love2travel...I'd say the tour was "ok". The tour guide was great because he knew so much about the island. We first stopped at the Governor's Mansion (I think that's what it was called). We were able to walk around the beach...that was it. WE were there probably around 15 minutes. We definitely should have worn sandles but I believe they suggested sneakers because we were going to be doing some walking. Staring at the beautiful water was too tempting to us. So of course we took off our shoes and went in. Then when we had to leave our feet were full of sand...not condusive to putting socks and shoes back on!
Next was a little place called "Hell". THe guide dropped us off in front of a gift shop situated next to a post office. We looked around the gift shop and left without a purchase. While we were sitting back on the van I decided to go look around. Lo and behold I found my way to why the place was called this. Behind the gift shop through a little entry way (why the tour guide did not bring us to) was an area of ashes. The tour guide NEVER brought us there nor did he explain anything to us.
Next stop...the turtle farm. This was fun. There were huge tanks of all different sized turtles. You were able to pick up the smaller ones and have everyone laugh as they started to flap around and freak you out. Down side to this is that you were only here for a short time.
Finally was the sting rays. The guide dropped us off at a boat and they took you out to a glass bottom boat. WE transported ourselves into the boat and watched the guide as he lured the sting rays to the boat. That whole part was probably an hour or so. The kids enjoyed it.
All in all it was a good tour...I felt some places we went to we were either rushed for time or we were there too long. It was a good tour to get a taste of the island and what they're known for. WE had never been there so we wanted to see what the island was like. We're "beach people" so I might like to do the seven mile beach..it looked beautiful!!
