10 points short-- can you use another resort?

We are doing a small add-on, with the thought we can use the points every 3rd year (banking and borrowing) to use an 11 month window for a week trip.

We typically travel in October, and signed up for our add-on based on those point requirements, but my DH asked whether our plan would work if we wanted to travel another time of year? What if you are "slightly short" of those resort points (less than 1/2 of 1 day)?

As a simple example, if we wanted to stay 5 nights at BCV (at 40 points a night), but only have 190 BCV points (but other points at another resort), can we supplement 10 other points to make our BVC reservation at the 11 month window? Or would we have to only make 4 nights, and book the last at the 7 month window.

You wouldn't be able to use the other resort's points @ the 11 month window (ok @ 7 months though).

You could buy/transfer points from another member (same UY or better for 11 month window).

Did you add on thru DVC or resale? If thru DVC, why not add on enough points you'd actually need & bank any leftover?

You cannot use your other points to book that last day at BCV until the 7 month window.

Now, there have been so many posts about people who have had transfers into an account. Those transfers haven't kept the "home" they came from but assumed the home of the account they were transferred into. That would work in your favor, since you WANT more BCV points. I've never transferred, this is all hearsay and not the way the system is SUPPOSED to work.

If you are purchasing from Disney, I would buy an extra 5 points or whatever it takes with banking and borrowing to have enough points to book a stay in the next point category up. That way, you will have the points if you decide to go at another time. If not, you can bank the extra points.
