11/22/08 Thanksgiving 2008 cruise thread. Double Dipping Travelling Turkeys!

Everyone --- When do we want to do this thing? Please post the day and time you prefer. I will collect days and times and majority will rule.
I know we have discussed:
1. Saturday before sail-away party
2. Sunday(Castaway Cay)
3. Monday (Day at Sea)

Please indicate day and morning, afternoon or evening preference.

Let me know by Monday evening - 9/2. That should give everyone a little over 1 week to contact DCL and finalize ressies. Since they will all be posted on the thread we can all play along and you can count the totals with me.You can make sure I don't cheat.
After we have a time and day I will contact DCL and request a place and food - (whatever they will give us!)
I'll get us started with my preference: Monday - Afternoon

I'm not sure if I'd be able to make it on Saturday. If the weather is nice, I plan on being on Castaway Cay most (if not all) of the day Sunday.



Excursions: Is anyone planning on booking the Tulum Ruins tour? I think we will probably do that.

I have recorded your vote. You bring up a very good point.... I forgot about the onboard activities schedule. I was so tuned in to CC on Sun and not wanting to miss dolphin spotting on Sat I never considered what would be happening on board. Hmmmmmm.
Here's another stupid hurricaine question for ya... If you get a lot of rain do you get gators and snakes? (I know you're thinking "crazy northerner!") Snakes would freak me right out!!!

We don't see too many gators where we live. Our house is away from the water and fairly high and dry. If you go a few miles east or west, they are very common. We also have a lot of Manatees. They are very cool to see.

I can't possibly be the only one with crazy relatives. C'mon, y'all need to fess up. BTW, it's not the in-laws either. In-laws are coming with me on this trip. Now, that doesn't happen too often.

I typically have the whole gang (20+) at my house for dinner. Last year wasn't so pleasant. My thought process when I booked this was to truly escape. But it seems everyone is making amends so I started feeling a little guilty. Then, my dog was accidentally run over and that was a several thousand dollar vet bill (totally worth it!). If she had to have a 2nd surgery we wouldn't have been able to do this cruise. I was close to cancelling but DH said for me to stick out before making a drastic move. It's tight, but doable. The in-laws had high hopes for this cruise. This is SIL's first cruise and my MIL LOVED our 3 nighter on the Wonder.

I got my Palo and spa booking. Nothing else matters. Maybe a galley tour or yet another wine tasting. They are always fun. Does anyone else plan to do one of those? My MIL would do the wine tasting again in a heartbeat. We also got tea booked though we don't know if we're going to hang onto it.

I don't know if I can do the grand gatherings or not. I'm not opposed to a quick hello or grabbing a drink. Hey, who's going to karoke night? Raise your hand! *raising hand - me, me, me!* Not to sing, but to watch silly goose!

Yes once on the ship it's VACA time !! I, too, vote for this time.

Remember everyone who gets to the terminal early, we will be there to get the festivites started !! While we can't have drinks there, we will make sure we are visible to all!! Although I can't make any promises, I'd like to stop by a DIS meet just to put some faces and names together. Saturday before we sail would be fun just so we can recognize DIS friends as we pass on the ship. So that would be my first choice. Monday would be my second choice, but I see how conflicts with other schedules might be more likely.

Just so everyone is aware - After weighing all of the options and careful consideration I have changed my vote. I am opting for Sat before the sail away party as well. But I'm not missing the Dolphins!!!!

VAGal--I'm so glad that your doggie is doing better and you can still cruise. You get a gold medal from me for bringing the in-laws. That would never work for me. We're bringing my parents though so we're still spending the holiday with realitives, just not crazy realitives.

Ken--Is it still raining too? I heard some parts of FL are getting up to 30 inches. That is a lot of rain.

I just came back from the Cheesecake Factory. Our office (all 4 of us - we have a small HUD team here) decided to treat ourselves. The big deal is I ate a salad and DID NOT order or even taste any cheesecake. I just kept reminding myself I can't afford to do it, wait until the cruise and you can eat as much crap as you want but not now - lose more then eat!!!!
I plan on taking a nap tomorrow so I can stay up until midnight to make ressies!

Ken - How's the weather holding up down there?

Okay, I'll vote for Saturday before the sailaway party too. I'd like to make it as early as possible so I can unpack if possible. I'm weird like that --I like to have everything in its place so vacation can really start once the sailaway party starts. Am I weird, or do other people do that too? That's why I missed the DIS meet on my last cruise--I was busy unpacking!
