Has anyone heard anything more about this? Can they link 2 rooms? Did they iron out the kinks with face recognition etc.? (Will double post in the general forum too...)

It was very easy - I called 800-601-8455. There's a whole list of things you can pre-purchase (or purchase on behalf of people you know are cruising on Disney) in the Planning Center on disneycruise.com. The Minnie Gear (a cute hip purse) was very tempting - as is the pearl necklace that I definitely can't afford...

I also went ahead and put some of my spending money on my room account. I will be taking cash for shopping in ports, but this way my spending money I have right now definitely goes for cruise spending (rather than pre-cruise shopping).

Ye, we did the same thing. It's a good idea

Huh? :confused3 What does it mean to link DVDs? Also, what problems with face recognition? Please fill me in because I have never heard of either of these.

Whew! 4 pages over the weekend. we're a gabby bunch! :rotfl:

I think SJSH Mom was referring to the photo DVDs you can purchase now. I hadn't heard any updates, however, I hadn't been paying much attention because of the price.

I wondered if face recognition would actually help us group people - my theory is - all we have to do is make sure to have a couple photographs with the people we want to 'link' with and the FR will recognize us as being "family".

My burning question about the photo CDs is, can I get my back to back cruises on one CD? If not, it's not worth it for us - we don't get enough photos since we don't have kids in the clubs. And, in fact, I'm trying so hard to save money this year, I think I'll be thrusting my camera at anyone handy and pleading :worship: for them to take our photo! :rotfl:

happy day, all!

How do you do this????? I would love to pre-pay our excursions!!!

Also, is there a number we can call to try to switch to an early dinner time. We are currently in the 2nd seating and would prefer 1st.

Thank you everyone!!!!! :worship:

Trying to figure out the "ticker" at the bottom

<a href="http://www.magicalkingdoms.com/timers/"><img src="http://www.magicalkingdoms.com/timers/tickers/sgp9u9ept60tre82.png" alt="magicalkingdoms.com Ticker" border="0"/></a><br> <a href="http://www.magicalkingdoms.com/timers/"> <font size="-1">Free Disney Tickers</font></a>

I just can't get my "ticker" to work. It only shows up as a bunch of gibberish at the bottom........ Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Do I not use the HTML cut and paste???

You can call DCL or your TA and ask to be waitlisted for main dining. If it doesn't go through prior to the cruise, you can go to Rockin Bar D upon embarkation and ask to have it switched.

Oh what a great idea! I think it would be cool to mail Christmas cards from CC. Now let's see.... what are the chances that I'll actually have them ready in time. LOL

If what I have heard about the Castaway Cay Post Office (and the Bahamian Postal Service in general) is true, your Christmas cards might reach their destination by.. oh... let's say... the Fourth of July! Or maybe you'll get lucky and have a "bit of a delay" in delivery, in which case Christmas 2010 is not an unreasonable expectation. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Although, getting a Christmas card postmarked Castaway Cay would be way cool!

I finally decided that, rather than drag my good suit all the way to Florida again to wear for just one night, I'm going to rent a tux through Cruiseline Formal. When he heard this, my 11-year-old son (Mr. T-Shirt and Sweats) asked if I could rent him one as well. :scared1: There may be hope...

Have a great week all!!

While logged in, go to your User Control Panel (User CP in upper left corner of page) and select Edit Signature. Then post the link to the ticker there. The link from the ticker site that I use looks like this;

"
" (minus the quotes and the extra spaces)

so I don't think a straight HTML cut and paste will work. You'll need to copy the same style link from the ticker site.

Hope this helps.

As far as excursions, you can't pre-pay unless you book them directly and there is some controvery with this issue.
As for On board credits, go to the gifts and amenities page on the DCL site and you can buy On board credits which you can use for any purpose.
It kinda helps with the sticker shock when your bill is slipped under your door.
Just remember to keep good records of how much and what form of payment used to purchase OBC. I used personal checks and mailed them, but you can use a credit card too.
Another hint is pre paying your gratuities. And if you feel like it you can add a little extra for great service if you wish

Like Xxcell said, you can use the form on the website. I just called the 800 number and told them how much I wanted to place on my account. (actually, I used two different forms of payment, they were super nice about it!)

One caveat - if you use a disney gift card, make sure you keep the gift card. If there are any funds leftover at the end of your cruise, they have to refund them to the original form of payment.

I can hear you laughing - money left over, like that's going to happen! Well, on our last cruise between bingo winnings and winning the OBC at the DVC meeting, Mom (mstxmom) got a refund!

My you all have been busy. I think I missed a page or two of posts in there somewhere but I am not going backwards and trying to figure it out.

Denise - we cancelled the 3 Reef and changed to Nachi - wonder if I forgot to put a mark in that column. I will check it out as I would have said there were 3 there without that.

Linda - Sandieagosusie is assisting in the assingments so we will each do a group, her group will include me and my group will include her and neigher of us will know.

Not much else to report. As soon as David gets the pictures off the camera I will post a few. And, now that it is no longer wedding season, I will move on to cruise season. It is close to time for me to change out my closet, at least some of it. With Drew gone at school and no expected home until Thanksgiving, his room is a perfect place to stage things so that is what I will be doing. I will just hang things in there until it is time to pack. I make lists but never get it into the suitcase until the week we go. And, I always "mix things up" between family members in case good old Northwest looses a piece of luggage. Short a portion of my things would be way better than short all of them. :scared1: to say the least.

Gail - Welcome to Nachi Cocom! Glad you will be joining us. I pack the same way, but we use packing cubes. We each have a different color and 1/3 of each of our stuff goes in each suitcase. Makes it really easy to tell what's what.

We're going to Kennedy Space Center for the day on Saturday after we disembark. For those of you who have been before, would you recommend paying extra for the NASA Up Close Tour? This is the one that takes you close to the shuttle launch pad and to the vehicle assembly building and shuttle landing facility.

We did the shuttle tour 2 years ago and I loved it. They show you the launch pads and allot of cool things you would have no idea about. They took us by the Space station staging area as well. If you are into Space and the shuttle program then Yes do it.

Congrats on all those that got upgrades. I actually got to work on the FE gifts today:woohoo::woohoo: I'm slowly getting there. Still have to work on shirts for the boys. My problem is that I saved too many disigns with their favorite characters, and now I have too many to pick from. I still haven't told the boys that we are going yet. Whatever I work on I have to hide once they are back home from school. Then I wait for them to go to bed, but by the time they are in bed, I'm tired myself. In the end I know they'll get done. I also have to figure out how to fit everything in my carry one. One of my FE gift is quite fragile. I also have gifts from Mickey for the boys. I got them each sand buckets and I was going to put all their goodies in the bucket.

Any ideas on how I should tell them the news. My DH says not to tell them until the day of when they see us arriving at the port.

I hear arguing, so gotta run for now.

Gail, you are going to LOVE Nachicocoom! We had a taxi driver suggest it back in 2004, and it was one of the best days ever. Glad to hear you will get a surprise in the secret mickey's too - it wouldn't seem right that you run it and not get one. Now, about those photos . . .

John, when I mailed Christmas cards on ship, I did not mail them at Castaway cay. I just asked one of the cruise staff if they could take care of it for me and they did - the post mark was Cocoa Beach. The best you can hope for from Castaway is "sometime in this lifetime" lol

Y'all wanting main dining have a second chance on ship - just turn right in the atrium after boarding and go talk to the dining people.

Can't WAIT!
