10-Oct-2009 - Eastern Magic St. Croix

Any idea on what time the Rum Adventure will begin??? Any thoughts???
I'd also like to go in the morning. Has anyone else noticed that they changed their website? When I looked last month I recall seeing a tab for tours and that children were allowed. Now when I look, I can't see the tours information. Which makes me slightly nervous that they aren't doing tours anymore. I guess I could email them...

eta - found this website http://www.frommers.com/destinations/stcroixusvi/A22826.html which indicates that there are tours from 9 to 11:30 and 1 to 4:15.

Hi! I have a daughter who will be 9 in November. We've been on 2 Disney Wonder cruises before but have never used the kids' club. She's very suspicious that we're going to try to "dump" her (I know that sounds bad, and I'm not sure why she feels that way. She's an only child that normally gets included in everything we do, and I think that makes her think that it's not normal for her to do activities on her own. It's kind of funny that she's so suspicious!), so if she could meet some buddies, I think that would really help. We're going to visit the kids' club the first night. My daughter's name is Lauren. We have the late dinner seating (another first and I'm not happy) so we'll probably stop by pretty late. If you'd like to meet up earlier, we'll definitely be at the Goofy pool first thing after boarding! Just let me know!

My DS is 9 and I can't get him to leave the kids club. They do so many fun things to do. As long as your DD doesn't think boys are icky, they could totally meet up. We're also late dinner seating so we'll see you there. Just look for my DH's shirt that says "I'm on a boat" the first day and say hi.

You want to beat the cruise excursions to Maagens Bay. 2 years ago, we got off the ship around 10ish and went directly to Maagens Bay. We were there a couple of hours and there weren't too many people there. But around lunch time, it started to get busier and I think we left around 1. When we left, it was getting super busy.

I agree with doing Magen's Bay early. We too have seen it get pretty crowded in the afternoon.

How many other ships are at port with us in St. Thomas? Maybe it won't be too bad?

12 days to go to the Magic :cool1::cool1::cool1::banana::banana::banana:

11 days to go until we leave for MCO Hyatt :cool1::cool1::cool1::banana::banana::banana:

9 working days to go to the Magic :cool1::cool1::cool1::banana::banana::banana:

I'd like to be getting off the boat around 10 am. It's Pirate Night that evening so would like to be back on the ship around 3ish.

Does 10 am work for everyone? We can meet at the Promenade Lounge that AM and then make our way from there?

that sounds like a good time to me, i dont intend on sleeping more than 6-7 hours a night seeing as how this if my first vacation in a while and my frist cruise...i can sleep when im back on land!!

does anyone else see the good times that tuesday is going to be....the rum take over, followed by pirates night where the rum will continue to be everywhere.....

just remember we are taking over the rum...not letting the rum take us over!?:cool1:

Is anyone that is planning on going to the rum distillery planning on seeing much more of the island. I want to go but know that the rest of my crew wants to see some of the island since we have not been there. Any word on distance from the ship and taxi prices? I am just trying to figure out our day.

We would have the kids with us as well because we want to leave straight from there and tour the island. I am worried about time. However, our kids are ages 7-12 so hopefully they will be okay.

I had read the tour was short, so I assumed that we'd still be able to do a beach day. I was wondering about the timing too, as we were planning to do the rum tour, then go to the beach with the kids. Would be easier if we brought our kids with us too. I don't want to spoil the adults fun though. Our older kids are 4 and 6, they typically entertain themselves (and their younger sister) quite easily. We could split off and do a separate tour.

:rotfl::rotfl: I busted out laughing at "not letting the rum take us over". We will have to pace ourselves, for sure.

As far as seeing more of the island, I'm playing it by ear. Going to hit up the rum thing and see what we can do from there. If anything, we'll find a bar on a beach and just chill. The goal is to chill!

And to name your artist, nope, had to Google it. Kenny Chesney...I don't really listen to country. :-)

We have 10 days before we fly to FL. Was looking at the calendar this morning and realized I have to start the Packing Challenge 2009 this weekend so that means the washing machine and dryer are going to be worked overtime the next few days. I hope I don't discover DS doesn't have any clothes, he likes to surprise me before vacations that he's outgrown what is in his closet. :scared1:

Sarina, my 9 year old would love to meet Lauren. She likes the kids club but does like to know someone beforehand.

We are scuba diving in the morning but should be done by noon, plan to do a quick lunch and then are hiring a cab for 2-3 hours to drive around the island; we were told that 3 hours will be about $60 for both of us (not per person) and we WILL be stopping for our fill of rum at the rum factory (sorry we can't join the morning group, that would be really fun!). I think we are also looking to just hire a private taxi at St. Thomas & do the same thing for a few hours jsut so we can go at our pace and see what we want to see for as long or as short as we want to.

I know people want to be back early for Pirate night; what time do those festivities start? We have late dinner seating.

I love having a title!!:cheer2:

You gotta listen to that song!!! Its Kenny & Uncle Cracker! Im all over the board with music...I gotta be, I have a teen...you can relate.:cool1:

We were thinking about renting a car and driving around ourselves in St. Croix. There are 8 of us and I think cab fare to individual places will add up. We have never rented a cab for a tour. I wonder if we can get a driver with a van to take us around and how much a few hours would be for 8 people. That would be a great option. Do you wait until you get to the dock? How do you know which one will be reliable?
