11/06/11 Dream 4 Day

OMG 65 days left Happy Labor Day to all!! Quick question are we still doing the champagne girl thing? XOXO Dawn from NJ

Well we survived the hurricane we were without power for 20 hours and had to be evacuated to higher ground. We had the small creek become a raging river:scared1: At 4am the fire dept came and got us and the 3 dogs in height of Irene in a frond end loader. We road in the bucket and were brought to the RED CROSS. Home was fine and so our we looking forward to a much needed trip to see the mouse!! :hippie::hippie:

Are you in Moores Landing? I'm in Deerbrook, was without power from Saturday at 10:30-11:00 until Wednesday at 8:30 ish...happy that was the worst of what Irene left for me!

I will be traveling with 5 staterooms, I'm so excited! I just need to get airfare but it's so darn expensive right now :(

:goodvibes:goodvibes YES I am right across the street from you in MOORS LANDING!! We are in the Houses HOW COOL!! Should hook up for coffee.. PM me anytime SMALL WORLD!! Dawn

It really is a small world, what are the chances haha! We should meet up before or def during the cruise!!

Who did you get to do your door signs? I have been looking unsuccessfully for someone to help me on the disigns boards, but so far I have been unlucky in my search. Please tell, or send me a message!!

Thanks! Leslie

I sent you a PM.

Hey Cruisers - Happy Labor Day!!

Have spent my weekend working on my FE gifts - the kids are done, now just need to work on the adults. We are flying Airtran to Orlando, so our space in luggage is limited - boy that makes it tough, trying to make sure I have enough room for everything

Happy Labor Day to you too!!

I'm currently having fun looking at threads w/ FE gifts to get ideas!! I love all the planning!! :goodvibes

some people on my last cruise shipped it to the hotel avoiding space issues..

I'm seriously considering shipping some of our things. We'll be in Orlando for a conference the couple of days before the cruise, and we're surprising the kids w/ the cruise (they'll think we're just headed home). How do I pack snorkels and goggles and them not figure something out?? Also, 7 extra days of clothes! And FE gifts (which I'm tricking my dd11 telling her we're doing a christmas gift exchange w/ dissers). I can't let her find them in the luggage during our weekend conference.

But, if I ship them to our hotel, they'll wonder "what's in the box, mom?!!??"

oh, forget it! I'm stumped w/ how to pack for the surprise. :upsidedow

Oh boy, that's a tough one - I was had thought of shipping my stuff to our hotel, guess I would have to call to see if they would accept the package. I'm gonna wait til closer to the trip and I get my luggage and clothing together to see what I need to do. Shipping directly to the ship might be the best option - wonder how you go about doing that? :confused3

Maybe if you ship to the hotel, they could hold the box for you until you leave, then when you do pick it up tell the kids it was something you received (or won???) from the conference??? The snorkel stuff is going to be tough though!!

Happy Labor Day.

NOW I feel like this cruise is going to be real.

Beautiful day here in Chicago. Absolutely perfect weather.

I'm going to research about sending a box directly to the ship. I'll post here if I find out some good info.

I also like the idea of saying the box (if I send it to the hotel) is from the conference. Thanks so much for that idea! Now in thinking about tying the excuse of the box into the conference, that might work well. OR, I can bring an extra piece of luggage w/ all the cruise stuff, and say it's for the conference. hmmm... (thinking cap on)...

So here I am, finally checking in after gosh knows how long. This cruise has been nothing but emotional ups and downs for me, up's are pretty easy to figure, the downs are because I couldn't get the rest of the family (present sister excluded) all worked up and in a frenzy - which brings me down... alias - here we are some 60 plus days out and I feel N O T H I N G. Thought I would come here and get some mojo and you know what? It worked! Especially the packing talk...

Cubes, folders and rolling duffle bags. Again, still not sure why people don't talk about the folders? I learned about them from someone who does a lot of cruising and I think they are invaluable for the button front camp shirts.

Suits and tuxes go in a folding garment bag.

I have to say Ian is the man who turned us onto the "folders" and cubes and I would NOT travel without them. Frankly I think the folders work better than garmet bags (for shirts) just my 2cents... and since no formal night this trip I'm packing light since I'll be hanging with different folks on the 3 day portion from the 4 day portion. I am so glad I did NOT cancel the 3 day portion so I can play with our friends and not miss out on that leg... I look forward to my own room - even though I probably shouldn't have done it - I think it will be lovely. I am a little sad that I dont have my color printer and laminating equipment available - no one will know where to find me after the 4 day (maybe that's a good thing)...

Anyway, thanks for getting me all mojo'd up again! I would normally ask a million questions about Champagnegirls and Dis meets - but I have my sis to fill me in on that - WHEW!

Do you need me to get you whipped up into a frenzy?

A. Yes, the folders are MUCH better for shirts. I don't travel without them any more for either holidays or business.

B. We're packing the tails, but that's for Remy on the 3-night. They want jackets and ties? Well, then there's nothing better than being obnoxiously overdressed.

C. Do you need me to whip up a door sign for you?

I guess I'm going to have to get a few folders to try out... and some cubes. I LOVE packing and talking about packing! :upsidedow

I'm sure you'll come up with something - keep it simple, we tend to overthink and want to say too much when I think the kids really aren't thinking about it as much as we think they are, they probably won't even give a second thought to an extra box in the room :)

We are surprising DD with Discovery Cove and that is hard enough to keep secret, but since she thinks we are going to Sea World that day, it really isn't too hard, I'm just so excited about it and can't talk about it. I am also surprising both my DD and DH with an upgrade to a veranda cabin instead of the inside I orginially booked. Yesterday DD was on the DCL website and wanted to know our cabin number, I almost gave her our actual cabin number, and had to quickly regroup and remember the inside cabin number we previously had :)

I'm going to check out the packing cubes - need something to occupy my time ;)

I'm sure you're right about that. I'll have a whole elaborate story to tell, and they'll end up not even noticing the box. LOL!

Good quick thinking!!

be verrrrrrry careful!! there are SO MANY cool packing accessories, and really cool pieces of luggage on-line, my head was spinning! Our luggage isn't old, so I can't justify getting any new, but boy it's tempting!! We were just at an outlet the other day, and there was a Samsonite store there :yay:, so I drag dh and the kids in, and show them the pieces I've seen on-line, and all the cool pockets, and things that snap in and out, and pockets, and more pockets... and I just get so excited! :woohoo: Not one of them got excited with me though , and my dh was even visibly annoyed after a little while. Needless to say, no new luggage. I'll have to go get some cubes and folders though, and that should be a good 'fix' for me! And I'm definitely going by myself! :snooty: to them all!

The place to get packing cubes is eBags. I recommend their own eBags brand, much less expensive and just as good as the Eagle brand.

Their prices are also better the Eagle folders, eBags does not have their own brand for those.
