Hi..we just got back from our FTP at Wildnerness Lodge Villas..we had a 1BR Ressie..upgraded to a 2BR. We loved it! It was wonderful! My dh asked me to get a little more info on the DVC.
I want to thank everyone in this forum for all the great information it made our vacation wonderful.

As I wrote above, my dh is interested as I in DVC. I have read alot of information and at this point my eyes are getting crossed.

I just have a few questions..if someone can answer I would appreciate it!

* Not sure whether this is true or not..I heard that if you become a DVC member you get theme park tickets for the first 5 years?
Is this true..please don't laugh at me if it isn't.

* If we do become a DVC members...saying we would like to stay at a 2BR WLV or other resorts that have a 2BR available. Can you buy just the minuium 150 points and I buy/rent the other points from other DVC members to qualify for the Villas?

*We have small children and I really interested in getting a Villa that is similar to WLV where I can jump on the ferry that goes directly to MK. I am not sure of all the resorts that do this..

I have a billion other question but, I am just basically looking for the simply load down information.

Thanks for help.

**There were park passes the first few years DVC was in existance, but no more.

**If you buy only 150 points, it will depend on which time of year you want to travel, and then you would be best off banking and borrowing and go every other year instead of every year. Renting plus buying would seem like a double cost.

**I suggest a resale from the timeshare store of a WLV contract. It is the only one close to the MK.

Okay,

I'll try to answer the best I can.

You can buy into DVC with a minimum of 150 pts. You can use these pts to stay at any of the DVC resorts. You can book at your "home" resort 11 months in advance and the others at 7 months out.

You will get your set of pts each year. We have an April use year so we get ours every April. You can bank points into the following year and borrow pts from the upcoming year so at any given time you could vacation with 450 pts if you buy 150.

VWL is sold out but that doesn't mean you would never be able to stay there. We reserved a 1br at VWL for 6 nts only 2 months out from the reservation for this October.

We happen to own at VWL, VB, BCV and soon to be SSR.

SSR may be the only thing that is available. You may want to call and check on the status of what other resorts are available. DVC is offering some nice incentives right now to purchase SSR.

Park tickets are no longer available for joining DVC but members do get a discount on LOS passes.

You would have to put down 10% to buy in and if you buy SSR payments would not start until next year-assuming you finance through Disney. You can finance for as much as ten years but we chose a much shorter time than that to avoid a lot of interest.

You should be able to get some more information at disneyvacationclub.com.

The system is based on pts so you can look at the points charts, see when you travel, decide what size room you want to stay in and that should tell you how many points you need.

Have you made the initial call to DVC yet? Our guide is Jim McCoy and he is wonderful, very helpful, patient. He will explain DVC inside and out and let you make the decision. He is great at returning phone calls.

Purchasing DVC is one of the best things we ever did. Just ask if you have any more questions. :D

We also have two small children and wanted the convenience of VWL and purchased a resale this past spring. Many people on these boards will tell you buy where you want to stay the most and that is great advice. Although you can make a non home resort reservation at the seven month window you may end up on the waitlist depending on the time of year. We actually transferred points from a BCV member into our account to be able to have the 11 month window to make BCV reservations for spring break.

Our guide was also Jim McCoy and although we ended up buying a resale he was available and answered all of our questions. We did end up using him for our add on.

Just wanted to welcome you to DIS and best of luck on your decision to purchase. Take it from someone who knows! Buy sooner than later. Our only regret is not buying in prior to 2002! Ask as many questions as you think you will need to make your decision. There are A LOT of knowledgeable people on this board. Annmarie

Only if you bought in 92 would you have gotten any free passes.Take a look at how many points a 2bedroom is before thinking you will have a 2bedroom every year with the 150 points. If your thinking about becoming a member then go for the new 50 year deal at the Saratoga Springs.

We own at WLV and love it! I will say this, wherever you buy, it will become your 2nd home.
Im not sure if DVC has any more WLV contracts but it would be worth a try to see if any are available. I know a few mos. ago they were buying back resales and offering those pts for sale.

We initially purchased 170 pts and did a addon of 50 more before our first trip home. Buy what you reall think you will need. Because of the flexibility of DVC, we will be staying in a 2 bed at WLV soon. This is something we never thought possible with the pts we own. Because of banking and borrowing it is possible though. We used 80 pts last Dec from 220 pts available then banked the rest. With 140 banked pts and some from this use year we WILL be able to stay for a week at a 2 bed after all. And we still have pts left to bank or make another trip if we want in this use year. Flexibility is the name of the DVC game. My point is buy those pts you need.

WLV is closest DVC resort to MK. BWV and BCV are easily accessible to Epcot and MGM. OKW is close to DD and can reach by boat to that area.

You should check resales. They would probably offer WLV for sure.

Dont wait and procrastinate like we and so many others did, prices dont go down. Good luck and hope to be welcoming yall home real soon!
