I just got off the phone with a CM. I was trying to extend our sept trip by one day, because we could not get flights on our original departure date. The CM told me that I could not extend the MYW with dining, that there is a 10 day limit. She said we could book a 1 night stay at the hotel and then a 1 day park hopper (sure, that is more expensive!)
Does anyone know if this is true or not, that there is a 10 day limit on packages?

Hadn't heard that (though I didn't really pay attention, since we were only going for 6 nights), but I guess it makes sense to have some sort of limit.

Yes it is true. We have to do something similar. We are in Disney this August for 11 days. What we did is booked a 10 day myw package with DDP. Then we just booked a room only for one night. We didnt bother getting the DDP on our first day because we dont get to Disney till around 4 in the afternoon. We know we wouldnt want to go to the parks that day and we would really only need to worry about supper, so we just staying at the resort and paying out of pocket for supper. Unfortunelty you might have to consider the possibility of switching rooms after your first night. We are just not unpacking our suit cases until the next day. What the cast member told me was to just check out first thing in the next morning and then check back in at the same time. You will get your tickets and your DDP then. If you do have to switch room they will hold you luggage while your are at the parks.
Hope this helps

I have heard of this too... Does anybody know if it is 10 DAYS or 10 NIGHTS? :confused3

HI ... First hand experience here. Had to split our upcoming trip of 15 nights. Disney packages are for a maximum of 10 nights ... so we split it into 7 nights and then 8 nights - also requested to stay in the same room, so we dont have to move again. We just added the one day MYW tickets, which will be used towards our next annual pass purchase. Hope this helps. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

What we did was book 10 nights up front, then 1 day at the end. You have 14 days to use your 10 day pass, and the DP starts on the day you check in until the midnight of the day you check out. So my thought was Chef Mickey's first night - won't use park pass but will have free dining, then the park passes and dining plan are good all the way up until midnight of the night we paid for separately. Next morning we don't care as we are checking out and going to Hard Rock Hotel for five nights! Hope I have my ducks in a row - I have spoken to reservations twice about it and they confirmed it was right. A one day pass for you will be super expensive - maybe you hang out at downtown disney for one day or if you got upgraded passes go to the water parks?

I have had first hand experence with disney and split vacation. Even though a disney cast member will tell you that you probably wont have to switch rooms, dont be suprised if you dont. My Dh, DS and I were in disney two years ago on a 14 day vacation. We had to make reservations for a 10 night stay and a 4 night stay. After the 10 day vacation was over we checked out and then checked back in, we were told my the cast memeber that we had to move room. They had already had our room booked even though when we checked in they knew we were there for 14 day. So we had to pack up and they moved our luggage to the new room. We have a 11 day trip planned this August and I was told by the cast member that it was better to put the room only on the 1st night instead of the last night because it would be earier to move at the start of your vacation then at the end of it. Just something to think about.
