10 Days in October: Argle-Bargle or Foofarah? UPDATED: POSTS #984 & 995!!!

Jason and I amused ourselves during the wait by watching my mom's lips grow thinner and thinner while she heaved her shoulders with dramatic, long-suffering sighs punctuated with occassional eye-rolling. We don't have children but I think my mother became the oldest living teenager ever that night.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I must agree. You should have grounded her until she learned to behave better!

You know what I learned from this? I don't need a child...I've already got one. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:.

Only the child would be infinitely easier to manage and probably more loving.

Coming soon - Day 6...EMH at the Animal Kingdom, a F&W Festival drive-by eating, a mini DIS-meet with two of the nicest English citizens we've ever met, Plankton sets his plans in motion, and dinner at Victoria & Albert's!!!

Hmmm. We haven't seen much of Plankton lately, this should be interesting; and I sincerely hope you have a fantastic dinner, sans Reubens, at Victoria & Albert's.

Right am goner go out on a limb here "The lady with a face like a smacked **** is really an alien"...WHY?...NOBODY can keep a face like that 24/7 in Disney AND how come her daughter butt ain't the size of a house with the amount of tucker the girl put away in a single day?..Er hello 14 zillion calories don't add up to a size zero does it lady's? whatever happened to "a moment on the lips a lifetime on the hips" come on Brenda you fat munching alien spill WHAT IS YOUR SECRET?.......:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Make that ADR for Le Cellier on one of your future trips post haste!!:scared1: You mustn't miss out again! You must be the best daughter out there to change that ADR.;) I hope she enjoyed her Reuben anyway.

I agree, on both the do Le Cellier and the "best dd" comments! Wow.

Your story about the exchange between you and your mom while you were young made me laugh and almost cry at the same time. It brought back a memory of my mom that I'll also never forget. I was a freshman in high school and tried out for the cheering squad. (This was so many years ago I shudder to actually write how many years it was:sad2: ) I made the JV squad and came rushing in the door as excited as I could be. Me: "I made it!!!" Mom: "Really? I never thought you were that good."

We call these "Comments from Big Tongue File." In honor of the day my best friend's mom looked at her, and said out of the blue "Wow, you really do have a big tongue!" :scared1:

Scars you for life, doesn't it? We tell our girls (and boys) they are beautiful (or handsome) as often as we can. And smart and clever. And they are! :thumbsup2

Scars you for life, doesn't it? We tell our girls (and boys) they are beautiful (or handsome) as often as we can. And smart and clever. And they are! :thumbsup2

We tell our DS and DD how handsome and beautiful (and smart and talented and funny) they are all the time too! Hopefully they'll have no low self-esteem problems!:thumbsup2

The big tongue comment, well, that's just  !

Pool hopping ducks? I love it ! :rotfl2: And I thought they only monopolized the Wilderness Lodge pool. You know, some people really get upset with ducks swimming in the pool, so maybe you could market some of your duck repellant to generate some extra cash for your next trip.

Your mother sounds like an interesting person, and somewhat of a challenge to love. I can see why you aren't terribly close! I do hope she never asks you if she's starting to look older, or if she ever acts senile at times. She might be sorry she ever said you were plain!

I'm glad she got you the throw. That was a nice gesture. I hope when you use it, it will bring back a few good memories of your trip.

When I die I want to be reincarnated as a WDW duck. They have it made! Hot dogs at Casey's...scraps from the F&W Festival...unlimited pool hopping. Sweeeeeet!

Grimace isn't so bad - you should hear about her mom sometime. She and I don't pull punches with each other but she's been a good mom - is it her fault if she finds me physically repulsive? :lmao:

hmmmm...where's the cheesesteak?

Everytime you mention DVC, it makes me more and more anxious to go for our first visit.............Summer 2008! :scared1: It can get here fast enough! Are you and Jay planning a 2008 trip?

Anyway, another great installment!

Thanks Paige - no trip scheduled in 2008; we're getting it all out of our system this year. As for your other question.... see below!

OH MY GOODNESS!!!

Yes, you know what it is like to have a child, only worse, because you can ground a child or teenager!

So are y'all going to try LeCellier on your next trip? If you do, make sure to let us know how you like it. I want to go there on our next trip........

Well, I guess she DID buy the cookbook for you...........and that beautiful throw.

I have many stories about my mom that are similar to yours, so I feel your pain. That said, I know that your mom is probably a very nice person, as you would think about my mom. I guess all we can say is we love our mothers like only daughters can!:rotfl:

Le Cellier...I think what we're going to try for is a Food & Wine Pairing there in October during the festival. There are so many other places that we'd like to try right now that it's kind of dropped off the radar.

Yes, my mom is actually a very nice person (she's actually much nicer than I am!) and she pretty much goes with the flow. But she always let's us know how she's feeling...she won't say anything but her non-verbal cues are off the chart!! And she really is very very generous - too generous sometimes.

Thanks for reading!!

Amen, sister. My Dad's the Grimace. We call him Cowboy. Because he won't take off his cowboy boots. Even in San Diego. At the beach. Maybe it should be Cowboy Grimace. :)

So we're leaving for Vegas tomorrow -- we'll say hi to Grimace in passing.

Cowboy Grimace! That's great! I can see an entire lineup of Grimace aged-parent (in)action-figures...there's the original Grimace (frown and cheesesteak sandwich included), Cowboy Grimace (with boots and hat), Mad-Scientist Grimace (comb-over and labcoat), Gardener Grimace (black socks and shorts), and my personal favorite: Suspended License Grimace (revoked license and dented car extra).

Have a great trip - I have it on the highest authority that my Grimace did not break the bank while she was there.

Brenda,
Yup, the May trip is all about the anniversaries...it is my in-laws celebrating their 40th and us our 4th, (and now that I remember it, we did go over this in your food trippie, sorry.):confused3
I am still on the fence about writing my own report, so we'll see.
I did go to the wonderful pre-trip report... wish it was a week or so earlier:) or we were there a week later...my DS:darth: who cared less about Star Wars weekend last year when we were there, now can't get enough of it...go figure.
Ready for the next installment.:coffee:

That's right - we did talk about this before, didn't we? I was kind of disappointed about the dates for the Star Wars weekend moving back, too. Jay and I would have really enjoyed seeing that. Well I hope you do a trip report but if you don't please be sure to come back and let us know how your trip was.

Aww, don't feel bad, Le Cellier sucks, really.

Okay, that was a total lie, but I was trying to make you feel better.

At least you weren't one of the people who eat at the McDonalds Outpost at Epcot during F&W.

Thanks Crystal...I think! :lmao:

2 installments in one day:cool1: - you're on a roll ....keep em coming.:thumbsup2

Thank you ma'am - I aim to please!

Okay, my Mom loves me more than anything in the world, but those remarks stick with ya, you know what I mean?! Good thing Mom doesn't read these boards; she'd kill me for telling that story!

Can't wait for more!

Grimace enjoyed her reuben very much and she also liked her ice cream dessert, so everything worked out for the best. OMG - your story reminds me so much of me and my mom!! And like yours, my mom loves me dearly, but sometimes those comments come out and they just don't fade!

If my mother ever found out about these posts and her new nickname she'd run me over with her car and then disinherit me. :lmao:

Sheesh! Now I remember that the cheesesteak incident was the second
reason I would have throttled the Grimace had she been related to me ;)
(The first being the night you skipped Illuminations at the lagoon-side table
at Rose and Crown!)

I give you mad props for allowing her to live. :thumbsup2

I remember that the BCV pool had the Duck Family Reunion one time I was
there. I mean there was scads of li'l cute ducklings. They formed a "duckpile"
under one of the lounge chairs. I might have a pic of that on my home
computer.

As for the food and wine pairings for Le Cellier...they are fabulous. And
tough to get unless you call ASAP on the day the bookings open. They've
usually been just on Fridays, and one of the fastest events to sell out.
So as you see me update my pre-trippie, I'll probably be mentioning this.
Since I have two Fridays in my trip, I'm hoping to book BOTH of the Le
Cellier pairings. :cloud9:

And I think you really should have not let the Grimace have any pudding
unless she eats her meat.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I must agree. You should have grounded her until she learned to behave better!

We did the next best thing - we made her have dinner at places like V&A's and California Grill! :goodvibes

Hmmm. We haven't seen much of Plankton lately, this should be interesting; and I sincerely hope you have a fantastic dinner, sans Reubens, at Victoria & Albert's.

Plankton will once again move into a starring role - he needed some time to acclimate himself to his new surroundings. Dinner was fabulous - I'm trying to decide if I should post the entire review of it here - what do you think?

:lmao: :lmao: Have I missed your sense of humor this week! I can't believe you said that about my mom - if I were the type of person who were easily offended you'd be in big trouble, but as it is I'm just trying not to choke on my tuna sandwich while I laugh.

And I'll have you know that I am not a size 0, not even close! But I appreciate the thought, anyway. My secret is actually kind of gross, and I wouldn't recommend it - Crohns Disease - along with the nastier aspects of the disease is a nutrient absoprtion issue. I never know how much of anything I eat is going to actually digest properly and be absorbed as opposed to...well, not being digested properly. I don't want to gross anyone out - Crohns doesn't really make for pleasant discussion, but that's really why I can eat so much junk and be a lazy slob and not have my weight move very much.

You probably really didn't want an answer, did you? :lmao:

Scars you for life, doesn't it? We tell our girls (and boys) they are beautiful (or handsome) as often as we can. And smart and clever. And they are! :thumbsup2

Yep, I've spent my adult life trying to move past that moment! ;) In my mom's defense she constantly drilled it into my head that I was an intelligent kid..."brains are more important than looks." She's right, but there's nothing wrong with having a healthy combination of the two!! :lmao:

From everything I've read I'd say your kids are quite fortunate in their parents!

We tell our DS and DD how handsome and beautiful (and smart and talented and funny) they are all the time too! Hopefully they'll have no low self-esteem problems!:thumbsup2

Such thoughtful parents! I wonder if it's a generational thing? :confused3

Thanks again for reading and posting - always glad to hear what you guys think!! :goodvibes

I actually enjoy the ducks quite a bit - they never bother anyone (at least not that I've seen). I'd love to see that picture if you still have it.

Thanks for the tip. I noticed that the pairing at Le Cellier sold out faster than almost anything else being offered during last year's festival. I called right at 7AM last year to book the stuff I wanted so I guess I can do it one more time. ;) Maybe we'll get to see each other at one of these pairings!

Guy, do you know the lyrics to Baby on Board? :lmao:

*clears throat*

Baby on board,
Something, something... Burt Ward... this thing writes itself!

oh, you mean the finished product....

Baby on board, how I've adored,
That sign on my car's window pane.
A bounce in my step; loaded with pep,
'cause I'm driving in the carpool lane.

Call me a square; friend, I don't care
that little yellow sign can't be ignored.
I'm telling you it's mighty nice,
each trip's a trip to paradise,
with my baby on board.

*bows*

Today, my mother got up, drove to Joplin to go to the casino, and drove back, all before I left for work.

I think we should set our mothers up on a play date. Then we'll take pictures of them together, in which neither one will smile. Such fun!

Sunday, October 22nd - The Names Have Not Been Changed to Protect the Impatient, the Uncooperative, or the Purple.

Jason and I amused ourselves during the wait by watching my mom's lips grow thinner and thinner while she heaved her shoulders with dramatic, long-suffering sighs punctuated with occassional eye-rolling.

Yup Brenda, my mom (your aunt :lmao: ) once stood in a line with me doing the exact same thing. Along with it came the occasional "tsk". As the "tsk's" became louder and the sighing longer I made the huge mistake of asking her:
"Mom, it sounds like you have something stuck in your teeth and ...are you having an asthma attack"?

Needless to say, the afternoon was cut short...:confused3

:rotfl2:

It's funny, because it's true.

I can only hope that Grimace wasn't one of those people. Actually I'm pretty sure she just didn't sample anything at all at the F&W Festival...such a waste of money. ;)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I wonder if your mom and mine are long lost relatives?

They could meet in the middle of the state at Island of Capri (I think that's what it's called) and that way when they decide that the other is bad luck each mom will be within driving distance of home!

I learned the art of lip compression, eye rolling, deadly dagger stares, and dramatic huffing from Grimace herself. But I also got in trouble when I tried it out on her. There is no justice!

It's funny because I don't know him. :rotfl:

"Lisa...what's that shameful joy thing of yours?" :lmao:

**Lobs Simpson quote-ball back over to Ohio**

Wow, I have gotten so behind on this tr! Sorry, I will try to catch up soon! I am still the president of your ever-growing fan club. Life has just been so crazy lately!!!

"I can only hope that Grimace wasn't one of those people. Actually I'm pretty sure she just didn't sample anything at all at the F&W Festival...such a waste of money."

Some of the folks who went with us last year ate only at two places: the fish and chips stand in Britain, and the pretzel booth in Germany. They were like "this Food and Wine thing is GREAT!"

I was like *sigh*:sad2:

I have no doubt painted my mom in something of an unfavorable light but that's what mothers and daughters do...at least I think that's what they do. Let me try to give you a sense of us...

When I was younger and I would ask my mom how I looked she'd always respond with, "fine."

This was not the answer I was looking for, so I told her that I wanted to know if I was pretty. Her response was, "You're cute...but sometimes you're just plain."

I have never forgotten that.

Ahhh, the scars of our childhood... I know them well. You can add this to the list of our similarities, Brenda. In my case, my older sister was the 'beautiful & talented' one and I never measured up. Now that she's gone, it's even worse. :sad2: I hope you really don't believe that you're plain. Just look at you! I think you're gorgeous! I'd kill to have your body! (but you can keep the Chron's! )

Le Cellier.
Jason and I were keen to try it and I had read so many good reviews of the restaurant here at the DIS that the flexibility of the Dining Plan seemed like the perfect opportunity for us to give it a go....

...my mom said to me, "Brenda, we can have steak any time. I want to have dinner at the Magic Kingdom. Is there someplace we can go that I can get a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich?"

Does anyone else notice that her request still includes steak???

The result of all this was that I cancelled the Le Cellier ADR and got us in to the Plaza for dinner that night - specifically so that she could have her cheesesteak sandwich. I'm just that nice. ;)

The Grimace just pulled a Bait and Switch on me, which is illegal in most states.

"I thought you wanted a cheesesteak sandwich; that's why we changed the reservation and came here for dinner."

"I know, but it just didn't sound very good. Besides, you really have to go to Philadelphia for the best cheesesteak sandwiches."

I was thinking the exact thing when I started to read this part - WHY would you want to get a Philly Cheesesteak in the MK? :confused3 You are a wonderful daughter for changing your ADRs for the Grimace! Don't worry, you'll make it back to Le Cellier. I just want to warn you though, try to do that ADR BEFORE California Grill or Jiko. Le Cellier doesn't quite measure up, if ya know what I mean. Don't get me wrong, I like Le Cellier, but it's not on par with some of the other restaurants that you guys are used to. Start with Le Cellier earlier in your trip and work your way up to the other restaurants. Savvy? pirate:

If my mother ever found out about these posts and her new nickname she'd run me over with her car and then disinherit me. :lmao:

Maybe your mom already has a voo-doo doll of you and you don't even know it! Do you ever wonder where all the new aches & pains come from so suddenly? Hmmmm...? And I wouldn't worry about the inheritance, by the time she's done gambling, there won't be any. Trust me.

Today, my mother got up, drove to Joplin to go to the casino, and drove back, all before I left for work.

I think we should set our mothers up on a play date. Then we'll take pictures of them together, in which neither one will smile. Such fun!

OK, Brenda & Crystal, you guys can send your moms out to Vegas to play with my mom. She knows the strip like the back of her hand! :rolleyes1 These days, you can find her 'working' her favorite machines in Green Valley. :sad2:

I'm ready to read more TR! :surfweb:
-Michelle

Update please! Did you already report about your experience at Victoria and Albert's? California Grill? You are not allowed to have a life while I have a moment to catch up on your trippie (instead of playing baseball outside with Rob and the kids)......:rotfl:
