10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Hi Lori! :wave2: I think you guys will really love the Opryland Hotel. It really is beautiful. There is a nice big mall next door too which has a lot of stuff.

All the ages I listed will be what they are at the time of sailing. Eric won't be 14 until March '08. It was tough to put myself down as 43 when I don't officially have to yet. Very cool that your son will be celebrating a birthday on the cruise. :thumbsup2 Eric LOVED all the time he spent in The Stack. I hope your son will too.

Alicia, I took my Beta Club there last year, and it was funny to watch some of the kids' faces. Before we went, one student asked, "Does this hotel have a pool?" Another kid said, "Man, this place has a river!" One thing I learned from last year was to wear walking shoes the day we get there b/c I had to do a lot of running around to make sure we were registered and in rooms.

Talk about ages, I will actually be 40 when we sail. Can't believe I'll be leaving my 30's behind next May. We'll have to meet up and have a "Fabulous Forties" drink.:drinking1

Jan, are you all packed? I so wish I was going with you. I guess I'll have to settle for going back to work and teaching my dear 7th graders all the mathematics their sweet little heads can hold, lol.

Gotta run for now, we're taking the boys to see "Game Plan" tonight. Haven't paid full price for a movie in a long time, so it'd better be good, lol.

Lori P. :)

Hi all. Hope you had a good weekend.

Lori - our surname is Powell as well!

I will be 42 when we cruise  .

Tania

Tania, you are welcome to join our 40 something drink club, lol.

Going back to school/work tomorrow, boohoo:guilty: I have so enjoyed my time off from work. I have decided to have a good attitude though and make my lesson plans super duper fun and interesting this week.:cool1: We're going to party in math class, whoo hoo:banana: linear equations, functions, variables, don't you wish you were there for the fun?!?!

Have a great week!
Lori P. :)

Back from our WDW vacation. Hate to be home, would rather be at the best place in the world, DISNEY..

Alicia welcome. WE were suppose to be on the cruise with you last week, but went to WDW. We are from Smyrna. If I remember you are from the Wilson county area. Glad you will be joining us next year.

Off to get kids in bed for school tomorrow.

Have a great evening.

Kim

Kim, Glad to see you're back home safely. Missed you around here. Would love to see pics. of your trip.

Heading off to bed I think, just wanted to give us a bump.

Lori P. :)

:cool1: 40 Something Drinking Club! :cool1: Sounds like a meet in the making. :)

Kim, you're right, we do live in Wilson County. I say Nashville in my profile, 'cause it's close, I grew up there and everyone knows where that is. We're half way between Mt. Juliet and Lebanon.

Sounds like you had a great WDW vacation. :goodvibes Would love to hear more about it. What was the best part of your trip? We spent a day before and two days after the cruise there. My guys did the Race For The Taste and we hung out at the F&W Festival. It wasn't nearly enough park time though. I'm getting another short fix when I head down with some girlfriends next week for MNSSHP and the Tower of Terror 13K Race. :yay:

Lori, How long was your break? We just went back today after a two week break. We LOVE our school schedule! I think it's great that you love, understand, and teach math. Your students are lucky that you make it so much fun. I can only help my 5 year old with math. The other two are on their own. :rotfl: Thankfully dad can help if needed when he gets home.

Tania, you're about to start with warmer weather, right? Once we get below 70 here, I'm ready to move to New Zealand for your Spring/Summer. :)

Have a great day, all!

We are in too!! 4 cabins 12 people:banana:  I could be considered obnoxious at this point I am sooooo excited

We spent 8 days at the parks, tok a break in the middle and drove to ft myers to see my grandparents. that was a long drive but worth it.

Our favorite part was the Halloween party. the boys really enjoyed it, and love all the candy the got. DS12 ran into one of the other football players from his school and they both thought that was cool.

We spent 2 days at sew world, and shamu was the big hit.

Did not take to many pics because it rained every day on us. Have a few pics on a disposable camera but have not gotten them developed yet.

Getting ready for DS12 birthday this week, cant believe that he will be 13. Makes me feel really old. Not old enough to join the 40ish drinking club, but would like to be the "baby"in the group. would be thast long and I will be visiting 40.

Have a great night every one off to check homework.

Alicia, I graduated from Mt Juliet many years ago, so very familiar with the area. My mom just moved from Lebanon to Smyrna. She needed to be closer after dad died a few weeks ago.

Off to give baths for night.
Kim

Welcome Alica and family and Momofapirate and family!

Lori - I am partially packed. I have to be packed by Friday morning. We are heading to Detroit after work on Friday. I'm usually an early packer, but the last two weekends, I've been busy with my precious West Virginia and Michigan grandchildren.

I'll join the 40 Something Drink Club -- even though I'm already WAY beyond my 40s. I start each cruise by getting a BBC about 4:50 pm, just before we leave port. This Sunday will be no different!

Have a great week everyone.

that's okay, we'll extend our club invitation to include the "almost forty" people and the "already been forty" people. Heck, we'll just take everyone. I love a good party, lol.party:

Kim, we loved the Halloween party when we went as well. I think I'm going to plan on going the night we get off the ship in 2008. At least, I won't have to disembark and head straight home.

momofapirate, WELCOME aboard! Sounds like you have quite a crew. You can be obnoxious here. It's a common ailment and quite understandable, even expected upon booking a Disney cruise. :)

Lori P. :)

Tania, you're about to start with warmer weather, right? Once we get below 70 here, I'm ready to move to New Zealand for your Spring/Summer. :)

Alicia - I hope the warmer weather starts soon! We are in spring. It's really windy and is raining a lot. We've had hail & thunderstorms. The temperatures have warmed up a bit and is ok out of the wind. At least its not 36 degrees at night anymore (I hope that converted right from 2 degrees celsius). You are welcome to come & visit NZ anytime but Feb is the best. No rain and nice wether - of course that's when the kids go back to school after the summer break.

Lori - The maths sounds too difficult for me :rotfl: . I'm nearly at the stage of handing over my DD's maths homework to my DH. I'm not a very good teacher and they do things differently at school from the way we used to do it.

Tania

We just returned from the 10/06/07 Western sailing and rebooked onboard. We planned on booking the 9/27 DD cruise but they were almost sold out. I will book the 2009 DD as soon as it is avaiable next time instead of waiting until onboard.

It will be myself, DH, DD 11, DS 9 and DD who will turn 8 during the cruise. My sister and her family also rebooked so we will be traveling with them.

Can't wait. Less than a year already!!! Hurray!!! :woohoo:

Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I posted. We just got back from the 10/5 Wonder sailing. We had a good time, but my heart was still with the Magic. The Wonder just didn't seem quite as pristine to me. The crew was still great, and she was still beautiful. Everything just seemed so rushed.

It was still better than not going at all of course! :cool1: I kind of snuck this trip in when I realized I had to have it for my sanity. I'm a fourth grade teacher, you know.

I have really got to watch my pennies and dimes now though!

It sure was fun to come home and have something new to put on my travel ticker!!

ETA: If anyone wants to have an email buddy for their son, my son will be 10 at the time of sailing. He still wasn't keen on going into the clubs this year. I'm hoping that next year will be different. I also have a daughter who will be 5. However, my niece who is the same age will be going too. Still, if someone wants an email buddy for their daughter she would be tickled to get her own email!

Please add our family to the list of cruisers. It will be myself, DH, DS (13) and DS (10). We went on the Wonder in May to celebrate my 40th b'day and rebooked for the 10/11 eastern. I figured our fall break wrong by a week, so we switched cruises on Wednesday. We are so excited. We have the late dinner seating, but would like to switch to the early seating. We loved our time on the Wonder and can't wait to sail on the Magic.

Welcome to the new cruisers :cheer2: .

married2grumpy - my DD will be 11 (almost 12) when we cruise too.

GGBacha - my DS have just turned 9 when we cruise. He may want to "talk" to other boys before the cruise. He liked the club when we cruised last time and is looking forward to the lab this time. Maybe your DS will like the clubs better if he knows others there.

Have a good weekend everyone (yes, it's saturday morning here)

Tania

Good Morning Everyone!!!! And it certainly is a great one for me as I will be boarding a plane in 2.5 hours and will be in Orlando-Cocoa Beach by 10:30. We board the Wonder tomorrow for the DVC cruise.

Talk to all of you next week.

By the way, we live in Williamston, MI where all the damage occurred by a tornado Thursday night. We are fine, our home is fine, but no power for another few days. But I don't care! I'll be R&Ring and not have a care in the world!

Jan

wareagle and married2grumpy...WELCOME to our board!

GGbacha, good to hear from you.

I love Saturdays!!! I especially love Saturdays where I don't have to be somewhere. My DH is in the kitchen making frenchtoast, sausage and fruit smoothies. If he would just stop asking me to find things, it'd be perfect ;)

What is the earliest that anyone has ever started a countdown chain for their family? I know I'm an idiot, but I was seriously thinking of starting one. We could count down the time and observe the holidays/seasons of the year at the same time. We could color the links during December green and red. We could put snowflakes (wishful thinking) on the January ones and so forth and so on. That would also give me a visible kick in the pants to get the cruise paid for, lol.

Gotta go, DH needs the cinnamon.

Jan, I know you're probably gone by now, but I'm glad you're safe, and I wish you all the best on your cruise!!! Take lots of pictures.

Lori P. :)
