11/22/08 Thanksgiving 2008 cruise thread. Double Dipping Travelling Turkeys!

Welcome! From what I've read, it sounds as if Costa Maya is supposed to be up and running by the time we are there. I, too, was wondering if Disney would change our itinerary. I'll be happy going anywhere! We haven't done the western yet, so all of that will be new to us. We did do the eastern and loved it!

After going back and forth a hundred times about doing this cruise, I finally booked it today.

What company did you all use for insurace (if you purchased it)? I was wondering if any company offers a refund on the insurance cost if you cancel by a certain time. The one my travel agency uses will not refund the cost at any time and I wasn't sure if this was common practice. We still aren't 100% sure we will be able to do this cruise, but we wanted to lock in the price since it keeps going up every few weeks. If we don't get the insurance within 10 days we won't get the pre-existing family member coverage. I am so clueless when it comes to this stuff.

So I am thinking that it is way too early for DCL to predict whether or not the piers will be all repaired and the town and fishing village of Majahaul (sp?) will be thriving by Nov. 22, 2008. It seems to me that they wait until they absolutely have to announce such changes. Costa Maya itself (just the beaches if you can get to them away from the dock area) is stunning! The water is so blue and clear!

I hope I don't choke on my chocolate souffle when I get the price quote for this cruise when we are sailing in a few weeks!:confused3

I am sure the Thanksgiving cruise is more than the others..........especially
a double dip!

The only way I could justify a fourth DCL is that we would for sure get free airfare with miles this time around.

I'll let you know what they say and if we for sure book when we are back in late Nov.

Until then............I will make sure the Magic is still magic!:wizard:

Take Care Disers.................:disrocks:

Thanks for bumping us back up. It is turning into fall here.

What does everyone think of the 2009/2010 itenerary rumors? Alaska and Hong Kong sound fun, but no Castaway Cay.

If I had the money and the time, I'd book either one of those. Even without CC, it's still a Disney cruise and a day on a Disney cruise is better than a day not on one. :cool1:

If DCL does cruise to Alaska, I am definitely going to be looking into booking!:thumbsup2 My DH REALLY wants to cruise to Alaska, and that is a sure way to keep him cruising with Disney.;)

Hi! I just booked our second Disney cruise. Can't wait to join you on the Thanksgiving double dip!!

As for Costa Maya, it's not my favorite port. Some people love it, but I'd be happier with another port. Doesn't really matter either way. We'll enjoy wherever we go. They can take us to the desert as long as they stop at CC twice!

Welcome, Jeast!:welcome: I can't wait to do the DD! We've cruised with DCL three times now, and CC is still my favorite part by far!

We leave 13 months from today. Okay, so that is still 396 days, but its finally less than 400 days.
Hope everyone has a great week!

Hi everybody, looks like we'll be part of the traveling turkeys! We were on the Western a couple of weeks ago, and went ahead and booked again. This will be our 4th cruise, gotta love Disney!!

You will have to give us an update when you come back this year, so we know what to expect for turkey day next year. Have a great trip!

Welcome to all our new cruisers!

oooooohhhhhh! Just got qoutes for this cruise from our current TA and DCL so we know hat to expect when they quote us our rebook in a few weeks! Ouch!:confused3 That major holiday thing makes a difference! It is a $2,000 difference!!!!!! But we are still gonna go for it, I think!:thumbsup2 We are 100% sold on the DCL vacation for the four of us! SO fun! Such a great experience!

I will let you know when we return about the rebook thing! Our TA told us that this (your) cruise is almost sold out! It is filling up fast she said!

Take Care!

DIS NURSE:goodvibes

P.S. Our crusie docs just came in the mail for our upcoming 7 night Eastern so we are very excited, indeed!:woohoo:

Mickeyhugger,

Can you let us know how cold/warm the water is at CC when you are there? I'm interested.

We were there in November in 2005 and it was too choppy to go to CC so I don't know the temp of the water there, but the pools were too cold for my Florida blood. Actually, this past May, CC water was chilly for me.

Yes, we will!:)

As of now (we're definitely rebooking while onboard in THIS Thanksgiving) we're torn between Thanksgiving 08 OR, December 27th (just two days after Christmas 08.) I love doing the double-dip at CC, yet would love to be onboard the Magic for New Year's too. Oh, decisions, decisions!

Priscilla

Hi Priscilla,

I'm lurking over here too. "Goofy" and I are thinking of rebooking for next year.

So...is this group as fun as the Turkey Day 2007 group?
