11/04/06 Anyone Out There Yet?

Linda: my DD4 is a handful. She will be just a couple of months shy of 5 when we cruise and, therefore, we may try to get her into the 5-7 year old group in the kids club to be with DS6. As DD4 seems like she's going on 24, I have no doubt that she'll fit right in. As for my trip reports, I never did finish my 2005 trip report, but have promised myself I will do so before my family heads back down to WDW later this month. If only I can remember what we did those last few days.

I've also thought about trying to move DS4 into the 5-7 group with his brother (who will be almost 7). He is the size of a 7 year old so even though he's not as mature, he's the right size. He probably won't go to the club by himself so the only hope I have of a little peace is if he hangs with his brother (who he absolutely worships).

Does anyone know if the two age groups in the club can still hang together even though they're in different groups?

I'll have to look through the list and see who has a 4 year old I can try to get him to bond with. I seem to remember posting about this a while ago. But it's not like he can email beforehand so it will have to be onboard!!

As for trip reports...if you don't finish them right away, forget about it. You can never go back once too much time has gone by!! I wrote 2 reports last year but they were posted on Tour Guide Mike with his secrets so I couldn't post them on the DIS. I can't wait to write one for the cruise!!

Our little group has 2 cigar loving Dads. They really want to buy some Cubans on this trip. They will be smoking their cigars at any opportunity, love their scotch, too. Beers, also.

Hey Linda,

I've been talking to my 4 yo Nick about "Kevin" a new Disney friend. I figure if nothing else getting used to a new name (we don't know any Kevins) might help when he's around new kids in the club. I doubt I'll be able to move him up a group to be with his brother as he isn't very mature - he'll be turning four on the cruise and acts all of three and a half..... Did I see a post that you were planning a Dolphin excursion? Were you planning to take Kevin, and did you have to book directly to include a 4 yo?

Only three more months!!!!!!!

Hello!! I knew there was someone I had a conversation with for this little guy! And your son being Nick is a good thing b/c Kevin's friend up the block is Nicholas. Kevin just turned 4 last month so they are relatively close in age. Plus if your older son is playing with my other son, that might help the little ones feel more comfortable too.

We booked the dolphin swim with shoretrips.com. It will be me and my daughter and the men are supposed to come and watch. My boys would never get in the water with fish of any type. And this being our first cruise, DH does not want us separated in port from the kids or each other so they will go along as spectators. Not the best time for them but they are used to getting dragged around to each other's activities. Plus I don't want to spend the extra money on a dolphin encounter if they'll be too scared to enjoy it.

Hello to all the 11/4 cruisers!!

Jason:

Great job on the list!! Its hard to believe i started this thread many, many months ago, & if my calendar is correct tomorrow at 11:01 PM (central time), it will be the 90 day mark & we can start to book Palos & excursions. Please someone let me know if my calendar is off!! (lol) :rotfl2:

Glad to see the group is so big. Can't wait to meet everyone.

By the way, I forgot to ask... I know we have a big NJ group, but is anyone else going from Chicago? Or Illinois? Just trying to keep track.

For the guys watching football & the cigars, Bears fan here, do not smoke, but the beer part sounds great!!

Hope to hear from everyone soon!!

Me too! Mine doesn't pay until later this month-can't remember the date. This is our 2nd cruise & we made the Palo res on the ship last time. I would like to make it ahead of time if possible! :)

I have a DD who is 9. She loves the club & swimming, too. I will tell her about you. :)

I know they hold 1/2 of the Palo reservations open for the people who can't make them ahead of time. When you get on the ship get to those Palos lines right away & there should still be some reservations left. Good Luck!

I broke down and paid off the rest of the cruise. :faint: Therefore I was able to book at Palo's and register the kids for camp. I have to work out the dates and make sure I booked it the right night. I think Wed is Pirate night. I had originally booked dinner that night but then went back and changed it. There are still a few ressies left online.

Does anyone know if it's easy to change your dinner seating? I have late dining and am on the wait list for early dining. Has anyone changed this once on board???

I made our excursion reservations and a Palo Brunch reservation. Can't wait to eat at Palo, we didn't get there last year, so this will be our first time!!! :cool1:

I was able to make my Palo shore excursion ressies online (had everything I wanted). I booked on the 7th which I was suprised that things were left. I checked again on the 8th and many things were gone.

Our problem is that I was the only one out of our group of 18 to get our Palo ressies. When our friend went to book the next day the same time as us was gone and most of the other people have not cruised DCL so they have to wait until the 21st of August.

I think I will just add everyone to our Palo ressie once onboard.

Talking football and cocktails, hum let's see.....YES WE CAN DO THAT, if you don't mind that we wear our Steelers Jerseys. My DH only smokes cigars on occasion and if nobody else was interested he wouldn't smoke them, so it's no problem. He would much rather watch/talk football and have cocktails!!!

How about VA Tech/Miami game. That is SAT Nov 4th...we are travelling with 4 DS17's all planning to go to VA Tech next yest and about 8 adult alums from VA Tech.....so watch out for the HOKIE Orange first day of the cruise!!

Made a dinner reservation for Palos but couldn't get a brunch reservation. The only day and time they had was for 11:00 on Sunday. We plan on getting off the ship in Key West so didn't take it.

Looking forward to the trip. We are now making hotel reservations and car rental plans. Does anyone know of something to due in Cozumel or Grand Cayman on your own?

I just found this site and was considering it for our cozumel day if we don't do the Jeep Tour.
