11/06/11 Dream 4 Day

HEY.....anybody dressing up for Pirate Night?

I'll probably just bring my pirate Mickey Ears (if I can find them) and drape some pirate 'booty' bling around my neck.

.

oh, and also:

SIX WEEKS PEOPLE!!!!

I need to think about anything I may need to order that requires delivery. Time to check out a couple of my favorite clothing websites I guess...thinking I need some new black slacks. Maybe I should go shopping in my closet first. :rotfl:

We plan to do something! Probably just a skull/crossbones tee with a bandana/eye patch, etc. pirate:

I'd love to join in the fun, but not quite to the extent of a full-blown costume! Now I just need to convince my husband to join in, too. :)

yeaaaaaaaaaaa!! :cool1:

thank for the reminder about clothes... I should start checking things out too, especially what I can pull together for pirate night. Then I'll probably hit party city for some pirate accessories. SO MUCH FUN!!!!

gotta check my closet and see what fits.. LOL

As far as pirate night.. we were bah humburg on the alaska cruise.,. but for this cruise not dressing up.but I'll wear pirate t shirt and an eye patch..

As we are (most likely) doing Palo on Pirate night, I want something easy I can just wear while playing with the kids in the earlier part of the evening. I wonder if wearing the ears for a brief time will give me 'hat hair'???

Been meaing to check with recent 4 day cruisers to make sure pirate night is till on CC day. That's going to be a pretty busy day! Thank goodness we'll have a sea day the next day to sleep in.

Glad to hear it, as at least one of your table mates will be in full blown pirate gear, (she's always wanted an excuse for a pirate costume!) :thumbsup2 Wonder if I can talk Ian and Sukie into bringing/wearing their swashbuckling pirate shirts??? Ian, you know how GOOD you look in that, right?

We are doing Palo on pirate night.

Absolutely! I paid too much money piecing my pirate garb together. I will probably wear it for every halloween and cruise for the rest of my life. LOL.

:lmao::lmao: But only on a windy night!

A word of warning to all on this thread...posters and lurkers....this is a JOKE...while the cakes are pretty, most don't taste very good and some of them even fly off your plate!

Jay and I are doing Pirate themed Tee-Shirts, Bandanas/Skull Caps, Eye Patch, Ear Rings, but no Makeup/Smudge. We will use this contemporary pirate look for also Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

We are kind of doing our own version of a back to back trip, but for 2 WDW Party themes, with a visit to the Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party after the Cruise.

I think if folks are new to DCL they should try everything, that's the best way to form one's own opinion, and a first cruise is so very exciting!

Question: I guess it is okay to dress pirate casual, even dark Jeans to match your pirate gear, when dining at your assigned restaurant on Pirate Night? We have second seating, so I don't want to try to get back to the stateroom and change again and then try to find a nice place to view the fire works.

I have no more room for expanded Pirate Outfits with all the Door Magnets, Fish Extender Gifts, and trinkets from Walt Disney World. But I kind of wish I bought Jay the Deluxe Jack Sparrow Outfit. He just needs a few alcoholic drinks to add to the Pirate swagger, cheeky smile and British Accent.

So the cake isn't anything special at the Pirate Night? It was only last year that I thought there would be a dessert night, with chocolate fountains to dip strawberries in it, maybe Italian Style Pastries, and an ice cream sundae bar. One can Dream on the Dream ?

first, what does "fly off your plate" mean? Is there a funny story behind that? You must share!!

second, is the pirate party cake the "beverly" of cakes??? :rotfl:

how big should our FE's be??

I read that the wall that the fish is on is much smaller on the Dream than on the other 2 ships. I just saw a pic on another thread of someone's FE, and the angled wall is TINY, so I'm assuming it's on the Dream. Anyone know?

At first I was going to just do a mickey tote bag, then I thought I needed to make it more fun (so the kids can check their own pockets), so I was going to order one from Ebay, but she hasn't gotten back to me, so I'm having more time to think. The pic I saw was 3 cute totes (small ones from a craft store) all just hanging from a back piece of material. I could actually do that, without sewing. And without a dowel at the top, it won't stick out if the wall if very small.

What you you all using??

The pirate party foods look yummy but don't taste as good as they look...but we always do late seating so maybe we are not hungry..

PHIL ct there is a chocolate buffet on the 7 day, not sure on a 4 day...may not have enough time.

My DD is dressing up - we assembled the cutest costume, I can't wait to see her in it on the ship. My DH is wearing a pirate mickey shirt. I bought a scraf with sculls and crossbones on it - that is the extent of my costume!

bellebud - My gf just got back from her trip on the Dream - and yes the place to hang the FE is MUCH MUCH smaller than the Magic and Wonder. She had a new FE made for the trip and it was too big. She sent me a picture, and I would post if here if I could figure it out.....

at any rate - my FE was in process of being made by the same person. She said they were 12" wide. I told her that was too big - based on my friend having so much trouble with hers being too big and she is downsizing them to 8". I think 8" wide will work especially based on the picture I have from my friend.

Let me see if I can get the picture on here - it might take a bit.

That being said - if you are having issues with ebay - I highly recommend Esty.com for your FE. There are many talented people on there and the one my friends and I are having made is by StitchesAPlenty. But you should go with whomever is doing the type of designs you like. If you go with same person as me - ask for the narrower FE.

I am sure what is meant here is that the pirate party is up on the top deck where it is VERY windy. The cake is so dry and lightweight that it blows right off your plate. I am actually surprised that they keep serving it - but they do... LOL
