10 Delicious Days of Deluxe Dining..Day5-Yachtmans Steakhouse-was it worth 2 credits?

I love the honesty of your reviews. :thumbsup2

Why couldn't they have picked off the mushrooms on his dish???

Cute seeing Remy, a real treat!

I'm hungry just looking at the food....:rotfl:

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't believe Chefs de France has the shrimp and scallop dish anymore. When we went on Good Friday I had planned on getting that and it wasn't on the menu. I was not a happy camper as we were fasting and abstaining from meat. I ended up with bouillabaisse. I didn't care for it, it was pretty tasteless even in my very hungry state. I will still go back to Chefs because we do enjoy the soup and dessert, but I really need to find a main course I enjoy again.

Oh and sorry for the interuption OP, I am really enjoying the reviews.

I was really disappointed when we had dinner at Les Chefs du France last year. The previous year we went and my BFF and I both ordered the short ribs and they were to die for.....at that time they were served over polenta....we declared it our best meal of the 2 weeks:banana:

We were so excited to share this new wonderful resaturant with my sister and her family and I wanted to cry when I saw the ribs were now served with pasta:sad2: I didn"t enjoy it at all.....but DD loved her scallop and shrimp dish so this year that's what I'll be having:) I booked to go again to see Remy....if he wasn't there though, we wouldn't be either:confused3

BTW another great review, I love your rating system.:yay:

Caught up on your reviews. Thank you for taking the time to share everyones thoughts on their meals. I am finding your DR very helpful - I am feeling better about canceling our Chef de France ADR's a few months ago. I was having 2nd thoughts - wondering if I should try to get them again, but your review helped me realize I made the right choice.

Looking forward to more reviews. popcorn::

Too funny....I was reading along, and hadn't noticed where you were from, until I saw this picture, and then thought, "gee that looks like the Manitoba Ledge"...and then I checked your location. Howdy neighbour!! :wave2:

Loving your reviews!! We're a party of 5 heading down in January, and everyone conveniently leaves all the planning to me, so I've been reading everything I can to find some new places to try. You have helped me decide to cross off the castle (we ate there 10 years ago, and thought the food really sucked). Obviously, hasn't improved any. Also, will cross off France now. Thanks for making this a little easier!

I'm hoping by the end of all your reviews I will have answered the question, "regular DDP, or deluxe?!"

Keep posting!

Enjoying your reviews, keep up the good work. :goodvibes

Yeah, DOanld said that the whole trip about the mushrooms...we had a really greaexperience at SOA where the waitress went above and beyond to make the meal perfect for us and Donald said "If THEY can do that then how come CHefs De France can't even pick up a few mushrooms!!

Hey, Neighbour!!
Small world we live in
I'm so glad my reviews are helping you out...I should have the next review up tomorrow. We have some really great places coming up that you should definitely add into your ADR's...stay tuned.

After a fabulous night watching illuminations and walking around a nearly empty World Showcase with a great glass of wine we woke up and headed to the Beach Club for our 3rd character breakfast in a row at Cape May Cafe. We were going to HS today so the Beach Club was a short walk along the water away.
Cape May Cafe is located just off the main lobby of the Beach Club.

We had never been here before and were not expecting the line up that was there. Our ADR was for 905 am. We arrived a bit early and got in line for our beeper and were seated by 910 am. We had a nice table a bit away from the main buffet and overlooking the walkway around the hotel. My only complaint about the seating was that we were in a half booth half table and it butted up a against the post. This made it very difficult for the person seated in the booth seat by the post to get in and out especially to see the characters.
The atmosphere of the buffet is really nice. Tink said it reminded her of what Florida should look like. It was very light, inviting and fresh looking. There are sandcastles around the perimeter of the buffet and really nice beach murals painted on the walls.

It was also very quiet compared to the other character buffets that we had been too which was a nice change from the usual Disney madness at a character buffet.
Service was very good here. Our waitress was very quick with drink orders and with clearing our plates. Everyone liked the fact that a thermos of coffee and a carafe of orange juice was left on the table for us instead of having to wait for refills all of the time. He restaurant felt very clean.
The characters that we saw here were:
Minnie

Goofy

and Donald

They were all dressed in their beach gear which was really cute. The characters came around very fast and were not very interactive with our table, which seems to be the norm when you have only adults. in the party. Goofy was fantastic though. He spent quite a bit of time at our table and was really funny.

I'll post a few pics of our plates and some pictures of the buffet:

Mulan Really enjoyed the large fruit selection and thought Goofy was a lot of fun. The rest of the characters were a bit lackluster.
****1/2 out of 5
Donald A great selection at the buffet and the mickey waffles were the best yet

Tink Mickey waffles were very fresh and love the thermos of coffee at the table.

Mickey Liked the atmosphere and loved the croissants. They were very light.
****/5
Stitch Loved the breakfast pizza (cheese and bacon) and thought that the characters and all of the food was good.

Morgy827 Really enjoyed the breakfast pizza but was disappointed that the only selection for eggs was a pre-made omelet and pre-made scrambled eggs. The orange juice was very pulpy and I would have enjoyed apple juice much more. The characters were fun especially Goofy and our waitress was very good. The table was really awkward for visiting the characters.

Would we come back
We would definitely come back here for breakfast. The food was very fresh and the atmosphere is really nice. It's also a great place to come when visiting HS because there are no great selections at HS for breakfast (for us anyway). We would like to try dinner here but not of us are too fond of seafood so a clam bake would not be a great idea for our party.

Coming up next....would we actually be hungry for our lunch at Sci Fi Diner??

Another great review! Now I want to have that breakfast too! (Donald looks too cute!)

Can't wait for Sci Fi!!

Hi Donna

Thank you for that, goodness, now what am I gonna have???:confused3

Maybe just an appy and dessert:love:

Loving your review. Did I read correctly that you'll be going to Narcoossees? We are going there on our Disneymoon next month. Can't wait to hear all about it.

My mom and I are having lunch at France (instead of dinner) just to be able to see Remy. He is so cute! Also, when I stayed at the beach club Donald was not one of the characters! He looks so cute in that outfit! I loved Minnie's Cape May shoes! I even took just a picture of them! Your reviews are great so far!

I am so late to the game on this thread but I'm loving the reviews so far! I really appreciate reading each person's thoughts about the meal. It's giving me great ideas for our next trip!

Great reviews! Can't wait to read more.

I just read all of them (sorry I skipped most of the comments.)

Quick question, did you ever return your cold food to the kitchen? Maybe it's just an American thing or maybe it's just me but if I get food that I'm unhappy with (even at the Happiest Place on Earth) I ask for it to be made right. Sounds like you had alot of cold food so far. I know my DM and I really like our food, especially potatoes and soup hot.

Sorry to hear about the soup at CdF. It's one we haven't tried yet but have been thinking about. Maybe we'll just stick with Tutto Italia, which we had last year and really enjoyed.

ADDED-Great pictures.

Ooh the food looks delicioulsy fresh at Cape May! Especially the fruit!

Fantastic reviews! Can't wait to try Cape May cafe as we will be staying at the Beach Club next year!

Can't wait for next installment.
