11/06/11 Dream 4 Day

Ok, here is a picutre of the Fish wall where you hang your FE. This is "my" room for our upcoming cruise. :goodvibes

And here is my friends FE on her room 8084 on the Dream:

I hope this helps everyone out. The size of the above FE in the picture is 12 inches wide. Does not fit very well and is "hanging" out in the hallway where it can be knocked off".

thank you so much for posting that! I'm definitely going to make mine w/ small tote bags. Saw a bunch yesterday at the Christmas Tree Store.

Sounds like a DIS meet in Palo on CC day - that is when we booked ours - also my birthday! We are doing 6 so we can change into our pirate stuff and maybe make dinner or part for our DS before fireworks. We did that last time but I just put on a pirate hat with my black dress.

I am glad to hear that the FE thing might be an Issue - I am not buying a new one! Mine has only been used one time and I LOVE it! Maybe I will just attach it with one of those plastic things?

I am becoming a little stressed in a happy way that it is coming up! Isn't it 40 days from today?! Or midnite tonite rather? Yippee!

:lovestruc

I am sure what is meant here is that the pirate party is up on the top deck where it is VERY windy. The cake is so dry and lightweight that it blows right off your plate. I am actually surprised that they keep serving it - but they do... LOL

On the Wonder last April insanity descended om me and I queued for cake. It took forever to wind my way to the table, and they were out of forks. I asked the cast member for a fork and she made a hand gesture to me that I should eat the cake with my hands. I wanted to make a hand gesture back at her but opted to just snarl politely.

I finally found a fork and went up to deck 10, where promptly a strong gust of wind came and blew my piece of cake off my plate and over the railing. It would have been poetic justice had the wind-launched cake hit the fork gesturing cast member in the face. I would have then considered the evening a great success.

.

Leslie,

Thanks for posting the pictures - oh boy that area is small. I'm not making a new FE, we'll just have to make do with what I have. I will attach it to the fish with a cable tie and hope for the best.

The pirate party foods look yummy but don't taste as good as they look...but we always do late seating so maybe we are not hungry..

PHIL ct there is a chocolate buffet on the 7 day, not sure on a 4 day...may not have enough time.

We usually have late seating too and are too full. This past cruise we opted to eat and early dinner in Beach Blanket Babylon so we could enjoy the buffet at the pirate party.

Though my cake was launched into the ocean the consensus was that the cakes did not taste very good.

I do HIGHLY endorse the goodies that can be found in the Cove Cafe. They put little pastries out throughout the day that are excellent, and they change throughout the day.

I plan on fetching coffee and pastries at the COVE every morning !!!

ummm... can I :rotfl:

that's a funny story!! I am sorry though that it happened. Thanks for the warning about the wind. I'll remember that! :)

FE's: I think the one I've used in the past was 8 1/2 inches, and I think that is the size some folks were getting off e-bay. That angled 'fish wall' does look narrower than on the classic ships.

Cake: A good rule of thumb for DCL cakes is if it has pudding, mousse, fudgy icing or whipped cream or sauce of some kind, it should be OK. Most of their cakes are dry, dry, dry. HIGHLY recommend any of the tarts you might see (Cove Cafe for instance), those are usually quite good.

So, I have a 'neener, neener' moment here...try not to get jealous.
My boss just yelled out "Jackie, are you here?" and I responsed "No".:cutie: He walked by and said "you'll want to be here for this" and handed me a gift bag from Disney's Aulani resort and inside was a box of Honolulu Cookie company shortbread cookies. A crew from our newsroom was over there last week and brought back treats. The gift bag is beautiful and will probably become my new lunch bag.

Time to wrap up this work day and head for the hills...gotta hit the grocery store and find something interesting.

You can definitely color me jealous!

The Fish Extender I ordered off of EBAY is 8 inches wide by 16 inches long.
I didn't know about the tote bag idea before I ordered it. The Tote Bag actually sounds easier to hold stuff than the pocket hangers.

Wouldn't a Tote Bag be even wider? Anyone have pictures of there Tote Bag hanging on the fish hook ?

---

It was 85 degrees today in Connecticut.

What temperatures are you hoping for in Castaway Cay and Nassau?
I would be thrilled with the high 70's in Florida and the Bahamas.

We are kind of doing our own version of a back to back trip, but for 2 WDW Party themes, with a visit to the Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party after the Cruise.

Sounds like an great way to celebrate the two holidays. :thumbsup2

Ian and Jackie thanks for the chuckle over the cake.:rotfl:

Five weeks and we'll be in Orlando. Our cruise docs for 11/3 and our Magical Express docs came today. It's finally coming together. :woohoo::yay::woohoo:

Tammy - I hear you. This is my 3rd cruise, but all the others were the week after Thanksgiving, and our group was 20+ people. We all had stockings that we used for FEs. So, this will be my first time cruising w/o that group of friends so I had to purchase or make a FE. I didn't have the energy to make them and I needed two - so I ordered them.

Funny story is I ordered them like a month ago and she had just finished making them and noticed that mine had a spelling error that we had both missed. Because of that it had to be redone, so since she was re-doing it anyways I asked her to shorten the width to 8 inches. I am hoping that works out good. I do need to remember to bring the zip ties though....

Ian - too funny. I actually have lost food off he plate every time I have tried to eat at pirate night. It is crazy. My kids food always ends up on the ground or overboard. You have to work hard to avoid the flying food and really it is just about the worst tasting food I have ever had on the ship. By the time the time the second child lost a food item, we were done. walked over to the ice cream station and called it a night!

The stupid thing is - WHY, I ask WHY was I even in line for food??? Not like I was hungry or needed to be eating anything else.

We have Palo's the first night at 7 pm. I am hoping we can get the kids fed at the early seating and meet our servers, then drop them off at the kids club and head to Palo's for our dinner. Shouldn't be too hard to serve a few kids meals. LOL. And it's not like the kids menu is all that complicated.

It'll be 102 in Phoenix tomorrow! I'll be ecstatic with anything less than 90!:sunny:

It is going to be near 90 today at Disney World, but we are supposed to cool down by weekend to low 80's and even drop to high 60's at night!

The pic I saw of a tote bag FE was tiny tote bags (like you'd get in a craft store - maybe 6" wide) hanging by a 2" wide piece of material going straight down the back. It looked like the material going down the back was knotted through the handles of each tote bag (no sewing - I can do that!)

It looked like it would work well.

Wow!! Sounds like a great time!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

(I'll remember to not bother with the food).

Pretty much the only thing I don't like about Phoenix is how looooooong it takes to break that 100 degree stretch! But in a few more weeks we will be gloating about dining al fresco at lunch while many of our friends are digging out their winter-wear.

Please don't rub it in. Not like I can easily choose to move to a nicer climate. Ideally, I would love to move back to CA someday. Great weather there. I don't mind the cold that much, but I hate the windy days or the days when the wet rain blows right through you. Those don't happen all the time, but enough to drive me inside for those days and dread going out. Until then, I get to live in the #1 traffic jammed area in the country (DC metro area). Yeah! (not)
