Tony's next
That ooey gooey toffee cake looks so yummy! Can't wait for more reviews!
The cake was good..just really sweet
I love your review, but darn, reading it makes me hungry! :lmao:

Writing it makes ME hungry!

Well, I was very excited to try Tony's Town Square. I had read some so-so reviews on it but I loved the idea that it was themed to Lady and the Tramp. We were also quite excited because we all enjoy pasta and WDW does not offer a whole lot of pasta on any of their menu's
I had tried to go to Tony's Town Square last year, on our honeymoon, but I came down with a really bad flu the last 2 days of the trip and we had to cancel our ADR and we missed out so this year a made the ressie on the very first day so I made sure that we got there!!
Tony's is the first restaurant that you come to when walking into MK. It's located on the right side of main street right beside the camera shop. Before my addiction to the DIS boards started I didn't even know that this restaurant was there.

093.jpg

I love the little details on this restaurant especially the Lady & the Tramp paw prints outside (they're kind of hard to see in this picture)
1042.jpg

Our reservation was for 730 pm and we checked in a bit early and we were seated right on time. I was kind of hoping to be seated by the fountain in main dining room but we passed by it on our way to our beautiful table in the solarium.
095.jpg

It was absolutely gorgeous sitting in the solarium as the sun was going down and the lights were coming on Main Street (here's the view form our table)
101.jpg

100.jpg

There was also some really nice soft music playing in the background and the room was surprisingly quiet.
Service was decent here. When we first arrived at the table there was a great celebration surprise waiting for Mulan:
096.jpg

We kept all the confetti, divvied it up and put it in our plastic holder on our lanyards for the rest of the trip. That way we had pixie dust with us no matter where we were! Service felt a little bit rushed at times. A few of us were not done our appetizers before our entrees were brought out to us, but
you can't say that they were not quick :)
Now onto the meals:
099.jpg

The bread that you get at your table
108.jpg

For an Italian restaurant we were all in agreement that the bread was not that good and there was no fresh pepper in the olive oil.

Mulan

Drink Mulan got the specialty Tinkerbell glass with raspberry light and lemonade $4.99 OOP
102.jpg

(the Cars cup is Stitch's) The little light up Tink and lightening McQueen are really cute and I had one from last year and it still works. They're great for finding each other during the fireworks and they are REALLY bright. Just ask the people who rode the buses home with us at night!

Appetizer Caesar Salad
"Romaine lettuce topped in Caesar dressing topped with Romano cheese and croutons"
$5.49
104.jpg

The salad was a good portion but there were not enough croutons

Entree New York Strip Steak
"...with a red wine butter, roasted potatoes, and seasonal vegetables"
$27.99
110.jpg

Mulan thought that the steak was just okay, She had it cooked medium well and it may have been a bit too pink for her. She thought that the potatoes had no flavor and were overcooked and the green beans were rubbery.

Dessert

Pistachio Creme Brulee
$5.99
116.jpg

Mulan called this dessert "really good" She is normally a chocolate fan and this was her first time trying Creme Brulee. She would try it many times throughout the trip but time and again she felt that this was the best.

Rating
***1/2 out of 5 (she gave an extra point for her birthday celebration at the table)

Donald

Drink Diet Coke

Appetizer Caesar salad
Donald was not crazy about the Caesar salad at all. He said he liked Olive Garden's salad much better.

Entree
New York Strip Steak
Donald liked the steak but also found the potatoes dry and the green beans cold and rubbery.

Dessert A sweet ending to your celebration...Tiramisu
"Expresso-soaked lady fingers, whipped mascarpone, and dark chocolate shavings"
$5.49
117.jpg

Donald thought this was "awesome" He had never had Tiramisu before and the waitress was really good at describing it and he was really pleased that he listened to her recommendation.

Tink

Drink Coffee

Appetizer Caesar Salad
Tink describes this as one of the best Caesar salads she has ever had and she said that the dressing was excellent.

Entree New York Strip Steak
The steak was excellent "melt in your mouth" but the beans were cold and rubbery.

Dessert Chef's Signature Cheesecake
Canolli Cheesecake
$5.49
114.jpg

This was definitely the cutest dessert on the menu. We loved the chocolate powder lady & the tramp (we almost lost the cheesecake off the plate taking pictures of it) but the actual cheesecake was terrible. It was VERY bitter and did not taste like cheesecake at all.

Rating
****1/2 out of 5 (higher rating because of the chocolate lady and the tramp)

Mickey

Drink Light Lemonade

Appetizer Mixed Greens
"...tossed in our house dressing topped with feta and croutons"
$5.49
105.jpg

He of course asked for it with no feta and no dressing so what can you really say about a hunk of lettuce? He said it was "good"

Entree Chicken Parmigiana
"Lightly-breaded chicken breast with marinara sauce topped with melted mozzarella over spaghetti"
$16.99
109.jpg

This is a super big portion but it was really tasty and it was served hot.

Dessert Lemon Walnut Layer Cake
"Layered vanilla cake filled with lemon curd"
$5.49
115.jpg

This was also a huge portion..it looked like a quarter of the cake. He said it was definitely enouigh for two to share if need be and that it wasn't too sweet.

Stitch

Drink Cars souvenir raspberry light lemonade

Appetizer Calamari
"topped with olive relish and served with a side of marinara sauce"
$9.99
106.jpg

There were a lot of calamari on this plate and Stitch was VERY happy...the olive relish, which stitch called 'salsa' was also really good.

Entree Grilled Pork Tenderloin
"with goat cheese and basil mashed potatoes with Marsala and mushroom sauce"
$18.99
111.jpg

This was also a fair sized portion. Stitch said the pork was tender and delicious and the mashed potatoes were very good. Obviously the moral of this story is to get the mashed and not the roasted potatoes.

Dessert Tiramisu
Stitch described this as smooth and flavorful and awesome.

Morgy827

Drink Diet Coke

Appetizer Tomato and Mozzarella Salad
"Tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil and a balsamic dressing"
$8.69
107.jpg

This was good but I found that there were too many tomatoes compared to the amount of mozzarella. Also there were only 2 tiny little onions and I would have liked more. If felt like I was being served tomatoes and that was it. The bread was very good though.

Entree
Shrimp Scampi
"Linguini with Sun-dried tomatoes and asparagus tossed in a Garlic sauce"
$16.99
112.jpg

This was my first time ever ordering shrimp scampi so I did not know what o expect. I found it rather tasteless. The linguini was cold and the shrimp had a very strong smoky flavor. I ended up leaving most of it on my plate and I was thankful I had eaten so many tomatoes or I would have been awfully hungry.

Dessert
Pistachio Creme Brulee
This was, by far, the best part of the meal. It was an excellent creme brulee and my rating increased by 1 point because of this dessert.

Overall, we would probably not return to Tony's. It has a great atmosphere and excellent desserts but the rest was just so-so. It would be a great place for coffee and dessert if it was not so hard to get a last minute table. We found that the menu had a pretty poor selection and very little choice for pasta dishes. One thing about Tony's was that because the service was so fast we were in and out in about an hour and fifteen minutes. SO for those people who think you spend your whole time eating when you choose TS's this shows you that it's comparable to a CS (by the time you order, find a table, etc).

Overall Rating

Cost 6 DP credits 10.62 OOP

Actual Cost (not including OOP charges) $244.30

Well with Day 1 complete I though I would total up to see how we did in comparison to the cost of the DxDDP. I can only find a receipt for one bottle of water ($2.50) for this day although I'm sure we must have had something else.

Total cost for DxDDP for 6 adults: $431.94

Total OOP gratuity: $94.95

Total cost of meals & snacks: $635.32 (includes refillable mugs)

Total price difference between cost of dining plan and actual costs:
$107.43 for us

Loving this review! It was actually your review of CP that made me convince DBF that we HAVE to do a buffet/character b-fast at Disney! Looking fwd to more :woohoo:

Thanks a lot for those excellent reviews! I have never eaten at Tony's and after your review I feel like I really don't need to try it. :goodvibes Looking forward to day 2!

I was actually looking forward to your Tony's review because it is one of the restaurants we wanted to try & it really does get some mixed reviews. I think that even though you guys were not loving it, the pictures of the beautiful surroundings & the photos of the food have made me decide to at least give it a try! We've done LTT & CP quite a bit so Tony's will be a new experience. Thanks for the review! :thumbsup2

Thank you once more for taking the time to post such a wonderfully descriptive and beautifully photographed report! I know how much time and effort (and hard work) has to be put into something like this, so please know that it's truly appreciated. Thanks again!

Thanks for the review of Tony's we are eating there for the first time in two weeks:goodvibes

GovieMom, you took the words out of my mouth. I really appreciate all your hard work on this TR.

I think the restaurant looks beautiful. The Lady & The Tramp touches from the fountain to the dessert make the place special.

The food doesn't excite me, although I've never met a steak I didn't like....LOL
I would be willing to give it a try.

Great job!! :)

The steak was fabulous according to Tink and I think that the atmosphere alone is reason enough to try Tony's

Enjoy it!!

Love the report so far. Can't wait to see more.:thumbsup2
Hopefully tomorrow there will be a review up

When we were choosing our restaurants a lot of the places we chose had mixed or poor reviews. I appreciated everyone's opinion but I wanted to make my own reviews. A bad dining review did not change my decision to go to a certain place it just led me in a direction that would allow me to choose the best meal possible. It worked out pretty well. SOme of the places that usually get fabulous reviews will be getting poor reviews from us. To each their own. The experience is worth it in my mind.

Thanks a lot for those excellent reviews! I have never eaten at Tony's and after your review I feel like I really don't need to try it. :goodvibes Looking forward to day 2!
Day 2 coming up!!
