10 Delicious Days of Deluxe Dining..Day5-Yachtmans Steakhouse-was it worth 2 credits?

We are going to try for breakfast ressies this trip. We have never been to CRT and I think we need to try it at least once.

Love the pictures. Keep them coming! :thumbsup2

It was yummy!

Great update! I agree about there not being enough options for breakfast. We tried lunch for the first time in April, and now I'll only go during lunch. It's not all-you-can-eat, but at least I was able to choose what I wanted.;) The ambiance in the castle is nice, isn't it?:)

I'm looking forward to more of your great reviews!:)
Yeah, not a great selection but I would like to try dinner or lunch. I don't mind that it's not all you can eat but I can't say the same for Stitch

We have yet to dine at CRT. One day! :)

Too bad you didn't get a third photo.

I never knew they gave out wands & swords, very neat!

Great review! :thumbsup2
Yeah, usually the swords and wands are only for kids but Stitch is just a big kid so we got one!

I just adore your reviews! You're doing such a great job! Silly Disney rule about the pictures. When the rules defy common sense it's time to change them! LOVE that you got wands and swords-- I'd want a wand too! ::yes:: And what a view from your table! Your review has me wanting to give CRT a try! :thumbsup2
I agree about the rules. We also encounter the same problem at Akershus. I think that they should offer you 1 pose for couple. It's only fair. Next time I would probably try to split up the reservation if we went in such a large group.

Just joining in but I'm really enjoying your reviews. I like the different viewpoints and your pics are great!! Thanks so much for doing all this work just to share with us other maniac disers!
THanks!! Glad you're enjoying yourself

Thanks for that review!! I thought about doing a CRT 8:05 ADR for our next trip but I think I'll stick with lunch. We did it this past March trip and loved lunch. Breakfast looks good but we like more variety at breakfast!
Yeah, I think lunch would be a better choice. Maybe next time for us.

Great review! Can't wait to read the rest. I think we are doing Deluxe when we go in August.
Get hungry now!

Another fabulous review, I really enjoy reading your rep:banana:ort!!

The last time we did CRT was in 2004 for DD 12th birthday and my 40th!!! It was great to see the princesses but now that DD is older it's not a must do anymore for us;)

I can't wait to hear where your fav breakfast place was, we have our last day to book and I would LOVE a breakfast as all our ADR's are for dinner:confused3
Ahhh, we had a few faves for breakfast but one that really stood out...and it'll probably surprise you...stay tuned to find out.

I'm just really enjoying reading your reviews and am anxiously waiting your next review (make it soon!!! :goodvibes ).

I agree with your reviews on the CRT breakfast. The castle is beautiful, the ambiance is magical, the character interaction is great, the food is good for a Disney meal though limited in choices, but totally worth it to do it at least once. We really liked the fruit, french toast, and sausages. The only downer about it all was it was expensive and we paid OOP. Lucky you were on the DxDP.

Please write another review SOON...oh, I said that already ;)

CRT is definately expensive for breakfast for what you get...CP is a much better deal at MK. And don't worry, another review will be up by tomorrow.

Jusst finding your review and can't wait to read more! I really like how you are giving everyones opinions!! How nice of themn tolay along and entertain us!

Thanks for the review! It was interesting to read a review from a group of adults. I have been thinking often about trying the castle, but never could really justify the price...

wonderful reviews!!
thanks

Welcome

Thanks for the review! It was interesting to read a review from a group of adults. I have been thinking often about trying the castle, but never could really justify the price...
It's really hard to find a review with just adults. I know I looked when my Husband and I went on our honeymoon and they were pretty hard to find.

Well, after we left CRT we rode COP at MK for my mom and caught the new Celebration parade. I have to say it was pretty fun, Mulan really liked the streamers. We then headed over to Epcot for the rest of the day. We knew it would be busy because it was evening EMH so we just planned on riding a few rides and heading over to our 6pm ADR for Chefs De France
Look you we saw on the way...

We arrived at the France pavilion and walked around for a bit. I think it's one of my favorite pavilions. It's themed so well and is especially beautiful at the F&G festival.

DSC02163.jpg

We checked in at the restaurant about 1/2 hour early and we were seated right away. I was hoping to be able to get in early because I knew that Remy only appeared until 6pm. We were seated at a beautiful corner table in the solarium overlooking the walkway outside and world showcase lagoon. It would be a really great seat during Illuminations. We found that the tables were quite close together here and the aisle way was very small. The waiters had to serve from the doorway to the solarium and when Remy did come by it was really squished.

DSC02193.jpg

Service was excellent here. Our waiter was from Morocco and he explained where he was from and what Morocco is famous for and where it is located. I thought that was a nice touch. They always said 'sir' or 'madam' and I wrote down that he was cute but unfortunately I don;t have a photo. We found that the courses were spaced out a bit better than at the other restaurants. I enjoyed being able to finish my appetizer before my entree was brought out and then they waited until the entree dishes were cleared before they brought the dessert menu. It was a nice change to be able to enjoy the meal instead of feeling rushed through. I've written down that the service was so good that we did not mind having to tip the automatic 18% at all. This is true for all the restaurants that we went to (except one) in WDW. I think, even if the gratuity was not automatic, I would have tipped the same if not more at some places.
Speaking of Remy....in between the appetizer and entree course Remy appeared with Armand. They were fabulous and stopped at every table to chat (or chat as well as Remy can) Armand was hilarious and played the part very well. Remy was so cute and danced the can can for us. It's a great addition to the restaurant and it does not interrupt your meal as much as the other characters do during a character meal. The only complaint that we have is that Remy should be there later than 6pm. The restaurant didn't really even get bust until about 7pm so a lot of people miss out on seeing him. It's worth it to make and early reservation so you don't miss him if you are going before September ( I think that's when he leaves).

Now, to the meals:
Bread
I though I had taken a picture of it but I guess I forgot.
Mulan and Donald both did not like the bread but the rest of us realy enjoyed it. It tasted like freshly baked rolls and I don;t quite know what could be wrong with it but to each their own.

Mulan
Drink Diet Coke

Appetizer
Bisque de Homard (Lobster Bisque )
$6.95
DSC02180.jpg

This was a new try for Mulan you had vowed to be adventurous and try new things this trip. She found the bisque way too fishy for her taste (fishy in a bad way...like fake lobster)

Entree
Plat de cotes de boeuf au cabernet avec pates
" Beef short ribs braised in cabernet with pasta, pearl onions, and mushrooms"
$28.95
DSC02183.jpg

Mulan found her short ribs very fatty. She found that the sauce had too much of a wine taste to it again even though we told her that it would. She also found the pasta tasteless and cold.

Dessert
Creme Brulee
"Vanilla Creme Brulee served with a madeline"
$7.25
DSC02189.jpg

This was not Mulan's favorite Creme Brulee. We were expecting something great at a 'French' restaurant but the custard was very plain tasting with no flavor. The coating also tasted burnt instead of caramelized and it had no sweetness to it at all. The fruit on the top was also much too sweet and tasted strongly of alcohol.

Rating

**1/2 out of 5 (this is increased by 1 point due to the great service and that they sung her Happy Birthday in French)

Donald

Drink Diet Coke

Appetizer
Soupe a l'oignon gratinee
"French onion soup topped with Gruyere cheese"
$6.50
DSC02178.jpg

Now we were expecting a fabulous french onion soup. I had heard nothing but rave reviews on the DIS boards and I recommended it to everyone based on those reviews. Donald did not like it however. He found that there was hardly any onion in the soup. It was mostly broth. He also found that there was too much bread on top.

Entree
Beef Short Ribs
Donald found the short ribs very tender. Also, he does not like mushrooms so he asked f the mushrooms could be left out of his entree. The waiter proceeded to tell us that all of the entrees are pre-made and that the mushrooms could not be taken out. This was not a very flattering thing to say for the restaurant. Also when Donald did get his meal the mushrooms were sitting on top if the ribs in a little pile and could obviously have been removed very easily. It was the only negative to the service at this r4estaurant. It would also be something that Donald brought up restaurant after restaurant throughout the trip. He also said that the pasta did nothing for the meal.

Dessert
Crepe a la pomme et canelle, glace vanille, caramel jus de pommes
"Crepe filled with cinnamon, apple, vanilla ice cream and apple caramel sauce"
$7.25
DSC02188.jpg

Donald said this was really good but that the fruit was really sweet and tasted like it was soaked in alcohol.

Tink

Drink Diet Coke

Appetizer
French onion soup

Tink was not impressed with the soup either and said she would not come back for it. She also found that the soup was not hot at all.

Entree
Filet de boeuf grille, sauce au poivre noir Gratin Dauphinois et harocits verts
"Grilled tenderloin of beef with black pepper sauce, original potato gratin of savoy and green beans"
$34.95
DSC02184.jpg

The tenderloin was cooked really well and it was tasty but the potatoes were rubbery and too rich. They were sickening after a few bites. Also, Tink was really sick of green beans already...this was the third meal in a row where her entree contained green beans.

Dessert
Creme Brulee
Tink enjoyed this and said it was just perfect. She did not find it too sweet but, again, she is not a sweets person, so it was right for her.

Mickey
Drink Diet Coke (they did not have light lemonade here)

Appetizer
French onion soup
He said it was just good, nothing outstanding.

Entree
Beef Tenderloin
The beef was excellent. Very tender and done too perfection. The potatoes were much too cheesy and rich for his liking. The beans were also overcooked and tasteless.

Dessert

Profiteroles au chocolat
"Puff choux with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce"
$7.25
DSC02190.jpg

Well, after a hilarious attempt to pronounce this selection to the waiter Mickey ended up really enjoying this dessert. He said it was not too sweet and it was a very large portion.

Stitch
Drink Diet Coke

Appetizer
Cassolette d'escargots de Bourgogne au beurre persille
"Casserole of Burgundian escargots baked in parsley and garlic butter"
$10.95
DSC02182.jpg

Stitch enjoyed these and said they were good but that they were a little tough and slightly chewy. I tried them (which was like an episode of Fear Factor for me) and I thought they were okay. They tasted mostly like the garlic sauce that they were baked in and I enjoyed them until I started thinking about the fact that I had a snail in my mouth.

Entree
Beef Tenderloin
The Beef was good, very tender and prepared correctly. The beans were very dry. The potatoes had a very rich, cheesy taste but stitch enjoyed them

Dessert
Assiete de sorbet du jour
"Daily assortment of fresh sorbets"
$7.25
DSC02191.jpg

The assortment today was raspberry, strawberry and kiwi. the kiwi was very different tasting but good. They were delicious and light and not too sweet. The little pastry that came with it was really cute too.

Morgy827

Drink Diet Cke and a really nice glass of Cabernet Sauvigon which I thought was very reasonable priced at $5.95 (OOP)

Appetizer
Salade au bleu
"Romaine hearts, blue cheese dressing, bacon walnuts, croutons"
$7.25
DSC02179.jpg

I love blue cheese so I was really excited to try this salad however, the salad was really dry,. There was hardly any dressing on it at all and the dressing that was on it did not taste like blue cheese.

Entree
Beef Short Ribs
Again, like Mulan, I found that the ribs were quite fatty. The meat that was on the ribs was very good though and I really enjoyed the Cabernet sauce (I like wine though). There was way too much pasta served with the meal and it was quite tasteless and cold. It did nothing fr the meal at all. I think the entree would have been better with a potato dish on the side instead of the pasta.

Dessert
Creme Brulee
The custard was a little plain but still tasty but the top layer was definitely not done right. It was much too thin and it was burnt tasting instead of being sweet and crispy.

Awwwwww Remy is so cute!!

But such a shame the meal wasn't as good as the company!

Thanks for another great installment!

REALLY enjoying your reviews!! Thanks so much!

Question for you regarding: "I king size chips from everything pop $2.54"....is this like a large family size bag of chips that you would purchase in a grocery store? Or smaller, more single portion?

Curious because we'll be at POP in September & that might be something we wouldn't mind using a SC on!!

If you're buying a family size bag of chips at home for $2.54, I'm gonna move where you live! The chips are the smaller sizes. Not the tiny sizes like you would throw in a kid's lunchbox, but the next size up.

I was really disappointed when we had dinner at Les Chefs du France last year. The previous year we went and my BFF and I both ordered the short ribs and they were to die for.....at that time they were served over polenta....we declared it our best meal of the 2 weeks:banana:

We were so excited to share this new wonderful resaturant with my sister and her family and I wanted to cry when I saw the ribs were now served with pasta:sad2: I didn"t enjoy it at all.....but DD loved her scallop and shrimp dish so this year that's what I'll be having:) I booked to go again to see Remy....if he wasn't there though, we wouldn't be either:confused3

BTW another great review, I love your rating system.:yay:

Comme ci, comme ça

Good old French-Canadian there for ya ;)
Ahhh, now the high school french is coming back to me.

Every snack credit is only single portion servings. We asked the CM's in the gift shop and they took us around and showed us what counted as a snack credit. The only thing t hat was not a single portion was a larger bag of mainstreet popcorn...only the kettle corn counts though. ALso the cotton candy was pretty big.

The ribs would be sooo much better with a polenta. THe pasta really did nothing for the meal but the ribs themselves were good.
