible a beach there too later. That will give DH some photo opportunties up at the top. Is there shopping right near the pier in St. Thomas?

I really don't want to spend a ton on excursions with such little ones because it's kind of wasted $$ if they don't cooperate.

Yes, we will always have our small lightweight stroller for little one as he is a big boy. He weighs 27 lbs. and is far too much to carry!

By the way we got our tshirts Monday. I don't think Jackson (DS 14 mos.) will be wearing his if he comes as it is way too big. Maybe he can wear it if we rebook for 2008. (Hey...I can dream can't I.)

Leaving Orlando at sunset. I think that's RCCL's Mariner of the Seas.

Kathy, If LITTLE isn't being facetious! I think that all our pets are BIG babies and we wouldn't have it any other way!
Bill, Thanks for the navigator. It printed out great!
Ron, The pictures of both boats together is priceless. It would be awesome if you could figure out the horns. How lucky of you to have your camcorder with you at the moment!
I was so excited to get the shirts, I had to share. Will check in later.

Thanks....actually the ship were doing a "sound off" to each other for about a minute and a half and my digital camera DID record it....still trying to figure out how to make it a link and post it here....

Palo-
I guess I was thinking maybe do a non-port day, so I'm thinking either Sunday, Monday or Thursday. Now I just have to decide brunch or dinner. Are the kid's clubs/flounders available during both times? Because we would have to rely on these to watch the kids.

A lot of our group last year did Palo on Sunday last year. It worked out great for everyone. I definitely think a non-port day is the way to go with that.

Pic of the day.....hmmmm.....lessee....ah....just beyond our first rain.

If we don't tender at st. thomas there is a huge shopping area right along side the pier area. even a free trolley to take you to the other side of the bay for shopping if you want, but it is crowded on the other side, tons of traffic and uneven bad sidewalks.
The area next to the pier is the best.If we tender in you will be getting off at the not so good area but you cn grab the trolley to get you back to the other side by the pie if you want and the tram up the mountain.

Kathy, I think that Rachel said (Bill, you might remember this :thumbsup2 ) that the ship last tendered seven years ago.
Nice to hear form you again Sarah, did you get to go fishing? My uncle goes fishing a lot, but I dont have the luxury of going with him . Last time was two years ago. I caught a flounder.

Off to do Psychology stuff... :rolleyes1

I believe that 5 minutes of school work did me justice. Here's my pic of the day:

Kathy, I think I just want to follow you around. You sure know where you're going! I guess that's the same feeling I get around WDW!

Christine, I have the picture view of Atlantis too!

Not much going on. One more day and we're out of here!
