10 Days of Disney Dining – TS, CS, & Snacks – LOTS of Photos! COMPLETE THROUGH DAY 10

We had the same issue with credits this summer. Got charged at Cape May for my dd2. They too wouldn't correct it, I had to go to the Pop front desk and they did it!

don't let me get started on the credits.

i went to park fare and was charged for 3 people.
it was just me.......

and my cc was charged also.....

it was taken care of but the credit back on my credit card took 8 days to get it accomplished at the front desk. i got my dining credits back the 2 days after it happened.

K & L Mom,

Still very much enjoying your reports. You could be a long lost "cousin" since your restaurant selections, DDP management & food FAVES are so similar to mine. Bread Pudding (& for me the potatoes) are definitely winners. :thumbsup2

Question: I'll be making ADRs in the next week. How was the 4pm ressie at Ohana? Was it "festive" enough? Would you plan another ressie at that time? (We're choosing between Tony's & Ohana for an early dinner before going to the MK for the evening.)

Thanks....& keep em coming!

hound :)

Thanks for the great reviews! This really helps! :thumbsup2

Your family looks so cute in the matching outfits!! :goodvibes

The 4pm ADR was great - we were one of the first ones in the restaurant, but it filled up quickly. The "hula lady" began her activities shortly after. It was very festive and everyone had a great time! However, I think the early reservations were temporary due to the free dining going on at the time. I THINK they are starting at 5 now. I may be wrong though - I would check when you are making your ADRs.

Thanks again for the compliments! I am glad everyone is enjoying my report.

Thanks...wanted to make sure the kiddos didn't miss the activities if we got an early dinner.

Also, great description on the Tusker House....we missed it last time (on DDP) since the family didn't want to backtrack to Africa. Looks like a great option for Counter Service. We get pleny of good BBQ in TX (& I'm sure you as well in Ala) & will pass on Flame Tree.

if you missed the tusker house, it will be different starting sometime later this month.

the registers are being removed and the place is going to have a change over.

bye bye that delicious chicken dinner plate.

tusker house will be a character / buffet dining place in the future.

REALLY??? Do you know which characters? Any other info? I have not heard this!! It will be sad to lose Tusker House, but great to add a TS in Animal Kingdom. I wonder if they will be opening a new CS to replace Tusker House??

this came from *************

i think screamscape.com had something listed also, not sure, but i did read about this in another website.

2 November 2006: Tusker House to become Character Buffet

The Tusker House restaurant in Harambe is being prepared for some significant changes. It is expected that the restaurant will change from a counter service to a character buffet dining experience. The conversion seems to be reasonably permanent, as plans call for the registers to be removed. Whilst this plan looks certain to go ahead, remember that until officially confirmed, it should be treated as speculation.

sorry, i just reread this post and see the website has been marked out.
sorry to the mods, i wasn't aware this was against the rules.

Thanks for sharing the Tusker House info. We go in March so I'll post on what we encounter. I do hope they open another counter service location similar to the Tusker House. It really seems like healthy & homestyle type food (& I already told my DW about the Salmon).

Re: Character Meal - Maybe a logical addition. Lion King & Jungle Book characters would be a natural (& Baloo & King Louie rock :thumbsup2 ).

hound, i have always loved the tusker house and the food there is wonderful

i stay at disney for 11 days on my trips and t. house i do twice.
i love the salmon and the chicken dinners.........a lot !

it will be sad for me when the tusker house changes.
please let us know how the changes are when you go in the spring.

Great Review! Now I am thinking of this....cross out "Coral Reef" from our list and add "Kona Cafe".....

Wanted to bring my 3-year-old to Coral Reef, mainly because of the environment and atomsphere...We did Garden Grill last year, and the food (& service) were good too!

Day 8 Lunch - Boulangerie Patisserie

Today was our World Showcase day at Epcot, and we stopped at the bakery in France for lunch. You can only use snack credits for a drink here, but you can use a counter service credit and get 2 items plus a drink. We used 3 CS credits and had:

3 drinks
Ham & Cheese Sandwich – this is the long sandwich in the picture; very good
Ham & Cheese Croissant – we had this toasted; delicious
Apricot Tart (not pictured)
Chocolate Éclair
Crème horn – my favorite – delicious!
Napoleon

All of the pastries were wonderful – this is a great place to stop by for a snack or lunch. We will most definitely return here on our next trip to the World Showcase!

Cost – 3 CS credits = $33.20

Day 8 Dinner - San Angel Inn

Side note, this was the first weekend of the Food and Wine Festival and all the booths were packed – the only thing I waited in line for was a Jacob’s Riesling from Australia :sad2: . DB and DSIL “snacked around the world” before they flew out this afternoon, and they enjoyed many of the booths using their leftover snack credits.

I had been looking forward to dining at San Angel from trips past – we would always pass by the restaurant while riding the boat ride and Mexican foods are my favorites!

Our ADR was at 4:05 and we arrived around 3:55 – we were very hot and hungry! We were seated immediately and given a lunch menu (dinner started at 4:00 and I had planned on that menu, oh well). The atmosphere in here is great – you walk inside the pyramid and then through the market to the restaurant. There is music playing and you can be seated overlooking the boat ride (we weren’t, but that’s OK). We had 2 small complaints, which I hear a lot here on the DIS – the tables were EXTREMELY close together and it is EXTREMELY dark in here! DD2 was not a happy camper during this meal (whining a lot, didn’t want to sit in her high chair, etc.) and I was getting dirty looks from one of the tables. However, the party at another table beside us were extremely friendly and we actually had conversations with them throughout the meal (we were that close!). I believe there were 2 men and 3 women, all teachers or retired teachers – very nice folks! Anyway, our server was Luis – he was very busy! He was friendly and efficient enough, but not outstanding. Here is a picture of the eating area I copied from the DIS dining link:

Me – Ceviche, Nachos de Pollo, Diet Coke, & Frozen Lime Margarita
DH - Sopa Azteca, Carne Asada Tampiquena, Coke
DDs – shared with us

We both had the bread pudding for dessert – they only had about 3 dessert choices. It was good, but not even comparable to the bread pudding at 'OHana.

The ceviche (seafood marinated in lime juice with tomatoes, chiles, onions and cilantro) was wonderful! This was served cold, kind of like a dip. It had large chunks of seafood and was very mild. Both of the girls loved this and we cleaned this plate. The nachos (border creation of tortilla chips topped with grilled chicken, red sauce, melted cheese, chorizo, jalapenos, tomatoes, and sour cream) were OK – the cheese was kind of dry and not “sauce-like”. However, we enjoyed them and ate about ½ of the entrée – there was a lot of food! The Margarita (very large serving) was one of the best I’ve ever had and I’m a Margarita connoisseur!

DH did not have very much to say about his Sopa Azteca (traditional tortilla soup with avocado, cheese and pasilla pepper) and Carne Asada Tampiquena (grilled beef tenderloin served with a chicken enchilada topped with ranchera sauce, esquites and black refried beans). He did eat most of it, and the girls and I had a few bites of the beef – it was very tender and delicious!

Overall, I enjoyed this restaurant and DH ranked it “just OK”. I think DD2’s behavior kind of put a damper on this meal - she had been so good at dinnertime all week and she was just hot and tired; and the cramped space did not help. I would like to try San Angel for dinner when we return and try a different dish. I will definitely return for another Margarita!

Sorry, it was too dark and I was holding DD2 for much of this meal, so I didn’t get any pictures!

Cost – 2 TS credits = $75.80
Margarita OOP = $9.96 with tax & tip ($8.00 without)

Late night snack (POP) – apples with caramel and tie dye cheesecake (yummy) = 2 snack credits $7.65

That's good info about France - using the CS for 2 items plus a drink. Sounds like a fun way to have lunch!

Great reviews--again! Thanks for posting the France pictures. The bakery is one of our lunch options for the day we arrive & I'm glad to see the size of the sandwich & croissant.

Great reviews, and I'm taking notes for my upcoming trip. Your family looks so adorable in the matching hawaiian mickey outfits at O'hana. I bought the shirt for my son, and now might need to see if the womens dress is still available. Thanks.

WOW! That was brilliant and highly informative. We didn't stop much for food our last holiday as we were on a severe budget. It was snacks mostly and very basic CS, so I found it really interesting to get a good in-depth look at the TS restuarants as next time we go, we're on the dining plan, and intend to eat until we can't move! My sister can be a very picky eater, and already I've found a couple of restaurants that might actually suit her, as well as a few to stay away from. Thank you soo much for this, and I think I will try and do something similar when I go because it's so helpful to those of us who have never really dined at Disney!

Thank you! It's kind posts like these that let me know my efforts are not in vain. I appreciate everyone's feedback - I should wrap this up in the next few days.

Coming up - Leaning Palms, Captain Jack's, & a VERY SPECIAL Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe (our last meal at Disney).

We're still reading K&L's Mom. Great report & most informative. :thumbsup2

Another question: The bakery in France allows two items & a drink for 1 counter service credit. :cool1: I didn't know that.

Do they have a place nearby to sit and eat? Do you know what their hours are? (Thinking of this place for late breakfast or evening meal (or snack).

And a general question on any TS or CS (maybe i need to post this on the general food board) - Can we get a cafe mocha or expresso as our "drink" with meals?

Thanks for all the inside info!
