10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Thanks everyone for the congratulation on our 21 anniversary. We are proud that we have made it that long. As others who are in relationship know it takes a lot of work on everyones part to make it work but it is worth it in the end.

Well got another long busy day tomorrow. Last one before the week-end. Going to hit the sack. Later, Lois

Is anyone planning to do MNSSHP on Oct 3? We are planning to drive to Orlando on Thursday the 2nd (which is why my ticker is 2 days fast!). We want to eat at T-Rex Cafe and do Sea World before the cruise. I'm thinking T-Rex and DTD on Thurs night, Sea World on Friday, then MNSSHP Friday night. I think my kids would have a ball... and I would get my MK fix!

Hi all, thanks for all of the warm welcomes! :thanks: I cant wait to be on the boat, I'm sick of snow!:cold:

Grand Cayman-We spent a week there several years ago and seven mile beach is nice, although I enjoy Rum Point. :beach: This time I will have to stop at the new Margaritaville and check it out. They have a water slide there, crazy!

We did Sting Ray City both times we were in Grand Cayman and we LOVED it. My DH is not a swimmer and I do not like fishys nibbling at my toes, but it is the most awesome experience! Both times the guides were very supportive of anyone a little apprehensive. I don't really recall many other fish being near. They are probably scared where as the Stingray are used to the masses, it's almost like a petting zoo. If nothing else, the boat ride is relaxing and a great place to catch some rays (sun).:dance3:

Some of you were talking about dining, we have late dining as of now but are waitlisted for early seating. In my case I think the kids would be ok but the DH would get grouchy!:scared:

I'm encouraged to hear of couples lasting a long time. By cruise time we will have been married 23 years and dates for 6 before that! We are definatley the minority but hopefully we are setting a good example for the next generation!

TTFN,
Beth

My kids would be fine with early or late seating, too. I think we would enjoy early dinner, then sit and relax in the play while dinner settles. Then on to the late buffet - pirate night in particular!

Which would best better for my 18 month old grandson, Rum Point or Seven Mile Beach? Of course, that's if his mommy and daddy don't back out on us! UUUGGGHHH!

In Key West, we plan to just do things on our own: rent an electric car and drive to the different must-see things.

Cozumel will be just looking around on the water front street, I guess. I would love to play mini golf at the place that the woman owns that used to live in the states. Does anyone know where this is, if it's still open?

I will admit that I like the Eastern cruise better. Steve and I fell in love with St Thomas/St John. We're flying in there next year for a week long stay followed by 2 weeks at WDW.

I admit I just don't like Mexico as well.

Seven Mile Beach has a variety of things to do and see where as Rum Point is basically relaxing and watersports. However, if your Grandson likes just playing in the sand, the water is calmer at Rum Point. There s also a turtle farm on the island he might enjoy.
Hope this helps.

These are our plans so far:

Key West: Probably take the trolley around (separate from the DCL excursion) and see the sights. Maybe a museum. Eat some Key Lime Pie!
Grand Cayman: Shipwreck and Reef Snorkeling if we can wecan book it. We LOVE to snorkel!:fish:
Cozumel: Tulum Ruins and Beach Tour! DH is excited about the ruins.
Castway Cay: Relaxing, more snorkeling and possibly parasailing.

I wish I was on CC now! :teleport:

Feel free to use (or not :) ) however you like!

This one should be sized well for door signs.

We did the Shipwreak and reef snorkel and had a blast it was great. We also did Tulum and was in awe. It was very hot and if you plan to swim you need to know that there are no dressing rooms or showers

Hello Everyone!

Today is the start of my 3 day weekend. I'm getting used to this 4 day work week. I've only been on this scheduled since late January, but I really, really like it! Tomorrow, I'm heading to my DD's house in west Michigan to help her get ready for my little Sean's 4th birthday party on Saturday.

I have finished the first version of a spreadsheet. I will email it to those who have forwarded email addresses to me. Feel free to send me your email address via PM if you want a copy. Please feel free to let me know about any changes, corrections, additions. Don't forget to mention, if you want all of us to know, about birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

If someone can tell me how to link the spreadsheet to post #1, I'd love the info. Right know, the spreadsheet is in Adobe.

Enjoy the weekend.

Jan

WOW!
That is awesome! Thanks for making the sign.
One thing someone suggested on our last cruise is that families make up "business cards" with their contact info to hand out. This makes keeping in touch after the fact easier and also makes a great momento for scrapbookers. If I can figure out how to upload the on I have from last time, I will.
TTFN,
Beth:banana:

Beth, Lauren and Lois: I will email the sheet to you.

Beth: Dave and I have had "business" cards made up for years with our address, phone and email addresses. It's great to have them on hand when someone wants to exchange info. Looking forward to seeing your card.

Hey Everyone,

I just returned home from the funeral home. The step-son of a friend of mine was killed in an accident Sunday. He was a member of the Marine Reserves and was returning from training. The charter bus that was carrying the soldiers crashed and David suffered severe head trauma. He was kept alive until Monday so his organs could be donated. He was only 19 and an only child. Looking at the photos and his things sitting out at the funeral home made me want to hold my boys even tighter. His step-mother had help raise him since he was 9-10 years old. She volunteered at school and did everything a mother would do for a child. The funeral is tomorrow, with a full military burial. The driver of the bus has been charged with reckless driving. I suspect more charges will follow.

Spring break starts for us tomorrow afternoon. After this week, I am looking forward to taking some time and just having fun with my boys.

Everyone, take time and give your kids an extra hug. You never know what can happen. Also, please remember this family in your prayers. I don't think things have really hit them yet.

Take care,

Gena

How sad, Gena. I will pray for them. Enjoy spring break with your boys!

Oh, Gena, how sad. Please tell the family that Dis board members are keeping them in our prayers.

That sure puts things into perspective, doesn't it?

karibritt01 thanks for mentioning the MNSSHP! I did not even think of that! My son and I went to the MHT at Disney last year (we are on the west coast)
and I would love to experience it with my DH and daughter. Is it crazy that we have never been to WDW and the first thing we are doing is MNSSHP? We don't have enought stamina (or cash) to do the land and sea, but thought this would be a great way to start the cruise the night before.

We plan on staying at the POFQ rec. by a friend, so we'll be able to do it fairly easily I think. Anyway, thanks for reminding me about it...any idea when tickets go on sale? We ended up having to buy ours last year off ebay ($15 inflated price!) so I would love to get a heads up. :cool1:

Gena, I to will keep his family in prayer. I am so sorry for their loss. Please let them know that we are thinking of them.

I worry about my adult kids all the time but their welfare is no longer in my control. At best I can only hope that God is watching after them. Lois

dvanhazel,

POFQ is s nice, small resort. Easy to get around in and it has a food court and a sit down restaurant.

MNSSHP is so much fun! About an hour before the start of the parade, go get seats at the train station up at the front of the park.
