11/13/04 Eastern Cruise only We Did It

Sue, I agree! NEXT MONTH!! YIPPEE!!!! :hyper: :hyper: :boat: :jumping1: :jumping3:

Ok, so I'm a little excited! LOL

I don't know anything about the restaraunts but would love to hear the answer.

Anybody??? When is the Dismeet at the Radisson and where?

I beleive the Radisson DIS Meet is at the pool around 6:30 or whenever people get there. We will be driving from the Tallahassee area after school, so we will be getting there a bit later I believe.

You don't live to far from me! We are in Dothan, AL. Just above Marianna, FL. We will be leaving in the am, so I'll wave as we go by! LOL

Yes, I know Dothan. We are actually in Crawfordville. We may be checking the kids out of school a bit early. I think it'll be about a 5 hour drive at least.

Oh, House of Princesses... I bought a whale bag. Can't wait to get it. Thanks for the recommendation.

We are going to be hooked! We will be easy to spot! We'll be the ones acting like fools! LOL:crazy:

Don't worry, Adisneymama! You won't be the only ones!! It's our first cruise ever too!:Pinkbounc I know we'll be hooked too, I already want to book a 7 day western!

That should be about right, Sue. We are planning on a 7 hour drive. We are going to leave a little early while Aubrey is still sleeping so that we can get as far as possible before she wakes up and has to stop constantly to go Potty! LOL Road trips were so much easier when she was in diapers LOL!

I missed the whale bag...where did you get it? what is it exactly?
Boy I am full of ???'s today!

Mrs..we must have posted at the same time. I know what you mean. DH and I will be looking into rebooking on the cruise.

Ok, so we'll act like fools together! LOL

The whale bag is a great beach bag that I just bought online on the recommendation by House of Princesses. It's at www.saltwatercanvas.com. I bought one of the irregulars because it was less expensive.

Now I just need my camera memory cards and a rolling soft sided cooler. Oh, and some film, and bonine, and also some ibuprophen. Better get shopping.

Sue

Sue, at the risk of being the only person with this question, what is" bonine"? I've heard of it but have no clue what it is.
I've packed most of our toiletries and our medicine/first aid kit but if there's anything I've missed...

Bonine is an anti motion sickness over the counter medication. It's suppossed to stop you from barfing over the rail of the ship. LOL

I would highly recommend for anyone worried about getting sea sick, that you start the medication the day before we sail. Give it a chance to get into your system. Don't wait until you are ready to hurl to swallow the pills, cause it won't work as well.

I don't expect to get sea sick since it didn't bother me last year, but November is supposed to have "rougher" seas. I picked up some children's dramamine for the girls. Rachel turned a little green last year the first night out. That is when it was the roughest. It might make them a little sleepy, but I think you will all agree that a little sleepy is a lot better than a lot pukey.:teeth:

Sorry, no reccomendations for restaurants by the Radison but, I was given one for a restaurant in St. Thomas today. One of the customers that comes into the pizzeria/restaurant where I work says his family owns "Waters by the Sea". It's supposted to be like 10 minutes from where we dock, near the airport. I'm thinking of trying that out.

Is anyone else staying at Disney the night before the cruise?

Anybody see any good deals on soft-sided coolers? I would like to get one to keep drinks cold in for in the room and to pack for shore excursions.

Tina - Sorry but the only place I could think of is Walmart or Target. We have one, but it doesn't have wheels and I don't think we will take it on excursions, but might use it in the room.

Hope you all have a good evening. Talk to you tomorrow!

Thanks, Sue! That was very informative! But I have one more question for anyone that can answer. I haven't been on any kind of boat since I was a child so I don't know if I'll get motion sick. Driving long distances in a car doesn't bother me so should I assume I'll be fine? We have a really wavy waterbed that my husband calls The SS Minnow and that doesn't bother me either (he hates it)
I also read in the Passporter that taking ginger a few days prior to leaving as well as every day during the cruise will also help.:earsgirl: :earsboy:

OK gang, we decided not to drive the RV, so.....we booked a room at the Radisson!!!!!!!!!!! :cloud9::cheer2: :cheer2: Looks like I'll be joining the get-together by the pool!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Question though. Do I need to call the Radisson to book the shuttle to the port? I thought I read somewhere about having to do that. Can I wait until we get there to book it? I guess I could call them and ask? Does anyone have a 1-800 number for the Radisson?

adisneymama, I'll try Wal-Mart for the cooler.

mrsmg, I would bring stuff for sea-sickness just in case. I don't get car sick, but my DH does AND he get motion-sickness! We had a waterbed at one time, but he did okay with it.

Sue, I'm sure you'll love your whale bag as much as I do! With four princesses, I have a lot of stuff to carry, and my bag holds it all.

I don't see anyone commenting on the Disney rolling cooler I saw in the catalog.....

I purchased a rc at Sam's club. About $20 and holds a lot of water bottles. (This was before I saw the Mickey one.) GrayFal found a rolling cooler on E-Bags.

Beware of 'fake' ginger...if you purchase something with ginger to help with the motion sickness, make sure it has true ginger in it. Not all Ginger Snaps are created equally! Having said that, my understanding is it's a great way to combat motion sickness naturally, with little or no side affects (like sleepiness).

Geesh, I'd better start thinking of putting together lists of things I should do...... :teeth:

Gosh, I turn my back for a few days and have a lot of catch up reading to do!!!!

I have missed you all, work has been busy, and I have been ill. Funny thing happens when you get a cold and have asthma...it ends up in my chest everytime...ugh...oh well, I am almost over that now.

Welcome to all of our new cruisers!!! How many are in our group now??? We are going to have a blast on the ship!!!!

It sure sounds like everyone has been busy....Ken and I are going to take Payton to a pumpkin patch and apple picking today..(Tyler doesn't want to go..it is homecoming today...he is growning up on me too fast)....It should be a lot of fun!!!!

I will talk to everyone soon!!!

Trish

Sorry, Vicki... I must have missed the Mickey one you are mentioning. I remember Pat posting the info about the ones on Ebags. It must have been on one of those days you were all post crazy! Could you refresh my memory??

Trish - Sorry you have been ill. I understand, I have asthma too and it always seems to bother me when I get sick.

Hi everyone! Aubrey has a bday party to go to next door, so I'll check back later.
