11/06/11 Dream 4 Day

The place to get packing cubes is eBags. I recommend their own eBags brand, much less expensive and just as good as the Eagle brand.

Their prices are also better the Eagle folders, eBags does not have their own brand for those.

.

thank you for the info!! :)

since you use them, do you recommend one size cube over the other? It sort of seems the large size is a bit of a waste, since you can almost fit too much in there, knim? What about the folders - there's a couple sizes, correct? I assume at times you use all 3 sizes of cubes for different needs, but just wondering if you 'never' use that largest size.

So here I am, finally checking in after gosh knows how long.

. I am so glad I did NOT cancel the 3 day portion so I can play with our friends and not miss out on that leg... I look forward to my own room - even though I probably shouldn't have done it - I think it will be lovely. I am a little sad that I dont have my color printer and laminating equipment available - no one will know where to find me after the 4 day (maybe that's a good thing)...

Anyway, thanks for getting me all mojo'd up again! I would normally ask a million questions about Champagnegirls and Dis meets - but I have my sis to fill me in on that - WHEW!

Hello Sister!

Glad you popped in to get your mojo working! :rotfl2: I am also VERY glad you are staying on for the 3 day and I think you will appreciate that solo cabin after the wildness of three generations crammed together.

There is no official Champagne Girls meet, since the organizers (Deb and Mandy) both cancelled this cruise.

As for our DIS MEET....we need to decide where to do that (assuming at about 3PM on embarkation day). Think I should post the question on the main forum to see where other groups have been gathering. Anybody been hearing anything on that topic?

be verrrrrrry careful!! there are SO MANY cool packing accessories, and really cool pieces of luggage on-line, my head was spinning! Our luggage isn't old, so I can't justify getting any new, but boy it's tempting!! We were just at an outlet the other day, and there was a Samsonite store there :yay:, so I drag dh and the kids in, and show them the pieces I've seen on-line, and all the cool pockets, and things that snap in and out, and pockets, and more pockets... and I just get so excited! :woohoo: Not one of them got excited with me though , and my dh was even visibly annoyed after a little while. Needless to say, no new luggage. I'll have to go get some cubes and folders though, and that should be a good 'fix' for me! And I'm definitely going by myself! :snooty: to them all!

I'll go shopping with you - I love bags and would love to get the luggage that has 4 wheels. But like you our luggage is in good shape, so I can't justify spending the money for new. I am however looking for carry on totes! I saw some really cute ones at the Totes Outlet. My older DD's (who are not cruising with us) have the large Vera Bradley duffle bag, I might just borrow those! I'm gonna go insane trying to figure this all out

Ah, that sent me scurrying off to see what we have!

I forgot they sell them in sets now. I don't have any of the largest size, just the smallest and middle. I think the largest size would be too big for our needs and would not fit well in our suitcases.

I measured our folders and they are the 18". In use them for button front shirsts. Od course then shirts have folds but they aren't wrinkled. It really keeps them snug and so they don't slip around and end up bunching in the case. Our last cruise in April I didn't want to take a garment bag and so usedba folder for linen trousers. The 2 pIrs had folds but I thought they unpacked great, considering the flight, the over night in the hotel the day before and not being unpacked until we were on board.

yes, that's some of the luggage I was showing dh. I was wheeling it around saying how fantastic is was, then he came up with "it takes up more room in the overhead" and the salesman had to agree. Oh well.

Hi all! I am brand new to this cruise meet on-line stuff. This is only my 2nd cruise. My aunt, who is an avid cruiser, told me that there is a way to find out if DCL has sold tickets for less than I paid and then request a refund of the money. She usually buys her cruise tickets way in advance and then watches the prices somehow. She hasn't sailed Disney but says there should be a way to find this out. Any advice?

Hi all! Did anyone else receive a mystery $8 credit from DCL? Can't wait to meet you all in November! - Mrs. Fish

Ok I am so ready for a vacation - in the past week we have had an earthquake, Hurricane Irene came through and now it has not stopped raining since Saturday and all the roads around my house are flooded. We have almost 8 inches of rain, and its not supposed to clear out til the weekend. I was able to leave work early today, only to find every road I was on was closed due to flooding - what a scary feeling. I was so glad when I was finally able to get home. Some of my co-workers had to turn around and go back to work, they couldn't get home.

I was looking at the calendar and 2 months from today we will all be enjoying our cruise - can't wait :cool1:

That could be a gas surcharge they had when you booked an no longer apply so they credit you YEAH FREE MONEY!!:cool1:

We just book the Radisson at the Port for 11/4 -11/6 anyone else staying there?
OMG START PAKCKING!!

Hope you all are doing well! We got a $11.52 refund - must be based on number of folks on your trip - there are 2a and 1c on ours  Can't wait!!! Hoping all of you have a great weekend!

I haven't received any refund, but then again I booked this quite a while ago, shortly after it opened up for booking.

Me either, I booked in Feb of 09, I really wanted to go on Dream!

I think I booked in March or April of '09. All I know is Jackie (ibounetoo) called me from MCO, told me that she had booked a back-to-back while on board, had some friends and family coupons for us for an additional onboard credit and I should go book the same cruises.

Not being one to argue, I called DCL and that was that.

This cruise is getting close, isn't it?

The closeness hit me yesterday at work when I was doing some planning. I had to work on a product roadmap for the next few weeks. We work in 2-week development cycles called, sprints. Two weeks of craziness, a release and then moving on to the next sprint.

I realized yesterday that I only have 4 sprints before we leave for vacation. That had me in a panic, needing to make sure I have all my ducks in a row!

There are some "to-dos" for this weekend, dragging out the dress trousers and the tuxes to see what state they're in and counting cufflinks and studs to make sure all are accounted for and digging out the bow ties.

We're doing Remy on the 3-night after this cruise and I think dress codes are silly, so therefore rather than wear a suit, I prefer to adhere to the policy but be spectacularly overdressed. There's nothing quite as satisfying as passive-aggressive evening attire. Besides tails are much more comfortable than a business suit.

The other clothing is all pretty much accounted for. I am planning that we don't pack all that much and will do laundry on board on our last night in readiness for the 3-night.

I'm really tired of overpacking and schlepping too much.

The biggest pains are always the electronics, what with the 12,405 power adaptors and cables.

The door signs are made. The magnetic tape has been bought. Aside from that, fortunately, there's pretty much zero shopping that we need to do to get ready for this cruise provided all the studs, cufflinks and ties are accounted for.

Last year I received a credit like this from DCL. When I inquired about it they said it was the amount in taxes that they had overcharged. Interesting that they still have this issue ongoing.

I haven't seen any credits, but then again I haven't looked yet! Will have to check it out.

FEs are almost complete, just need to get cranking on the FE gifts and door magnets. Starting to feel like too much to do and so little time. And we haven't told the kids yet. I can't believe we have it still as a secret! I think oldest was suspicious because he kept asking about our next cruise and when it is, etc. Luckily we kept talking about the one in 2012....hoping that buys me more time to keep this secret.

note to self - when trying to keep this secret - don't leave things sitting on the printer where he kids can find it!!!!!

So looking for after cruise hotel...we have a 9am flight home Friday....we want to do Capones Dinner Show... Thursday night http://www.alcapones.com/ in Kissimmee...it got great reviews on trip adviosr and we just wanted to do something low key but fun to top off the trip...any one ever gone? Should I look for a hotel still close to MCO or should I look for something in Kissimmee or something in between...I am thinking as close to MCO would be best? TIA for any suggestions.
