party: PAID In FULL!!! Ready to set sail. Now if we can just figure out our shore activities. We're having a tough time finding things that will appeal to and or accept children ranging in age from 5 to 15. Of course the divide and conquer option is a possibility, but kind of takes the family part out of family vacation. :confused3 At least I still have a few days to work on it.
Have a great week counting down to the 24th for ressies!

Lorie - Congratulations!!!:cheer2: :cool1:

Shell - Lora posted directions for the FE on post #1407. It's not hard at all.
I'll see you at MVMCP. You'll recognize me. I'll be the one with the big :) SMILE :) on my face!

Ken - Here's what my research yielded:

1 nautical knot = 1.1507794 miles per hour. So a knot is a little over 1 mph.
If the wind is blowing at 50 knots, it's pretty windy!!! :dance3: Hold on to your hat! pirate:

I have a very fond "daughter/daddy" memory from our first cruise. She was just 3 and we were standing on deck 10 about 11:00 P.M. The ship was making a B-line back to PC and headed into the wind. I bet the wind was blowing 40 MPH across the deck. My daughter is pretty tiny and was laughing uncontrolably trying to keep on her feet.

That beautiful memory is exactly why we do what we do!

Okay - is it really PAID in full or CHARGED in full?!?! :rotfl2: Ours is charged in full and I'm just waiting for the credit card bill to hit the mailbox.
We were looking at the Shipwreck and Reef Snorkeling tour in Grand Cayman as a possibility, and it's ages 5 and up. I hope they adjust the departure times for our cruise since the info I have lists departure times as 0745 and 1340 hrs. Neither would work for our cruise since we are ashore at 1100 and back aboard at 1600 hrs. DD still wants to do the Aquaboat and Snorkel Adventure, but the cost is more than double the other one.

The county just north of us has closed school for tomorrow. Usually our county follows what they do. If DS doesn't have school tomorrow the make-up day is the day before Thanksgiving.:headache:

Joan - It feels much better to call it "paid in full"!
Time restriction is the main reason we're not going to do any shore excursions in Grand Cayman. We opted to shop and hang out at Margaritaville.

Well, ours is charged in full. And the bill hit our box already. We had made a huge payment right before so the shock wasn't supposed to be as big. Yet, it still was.

Our schools just closed. I think our makeup day is the day I'm set to go to MNSSHP in October. I guess we'll be calling her out sick.

OK, I'm busted. It's charged in full and I will join you in waiting for the mushroom cloud at the mailbox! :scared: Maybe I can work out a signal with the mailman so Ray can have the smelling salts ready. :rotfl: But hey, how can you put a price tag on celebrating 20 years of friendship? :grouphug:

I'm still thinking of what to do for my FE gifts, never participated before so don't know where to start!!

Is it supposed to be for kids only or adults too? Cuz I'm fine with people just dropping for my kids.

Advice?

I didn't realize until today that there is a hurricane by/in/around Florida. I haven't watched the news for a few days. Hope everyone stays safe and doesn't have too many school days to make up.

School starts for DS on Thursday. DD and I started a couple of weeks ago on a lazy schedule, today we started on our regular schedule. We're hoping to be ahead by March so we can take a long Spring break when the baby comes.

Megan--You can do the FE gifts however you want. You can give a gift to the family to share, or something for each person, it doesn't matter. I didn't put a lot of rules on it because I wanted it to be fun, not stressful. Whatever you do it'll be fine.

My mom told me today that she got her passport in the mail, my dad's should be on it's way. I didn't even know that they had applied. I have to admit that I'm excited and scared about them cruising with us. It will definately be different but I'm hoping a good kind of different.

When we were gone over the weekend the older two had a hotel room next to ours but not connected to ours and got along just fine (we had brought the baby monitor and had threatened them with it but we didn't have to use it). That made us realize that the next cruise they could be in an inside cabin across the hall from us and be just fine. I called today to see if any Cat 11s were left for this cruise, there were two but they weren't any where near us and it wouldn't have saved very much $$$ anyway since we're so close to the sail date. The DCL rep said that at this point all the other categories are a gty status.

We just got word that school will be letting out 2 hours early tomorrow. This way, we still get credit for the day, but they get out in time in case preparations need to be made. Hurricane makeup days are the week of thanksgiving for us. The superintendent of schools must know we are going on a cruise!

It's so bizarre to me that you guys actually have scheduled hurricane days. We get snow days up here! I'd rather be in the south in the warm weather all year than have to deal with the cold and snow and ice. Our scheduled snow make up days are in Feb for Presidents day and during the Spring/Easter break. If we have too many they extend the school year in June.

We have friends that just got off a cruise in Miami today and were to fly out this morning. Well, their flight was delayed, and we still can't get ahold of them. They were pretty worried, but we're all from Kansas, so we're used to dealing with tornadoes--not hurricanes! Is the weather that bad in Miami right now? I guess I need to be watching the news a little more closely. For all of you Florida people, please fill me in on what's going on there. I hope you're all safe and sound.:grouphug:

Just checked out allears.net. Deb's has posted links to the Nat. Hurricane Center, Orlando Sentinel, and photos taken near WDW. Also WDW will open at 8am tomorrow and operate as long as is safe!

So far, we have nothing but clouds in my area. My DD is very upset about missing her first day of school and the Open House tonight. We got our house ready for possible flooding and cleaned up the yard in case of high winds.

It's almost 10:00 p.m., and we still haven't heard from our friends. Apparently their flight from Miami has been delayed. I wish we could get ahold of them though so I could quit worrying and go to bed!

I'm sure missing the first day of school can be pretty upsetting to some kids. My kids would celebrate!:rotfl: They always like school once they get started, but they sure love their summers too (almost as much as their mother--who is a teacher)!:thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a good evening!

Susan

The wind in blowing and it's been raining heavily for over 24 hours now. We had a tornado about 10 miles from here that flipped a car over and damaged a building. I think the news said there were 400 homes without power in our small county.
Still waiting to find out if there will be school tomorrow.

How's everyone else in FL doing?
