If I book a S/West 11:20 am flight out, would I get there ontime using DCL bus transportation.

(I have TSA pre, so hopefully not much wait at security.)

Thanks

Chris

You should be okay with that time. I believe DCL recommends nothing before 11:30, but plenty of people have gotten to the airport in time for flights that are even earlier than 11:20. My only concern is the current TSA situation. I've been hearing about big backups and MCO is one of the worst, but you are TSA Precheck so that should help.

With pre-check I would be less concerned about the TSA screening situation. The big worry I would have about a Southwest flight is that the line to check bags can get very long--as in 30-40 minutes--and even if you make the flight it can be stressful. In March we had no trouble making a noon flight on Southwest even with a nightmare line to check bags and a pretty standard 20-30 minutes for TSA (without pre-check) and had time for lunch at the gate. That said, I know my DW would have been frantic if we had been trying to catch a flight that was 40 minutes earlier even though we probably would have made it; albeit with not much time to spare.

If you choose that flight, you will want to get off of the ship as early as possible.

that's prob okay chronologically, but what if there is any sort of weather delay, plane delay, etc etc?
.......something which always weighs on my little mind

TSA in MCO was a NIGHTMARE when I flew home from there to Newark in the beginning of December. Like to the point where the line was long, they weren't even making us take off our shoes or any of that going through security. The line was so disorganized, people were pushing in front of you and cutting the line. It was awful, the worst it's ever been. Keep that in mind and I'd literally RUN off the ship if you want to make your flight.

u know, i misread...u r talking about a return flight. still, that's pretty close

We have never had more than a 5 minute wait checking bags outside. Most times no wait at all.

Remember that having Pre doesn't guarantee you'll be in the Pre line, so it all depends on how comfortable you are with the possibility of missing a flight.

isn't the OP asking about DCL transportation to the airport? Doesn't the 11:30 am cutoff means your flight has to be before then or you can't take it? Maybe I misunderstood though

Another issue is that sometimes flight times are changed. What if it ends up leaving earlier than originally scheduled?

Maggie's Mom is right , most people do OK with that time.

She is also right with the worry about TSA, add to that possible problems with the ship arriving late, Customs holding up clearance and construction, accidents and breakdowns on the trip to MCO.

It boils down to what is the limit of your stress level?

Hope you have a great cruise.

I think you mean the flight has to be after that. But in this case DCL's recommendation is that flights be no earlier than 11:30am. You can schedule when you want and if you have a flight before 11:30 and want to risk it using DCL transportation, you certainly can. Where it would be a requirement is if you were trying to use OnBoard Airline Check-in. (Which isn't a possibility in this case since Southwest does not participate.) For OnBoard Airline Check-in, if your flight is before 11:30 you can't use the service because they won't guarantee the luggage truck will get to the airport early enough to put your luggage on your earlier flight.

You should be fine. Just walk off with luggage (as soon as disembarking is allowed) and you should be on one of the first Disney buses to leave. We took the 11:20 flight home after our cruise last year with no problems and took Disney transportation.

ah yes, AFTER LOL

and ok, onboard checkin is what I was confusing!

Thanks!
