11/22/08 Thanksgiving 2008 cruise thread. Double Dipping Travelling Turkeys!

We were all saying in my house that one year from today we would be at Castaway Cay!!

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving, but next year will be awesome!!!

Ok, so I have been reading the Thanksgiving '07 cruise meet thread and the trip reports and it sounds like they had lots of fun. So we have to prove to them that we can have as much fun and they did.:cool1:

More importantly, how was the food on their trip? DH is actually second guessing our decision to do the cruise on Thanksgiving. We were at WDW this year and he said it just didn't feel like Thanksgiving going out to eat. Even though I'm the one who makes the meal, I missed it a bit. But not enough to give up the cruise.

I didn't read any complaints. They said on Thanksgiving for dinner they served Lobster (since it was Thursday night), a Traditional Turkey dinner, vension and some other options.

Just saying Hi, I haven't read through the whole thread here but we booked for the Nov 2008 Thanksgiving cruise. We just came back from a 3 night on the Wonder 11-01-07 and want to stay a little longer this time. We loved Castaway Cay and my kids loved the kids club. Our first night was a little choppy as we were following tropical storm Noel but the rest was great. We're coming from Washington State so I'm hoping for some decent airfares if I can find them early. Anyone else coming from the West Coast?

Hey all Lampy here from the "Infamous" 04 and 05 Turkeys......Just got home yesteray from the 11/24 Eastern.....we rebooked this sailing for 08!!!!

Not yet! We still have to pay off the cruise before we can go on it. I'm now counting down to when we can make our Palo's/Flounder's reservations.

Welcome aboard!! I have read lots of your threads, we are all going to have a great time!!!

I've decided for the next year until our cruise I am going to pay for all my purchases with bills. Any change that I get back will be kept in my purse and dumped into a jar at the end of the day. Most of the time I'll dig into my coin purse and get exact change so I don't have to carry it around. But I thought I usually have a couple dollars in coins and if I started saving those it would add up quickly. I've also put my kids on a mission to save any loose coins they find. I don't know how many times I've seen a nickle or dime lying around the house and just left it there because I didn't want to bother with picking it up (how lazy is that). Now we have a special jar we decorated with tons of Disney stickers so everyone knows where to throw the coins. I figure I'll cash it in next Nov and use that money to pay transportation and lodging on the way down. Any one want to challenge us to see who can save more money?

I started saving my change on Nov 1st. I've already got $20. I keep it in a basket hidden from the kids 2 & 7. DH divides his change between both of DD's banks at the end of the day so that they will have their own stash of money. I know the then 3 yo won't really know what is going on and we will still buy them stuff, but the 7 yo likes the idea of saving "her" money for things. SO We're up to the challenge.:cool1: :woohoo:

Has anyone checked the prices on the 2009 cruises? I was hoping to switch to '09 because we booked the '08 Thanksgiving cruise kind of late and I thought it was too expensive. I checked DS's spring break, June, July, August, Thanksgiving, and Christmas cruises for '09 and every one is WAY more expensive than this cruise. I really don't understand that.

Long story short... looks like we're definitely joining you all for Thanksgivng next year.

We are booked for both the 08 and 09 and the 09 as of right now is 3k more:scared1: but......it is an Eastern in 09........

I have checked the 09 prices, and we decided to do a land and sea for Thanksgiving week of 09. We'll book the land part ourselves, but having just done a 3 night cruise the end of September, I was shocked at how the price really didn't change much for 09. For a family of four in September, it cost us $1315, and for the same category in 09, it is costing us $1495. I thought that was pretty good considering it will be two years from now.:thumbsup2 My DH wants to do other things besides just disney, so I'm happy getting him to commit to more cruises whether they're 3, 4, or 7 night.:goodvibes

Just wanted to give you all a heads up that a CAT9 - for 4 will be released tomorrow for this cruise, just in case you have friends that want to join you. We've managed to snag a ressie on the Eastbound Panama Cruise :cool1: :cool1: Enjoy your cruise.

We did this for our cruise last year and had over $400 saved for the cruise! We are taking it a bit farther this time...we put all change in the jar...always break bills for purchases...never use the change...if I had to guess, I would estimate we have at least $200 already!
Have my eye on the Hot stone massage!!:santa:

Hey guys! I haven't been on this board since April or May and I can't believe the time has gone by so quickly. Less than a year till the cruise!!!:cool1: I've only been on 1 Disney cruise so I was hoping you guys could answer a quick question: How soon do we get to make our Palo reservations? Is it 90 days out or something like that? I know I'm getting WAY ahead of myself but I'm making out my 2008 calendar and want to make sure to put stars all over that day! Thanks!

Merry Christmas from Birmingham, AL!!!:santa:

I tried to check the site to make a payment and see when I can make Palo's reservations, and it wasn't working. I guess they don't want my money that bad.

You will be able to book Palo's at 90 days as well as excursions, spa, etc. I think if you have a suite you can book 120 days out, but I've never been fortunate enough to have a suite, so maybe someone else can confirm that.:goodvibes

And don't forget you need to be paid in full before you are able to book!
