101 Ways My Son Entertained Himself at WDW--The Last Day--New 11/18

I too fell asleep in the Nemo show. I really liked it but it was so well air conditioned and mellow in the theater that it just knocks you out! I think AK is a good park, but it's pretty much a 1/2 day park for us with prob no return for the rest of the trip. DH & I both agree dinosaur was OK (very loud) and way too jerky to stress going on it again. We do the safari first thing and just a few other things. We are planning on checking out a little more this trip since we didn't explore the trails much due to rain last time. It's def worth a go but I don't think its that exciting. "It's tough to be a bug" is GREAT!

That's not good. I don't want the kids (and hubby!) to fall asleep and be grouchy the rest of the day! :scared:
I've read that It's Tough to be a Bug is scarey for younger kids. My girls don't like to be scared AT ALL! What do you guys think?

I really want an inground pool, but that's not going to happen any time soon. So, since our porch is 10 steps down to our yard, we'll just butt it up to the deck and surround it with decking. My kids love to swim and in Texas, it's nice enough 8 months out of the year, really.

Thanks!
Yes, I think we were the only folks in our Ft Worth subdivision without a pool--but the homeowner nazis only allowed inground ones which were $$$.
The town has a big outdoor and indoor pool here which the teens go to every day so I think we will just let it ride and get more goats! :thumbsup2 :lmao:

It is dark and fake spiders come down. BA was sceered at 4ish. But at 10 and 14, we never miss it! :thumbsup2
Dinosaur is her favorite all time ride, but it sceers my SIL who can handle the biggest coasters at Six Flags! :confused3

Yes, the code thread has not been overly helpful--but they are predicting 10/22 so I will be on the alert! :thumbsup2 Truly hoping the rates will decrease as I have promised DH! (or free park hoppers like last year. He loves the park hopper idea)

More goats...Pool. Pool...More goats. Yeah, I'd go with pool. :rotfl2:
Our friends down the street (but up the hill so we can see their yard, of course!) have an above ground and they kids get all upset every time everyone else swims. "Mom! They're swimming! Can we go?" Then as I try to explain that we can't just go there whenever we want, they cry. :sad2: When we do go down, her kids get bored and we swim for hours. I hope that won't change once we get one. My plan is to get one off Craigslist and get a new variable depth liner. People are getting rid of them constantly down here for less than $1000.

My plan doesn't involve hopping, so I really hope for a discount. I have a pin, but no one knows what it is-if it's old, or for January, but not announced yet. So annoying... :scared:

Hey- puppy lady! I just was thinking about you this afternoon when I noticed that the black on the puppy is turning all brown. Is that normal?! It's weird. I thought he would look one way... but now he's looking like he'll be all brown? Weird.

Did you see my post on the Focker Watcher thread? We put in a doggie door hoping he'll go out it to go potty. So far, he's gone into the house while I stand alone outside saying, "Let's go potty! Come on! Let's go!" but not to go out to pee. :sad2: I also hit up the paint section for LGMHs...:cool2:

:rotfl2: You're welcom HSMama!

That's not good. I don't want the kids (and hubby!) to fall asleep and be grouchy the rest of the day! :scared:
I've read that It's Tough to be a Bug is scarey for younger kids. My girls don't like to be scared AT ALL! What do you guys think?

My little bro went on it when he was I think 7 and my 10 y/o cousin handled it well too. They're boys of course, so I wouldn't know about girls. :confused3

My hubby (who can't understand why I spend time on the DIS boards told me he read that I wrote that I wasn't sure he's very excited about the trip and he's wants me to change that. I have no idea how he found my thread or anything else, darn it! But apparently I was mistaken, and according to him, "I'm (being me-HSmama) certain that my DH is so gung-ho about this trip that it sickens me and that likelihood that he will act like a complete immature child is very great." :scared: :sad2:
So there you have it--straight from Homeschool Daddy. He also warned me that I should buy him a harness or he may just run off screaming like a fool once we get to the first park. I may never see him again... then who would pay for the next trip?! :confused3

Finding the balance between rides and learning is going to be the hard part for me at AK and Epcot. We'll get it though... :) Even rides like TT are really educational :thumbsup2

What about HSMama? Is that too long? :confused3
I'd be interested to hear what you thought was and wasn't worth it at AK, Jo. :)
We're going for HS, yes :goodvibes We love AK, my girls love the rapids, Jess likes EE we all like the shows, not Pocohontas though!!! Didn't really like planet watch, a bit boring oh and bugs life scared them to death so we didn't even go on Dinosaur :rotfl2:

But I doubt I'd be able to get CRT and Le Cellier at this point.
You never know, people are always canceling!

(of course, then my family would say "hurry up--we're gonna miss our FP time to EE!!!):lmao:
Oh that's me :rotfl2:

So you are boating back to POR? Do you know how much time that takes? (I have no clue)
We did it loads, it's nice and relaxing takes about 20 - 30 minutes!

Really? I wanted to find Nemo.... Was it more for little ones?
I think David and I enjoyed it more than the girls, don't sit near the front though, David may or maynot have shed a tear :rotfl2:

Why thankyou

I said above my girls hated it in 2005, they were 7 & 9, and refused to do it this year!

He also warned me that I should buy him a harness or he may just run off screaming like a fool once we get to the first park. I may never see him again... then who would pay for the next trip?! :confused3

Hmmm... Maybe I should check out switching everything?

So, this is the big weekend. The days I would work on all these projects I wanted to get done for the trip. I haven't felt like doing anything, but I knew I had told all 5 of you :lmao: that I would post pics and report, and didn't want to let you down, of course. So, here's part 1. Tonight when the kids go to bed, hubby's helping me with a few more things,
so I'll post those tomorrow or Monday, deal? :thumbsup2
Memory Boxes:
My kids are really big on collecting things. So I knew when I saw these, that memory boxes would be a great way for the kids to keep the things that were special to them from the trip in one place. I bought the larger boxes, so they could put small toys, etc in them. I just used scrapbooking stickers and paper for these.

A's shirts and jacket:
I just bought Walmart shirts and a hoodie, then ironed on the characters I got from the Disney Store. I bought the iron-ons for $6.50 originally, but they went on clearance recently for about $.50! I thought these were a cheap way to get nicer shirts for A to wear to TS meals.

C's dress:
I bought this cute jumper today on clearance at Walmrt. It was originally $13 but was $8.50 today. Same thing- iron-ons from the Disney Store... I love the little ruffle it has at the bottom of the jumper.

Walmart also has some new skirts that come with tights, shirts (not a fan of the shirts), and jackets that have cheetah accents/ruffles. They would be cute for the AK. You'll see tomorrow that it won't work for what I'm planning for the AK Day. popcorn::

So, don't tell me you can't do things! Embrace your laziness or lack of knowledge, like me, and figure out what you can do! Sure, I wish I could just buy cute Boutique clothing on eBay, but I can't afford that. So, here are a few of my solutions. Enjoy!

just wanted to say 'hi' to homeschool mama (from the origina hsmama:thumbsup2 )- been reading your posts- you are very amusing! we'll be at WDW from Jan5 onward- if I see another hsmama and co. in the parks,I'll holler hi!

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by and saying "hello"! Maybe we will see you there! :wizard:

OK deal :thumbsup2

Love the memory boxes and the cute clothes :goodvibes

:confused3 A jumper is a sweater not a dress  I'm only kidding I read somewhere else that you call dresses Jumpers, oh my this language stuff is confusing :rotfl2:

Thank you!
It is weird how the languages are so different. The "jumper" refers to the jeans material part that kind-of looks like overalls. :)

Eeek! :scared1: We ran out of black thread last night, so the projects to be posted today were delayed. I will post them as soon as we can get them done.

I don't sew at all, but my hubby used to work in a tux shop and had to do alterations. Lucky for me, he is sweet enough to volunteer to sew the edges of the shirts I have been making. So, I 'm kind of at his mercy as to when he gets them done. I think if I get the thread today, he will most likely finish tonight. But I'm no fool. If he's tired, I'm not going to push him! He's my sugar daddy! :lmao:
