Great trip report and lovely pics... Looking forward to reading more... Your children are so adorable... :)

Lesley, great TR. Your kids are so cute and funny... ;)

As for the GF, my DF had the same reaction the first time he walked into the lobby. That was over a year ago... and we haven't stayed anywhere else since :rotfl: Our second trip is coming up, and we are getting married there in Dec.

Thanks for writing such a wonderful TR. Can't wait to find out what the birthday surprise is... :wizard:

Day 5 (June 14th)

Today was our scheduled “Day off” I try to schedule one of these every year to hang out at the pool and just relax because we keep so busy. With all the rain we’ve had though and since we didn’t go to the park the one day and it was a BEAUTIFUL day we were kind of playing it by ear. I usually don’t schedule an early breakfast on our day off but Luke really wanted Chef Mickey’s and I had tried every day for 3 months calling and it was the only day I could get. Sooooo on our “day off” we had an 7:30 wake up call so we could catch the 8:00 boat to the Contemporary for our 8:20 reservation. We got on the boat and had a smooth ride to the Contemporary – it was such a beautiful morning.

We sat in the back of the restaurant and had a great waitress who quizzed the kids in the room offering prizes (stickers and place mats) for correct answers. Luke got one right and got stickers so he was thrilled. The buffet was great (we had never been there for breakfast)

Here is a pic of the kids with Mickey at breakfast:

We also got to see Minnie, Chip and Dale, Goofy (in the lobby) and Pluto. GREAT TIME!

Of course they do the “celebrations” on the half hour and Tim got a LITTLE slap happy with his napkin:

After breakfast the kids were asking what we were going to do. Tim and I had already decided it was too nice to go back to the hotel but we wanted to surprise the kids. We got on the monorail telling Luke it went to the Wilderness Lodge and that’s where we were going. We were lucky enough again to ride up front on the monorail here is a pic of that:

We pulled into the Magic Kingdom stop and told Luke, “this is our stop buddy” and he said, “no it isn’t, this is the Magic Kingdom” Tim said “well, how about we get off here and have fun instead of going back to the hotel”. The kids were thrilled and both yelled “YEAH!!!!”

We headed into the park on this beautiful day. Here is the shot of the castle I took on the way in:

We headed to Jungle Trails. I had never ridden this ride I am embarrassed to admit and wanted to try it. Here we are on Jungle Trails:

We really loved the ride and the kids thought it was great. Couldn’t really tell if they thought the animals were real or not (I think Luke was onto it : )

We then saw there was no line for Aladdin carpet ride so the kids and I rode that (Tim doesn’t like rides that spin around). That was fun. We then headed over to Fantasyland to watch Philarmagic. Here is Tim with the kids and their glasses on ready to go into the theatre:

That is just the greatest show, we love it so much!!!! The kids loved it to, Lauren was a LITTLE freaked out by the corks that pop out at you, but overall a great time had by all.

We then headed over towards Big Thunder Mtn. Railroad (Luke’s favorite ride) and Luke and Tim rode that. Here is a pic of them on the ride (can you find them???):

I remembered reading that you could find Jessie and Woody at the theatre over there so we went in and got pic’s with them.

It was then close to lunch time and we just headed back to the hotel to eat at Roaring Forks. I wasn’t sure why Tim suggested this and didn’t want to eat at the parks. . but more on that later. . .

We headed back to the hotel and had a leisurely lunch at Roaring Forks. Tim and Luke wanted to try to do the Treasure Hunt for some more hidden Mickey’s in the lobby (or so they told me) before naptime. So we all headed to the lobby. Lauren and I sat in chairs by the fountain and Tim and Luke headed to the counter for the scavenger hunt sheet (again, so I thought). What they were really doing was greeting my mom and dad who were arriving to surprise me for my 30th b-day in the front of the hotel. They flew in from Cincinnati to surprise me (and surprise me they did). Here is a pic of my mom getting off of the bus to hug Luke that Tim took:

I was so surprised and so happy to see them. I couldn’t believe they had pulled this off. Here are pic’s of them greeting me in the lobby. Tim snapped the camera as I got a huge surprise:

Hug from dad:

I started asking a million questions and what I found out was they were there for 2 days (my b-day the 15th and the 16th) they were flying back home on the 17th (early in the a.m.) and they had 2 day hopper passes, dining plan, and had rented points (with Tim’s help) in the Wilderness Lodge Villa’s. They were praising Tim left and right because I literally changed our dining plans about a million times for my b-day and every other meal and every time I would call he would have to call back and change it from 4 people to 6. Sneaky sneaky sneaky. He had convinced me to try the Polynesian (OHana’s) for dinner that night and now I knew why. They only had two day hoppers and couldn’t do a park this night.

We got them checked into their room and checked out the room in the Villa’s. It was a nice room but I liked ours better. I was expecting a bit more of the Villa’s I guess. They took Tim out for a beer to celebrate pulling off the surprise and the kids and I took a nap. We met up around 4:30 in the lobby to catch the boat to the contemporary to get the monorail to the Polynesian for our 5:20 reservation.

Here they are on the boat with the kids:

I was on cloud nine. My b-day tomorrow, my parents and my family here, who could ask for more.

I had heard rave reviews about OHana’s here on the Dis and they weren’t lyin’. I tried the Backscratcher drink- DELICOUS. Tim immediately took the backstratcher out and put it to use. Favorites of the meal was the steak, shrimp, and the potatoes. We had those refilled a few times. Overall, GREAT MEAL and we will be back again!

The kids had a great time dancing around the restaurant:

After a GREAT meal we headed over to the Grand Floridian. Mom and dad wanted to check it out after we had told them how pretty it was.

Here is a pic of all of us on the porch there:

DisneyDay4_3041.jpg

We then headed back to the Wilderness Lodge (since they didn’t have park tickets this night) and went for a swim. It was a great swim.

DisneyDay4_3043.jpg

We swam until around 9:00 then we filled up our mugs with hot chocolate and walked down to the boat dock in our bathing suits to watch the 9:35 boat parade. My mom LOVED it (I knew she would) and of course everyone else had a great time too.

At this point it was late, my parents had gotten up at 5:00 a.m. to catch and early morning flight so everyone was beat. We discussed my b-day tomorrow. You will find out where we are going tomorrow for my big day in my day 6 report.

Time to go to sleep. . . .see you for day 6. (to come: good surprises in the room for my b-day , and not so wonderful b-day dinner surprises at the dinner table- oh yeah!). . . . .
